2 Welcome Aboard YCAT Yuma County Area Transit (YCAT) provides fixed route bus, vanpool and complementary paratransit service throughout southwestern Yuma County and eastern Imperial County. YCAT s service area includes: Yuma San Luis Somerton Wellton Cocopah and Fort Yuma Indian Reservations Winterhaven El Centro Gadsden Tacna Ligurta Fortuna Foothills. Service Hours Monday-Friday: 5:50 AM to 7:30 PM, with limited evening service until 11:30 PM Saturday: 9:00 AM. to 6:30 PM Sunday: No service See timetables inside for details. Holidays No service is provided on New Years Day, Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day, Presidents Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Veterans Day, Thanksgiving Day and Christmas Day. Saturday schedule operates on Christmas Eve, New Years Eve and the day after Thanksgiving. How to Use This Guide This guide provides everything you need to know to ride YCAT s bus routes. Here s how to use it. 1. Use the downtown Yuma route map (Page 22) and the systemwide map (found in the centerfold of the guide) to identify the route or routes that connect the places you wish to travel between. 2. Use the table of contents on the cover to find the page for your route(s). For each route, the guide includes a detailed route map and a timetable for each direction of travel. 3. The individual route maps will show major destinations and timepoints along the route. The locations where transfers can be made will also be shown on the route map. 4. The timetables shows when the bus serves major stops along the route (timepoints). The timepoints are shown across the top of the timetable. Select the timetable for your direction of travel. Then read down from the timepoint where you will be boarding to see what times the bus will serve that stop. Then read to the right to see when it will reach your destination stop. 5. The bus also serves many other stops in between the timepoints. Use the timepoint before your stop to estimate the time the bus will reach your stop and then be at the stop 5 minutes early as travel times may vary. 6. Please note that not all trips operate on Saturday. The timetable will indicate which trips run on Saturday. cattrax: All YCAT routes are cattrax enabled. To find out when the next bus will come in real time: Text the bus stop number (available in this guide, online or on the bus stop sign) as yuma ### to Visit Call (928) Information about other YCAT services including YCAT OnCall and Vanpool is included later in the book. Cómo usar esta guía Esta guía incluye todo lo que necesita saber para viajar por las rutas de autobús de YCAT. Aquí le indicamos cómo usar el servicio. 1. Con el mapa de rutas del centro de Yuma (página 22) y el mapa de todo el sistema (que se encuentra en el centro de esta guía), identifique la ruta o las rutas que conectan los lugares entre los que quiere viajar. 2. En el índice de la portada, ubique la página correspondiente a sus rutas. Esta guía ofrece un mapa de ruta detallado para cada ruta y un horario para cada dirección de viaje. YCAT RIDER S GUIDE 3. Los mapas de rutas individuales muestran los principales destinos y horarios a lo largo de la ruta. En el mapa de rutas también se indicarán los lugares donde se pueden efectuar trasbordos. 4. Los horarios indican a qué hora pasa el autobús por las principales paradas a lo largo de la ruta, las cuales aparecen en la parte superior del horario. Seleccione el horario correspondiente a su dirección de viaje. Luego lea a partir de la parada en la que quiere abordar el autobús para ver a qué horas pasará el autobús por esa parada. Luego lea hacia la derecha para ver cuándo llegará a su parada de destino. 5. El autobús también pasa por muchas otras paradas entre las paradas principales indicadas. 10 Brown Route 3 - Fortuna Foothills Shuttle Route Map Gold Route 8 - Interstate 8 / Wellton Route Map Flexible Service Brown Route 3 provides flexible mini-bus service throughout most of Fortuna Foothills and Mesa Del Sol. The bus will take you anywhere in the route zone shown on the map or to a timed transfer with Orange Route 2 at AWC/NAU/UA. You can catch the bus at the timepoints shown on the schedule for the regular fare. You can be picked up at your door by calling (928) at least 30 minutes prior to the start of the trip. (Reservations can be made up to 24 hours in advance.) There is an additional $2.00 fee for being picked up at your door. Please note that the vehicle may arrive up to 5 minutes before or after your scheduled pick-up time. For reserved pickups: Latest allowable reservation is 5:20 PM on weekdays. Latest allowable reservation is 1:50 PM on Saturdays. Gold Route 8 can flex off route to pick up or drop off passegers up to 1-1/2 mile on either side of the route. Passengers may request the bus to flex off route by asking the Bus Operator or calling (928) at least 60 minutes in advance. Requests for flex stops are limited to the first four (4) requests per one-way trip. There is an additional fare of $2.00 for all passengers who request a flex. 10

32 How to Ride YCAT Bus Stops: YCAT buses only stop at signed bus stops. Flag stops are not permitted. A complete bus stop list for each route is available on our website at or pick up a bus stop Guide on the bus. Catching the Bus: Be at the bus 5 minutes before the scheduled departure. Make sure the driver can see you. Check the headsign on the front of the bus to insure you board the correct route. Paying your Fare: Be ready to pay your fare or present your pass when you board. Exact fare only. Bus Operators cannot make change. Exiting the Bus: When you see your destination or transfer point, signal the bus operator, by pulling the cord near the window, pushing the yellow strip or calling out next stop. Please provide enough notice, so that the bus operator can stop safely. If you are not familiar with the area, ask the bus operator for assistance. Flex Route Deviations: On some routes you can request to be picked up or dropped off at locations between regularly schedule bus stops. Deviations are available: Anywhere along Brown Route 3 within the Fortuna Foothills. Blue Route 5 within the Fort Yuma Indian Reservation and within 3/4 mile radius of the actual route. Purple Route 6A within the Cocopah Indian Reservations. Gold Route 8 within 1-1/2 mile radius of the actual route. For deviated drop off, just ask your bus operator. To be picked up, call (928) , at least one hour prior to the bus coming by your location to request a deviation. Deviations are limited to the first four (4) requests per one way trip. Please call ahead to cancel if the deviation is no longer needed to allow another person the opportunity to ride. Night Owl: At night, upon request, the bus operator can stop at a location that is closer to your final destination rather than the regular stop. The bus operator will determine where it is safe to pull over. Bicycles: Bicycle racks are located on the front of all YCAT buses. Racks are available on a first come-first served basis. Riders are responsible for loading and unloading bicycles, and use the racks at their own risk. Please let the driver know when you need to load or unload a bike. Animals on YCAT: Service animals are welcome. Nonservice animals may travel on the bus if secured in a cage or muzzle. Lost and Found: If you leave an item on a YCAT vehicle, please call (928) to see if it has been retrieved. YCIPTA or its contractors are not responsible for lost or stolen items on board its vehicles. Mobility Training: New to transit? Learn how to ride YCAT and plan your trip.
