The course is also intended for working professionals, who will find it compatible with their schedules. OBJECTIVES For students, upon completion of the course, to be able to successfully rise to the challenges posed by the management of the regulatory and technical aspects as well as the economics of the various lines of business conducted by electricity industry companies. REQUIREMENTS Hold a B.A., B.Sc., or a degree in engineering or architecture or equivalent. Have a good academic record. Substantiate a sufficient command of the English language to ensure full comprehension of class discussion and course documents. Work experience in electric utilities will be highly appreciated. Joint Master in Economics and Management of Network Industries EMIN STUDENT PROFILE Candidates must hold a degree in Engineering, Economics or Management (to study at Delft University of Technology, these studies must be in a technological field or the natural sciences). COURSE OBJECTIVES To train highly-qualified professionals able to understand the technological and economic principles of network industries by delivering an interdisciplinary curriculum, and to provide them with the necessary competences to efficiently apply this knowledge, and to manage network industries in a dynamic, international and evolving framework. REQUIREMENTS The selection of EMIN students will be based on the excellence of their studies. A high level of English is required. Candidates must have obtained a BSc diploma (or equivalent) of substantial quality and level corresponding to at least 3 year studies at University, equivalent to 180 ECTS. APPLICATION Deadlines for cohort The deadlines for prospective students to send their applications depend on the pathway chosen: Comillas-Comillas-Paris - June, 30th Paris-Paris-Comillas - June, 5th Delft-Delft-Comillas - June, 1st DURATION Start: August or September 2016 (depends on the first hosting University). Depending on the pathway followed during the training period, the EMIN student can obtain the degrees included in one of the next two options: 1. Master in the Electric Power Industry + Master in Numerical Economics and Network Industries. 2. Master in the Electric Power Industry + Master in Engineering and Policy Analysis. There are three different pathways that students are allocated to based on the background and preferences: Pathway 1: A student with an engineering background may opt to acquire specialist training in policy analysis, and in regulation of the electric power industry. Pathway 2: An engineer graduate wishing to become an expert on economics and regulation, with an in-depth knowledge of the power sector. Pathway 3: An economics graduate with this same economics and regulatory approach. The training of EMIN students combines, in a coordinated manner, the economics of network industries, the management and policy of infrastructures, the regulation of key sectors for the development of the European single market, and the technological aspects that characterise network industries from other sectors. This interdisciplinary nature is one of the most unique features of the EMIN joint programme, and it requires careful design in order to guarantee that students with different backgrounds (economics and engineering) are able to supplement their previous training with new concepts and areas of knowledge while keeping the cohesiveness of the whole programme. MASTER THESIS AND INTERNSHIPS (30 ECTS): To be carried by students at any of the EMIN partner universities, with the collaboration of the industry partners that will support the development of professional internship of EMIN students during the last stage of their studies. ACREDITACIÓN EUROPEA EUR-AC El Máster Universitario en Sistemas Ferroviarios de Comillas ICAI ha obtenido en 2014 la acreditación europea en ingeniería EUR-ACE (European Accreditation of Engineering Programmes), el sello de excelencia que promueve la European Network for Accreditation of Engineering Education (ENAEE) para identificar y reconocer internacionalmente la calidad de las titulaciones universitarias en el área de la ingeniería. Máster Universitario en Sistemas Ferroviarios MSF DIRIGIDO A Este máster está dirigido a ingenieros que deseen integrarse en el sector ferroviario de manera satisfactoria, o a profesionales del sector que deseen complementar su formación. Estos últimos tienen la posibilidad de completar el máster en dos cursos consecutivos como alumnos a tiempo parcial. OBJETIVOS Formar profesionales que se integren en las diversas líneas de negocio que ofrece el sector ferroviario: Señalización y Sistemas de Control, Gestión y Explotación, Infraestructura y Material Rodante. La posibilidad de cursar sólo algunos módulos del programa permite cubrir los objetivos de formación continua de los profesionales. 10 RESEARCH LINES PhD Program in Power Systems: oriented to topics related with energy and electricity sectors, especially generation, transmission and distribution of electrical power. PhD Program in Engineering Systems Modeling: oriented to systems modeling and its applications to a broad range of Engineering Systems. Although dissertations may be written and defended in both languages, at least a B2 English level according to the CEFR is required. STUDENT PROFILE Ph.D. candidates in the area of Power Systems and Engineering Systems willing to develop their research work within a research group and in collaboration with the industrial sector. OBJECTIVES The general objective of these Ph.D. programs is to research and to train Doctors in the field of Power Systems and Engineering Systems capable of taking charge of R & D & i activities or consultancy and specialized assessment tasks. Teamwork and participation in international projects in collaboration with companies and institutions from other countries is encouraged. REQUIREMENTS Applicants must fulfill the following: Have earned the equivalent of 300 ECTS credits, including at least 60 credits on Máster s level. Hold a degree in Engineering or in an area of knowledge related to the research line. Good academic record. B2 English level according to the CEFR. Any lack of training identified may require the students to perform up to 45 ECTS credits from courses at doctoral level. PROGRAM Each doctoral candidate is assigned to a research line (RL ) with a supervisor The program comprises training activities, research activities and mobility: Training activities consist of seminars and workshops. The common language of instruction is English. Research activities will be conducted within research groups, participating in their activities and including collaboration in specific international projects. Research activities include research work per-se and the publication of the findings. Mobility is an optional activity. Spending at least three months in a foreign university is highly recommended.
