2 Warm up Welcome Nice to see you again! I already made a decision about where to go in Colombia. Now, I want to go shopping for some clothes and other stuff I need for my trip. In this learning material, we are going to learn some shopping-related vocabulary and expressions people commonly use to participate in commercial transactions. Let`s go shopping! Tomorrow morning, my friend Sammy is coming with me to the shopping mall. She wants to help me out with the shopping, but first, I need to write a shopping list with all the items I want to buy for my trip to Colombia. I already grabbed a pen and a piece of paper. 3 Warm up First of all, I need to buy a big suitcase to pack all my stuff. Well, I think two suitcases will be enough. I don t know much about Colombia so I think I may need a good travel guide with detailed information about the country. I already decided I want to go to Bogota, Medellin and San Andres. These three cities weather is very different so I need to buy some warm clothes and some summer clothes. I want to take nice pictures of Colombia to show my family and friends when I get back home so I need to buy a good photo camera. I also need to buy some medicine to use in case I feel sick. Oh! I can t forget about the gifts. I also need to buy some presents to give Linda and her family. I know Tim likes soccer, so a soccer ball seems to be the perfect gift for him. 5 Let s get inside Sammy: Hi, Daryl! Nice to see you again! How are you? Daryl: Hi, Sammy! I m great. I m very excited about this new trip to Colombia. This is the first time I m going to visit Colombia. Sammy: I read there are different kinds of weather in Colombia. I think you need to buy different kinds of clothes. Seller : Hi, Daryl! Nice to see you again! How are you? Sammy: Good morning! My friend wants to go on a trip to Colombia. Colombia is a tropical country and we want to know what kind of clothes he should buy. Seller: Well, it all depends on the weather conditions this country has. Daryl: I want to visit San Andres Island first. San Andres is a very hot and sunny place. It has beautiful beaches. I love discounts. I want to try a jacket on. Do you have this jacket in large size, please? Seller: Sure, we do sir. But in a different color, there s this large size jacket in black. Daryl: That s just perfect! Where can I try this on please? Seller: The men changing rooms are over there. Daryl: Ok, I m ready; I think I have everything I need: nice summer clothes and warm clothes, suitcases, and a brand new camera. Mmmm. Wow! How much is all this? Seller: Ok, let s see, it is U$ 825, plus taxes it s U$ 895 altogether. Cash or credit card? Daryl: Here s my credit card Seller: Ok. Anything else, sir? Daryl: Oh no, I think I m all set, thank you!
