Take the product to the appliance repair shop of your choice for inspection and repair. 6 Parts Before First Use 1. Clean the Travel Mug, Lid, Reusable Mesh Filter, and Filter Basket in warm, soapy water; thoroughly rinse. 2. Brew two Mugs of water according to the Brewing Coffee section, but do not add coffee grounds. This will remove any dust that may be within the product. Brewing Coffee 1. Lift the Water Reservoir Lid and fill the Water Reservoir with the desired amount of 8 fl oz (236 ml), 12 fl oz (354 ml), ortothemaximumof 15 fl oz (443 ml) of water, as indicated inside the Water Reservoir (see Fig. 1). 5

7 2. Put three tablespoons of finely ground coffee, four tablespoons of regular ground coffee, or one filter pack coffee pod (a single-cup, round and soft, filter pack coffee pod) into the Reusable Mesh Filter. NOTE: Regular coffee grounds require more coffee per cup to achieve the strength of finer coffee grounds. 3. Gently shake the Reusable Mesh Filter to evenly distribute the ground coffee. 4. For stronger coffee when using filter pack coffee pods, two filter pack coffee pods are required. Place one filter pack coffee pod into the Filter Basket and one filter pack coffee pod into the Reusable Mesh Filter (see Fig. 2). NOTICE: Do not place more than one filter pack coffee pod in the Reusable Mesh filter. 5. Once the Reusable Mesh Filter is filled with the desired amount of coffee or filter pack coffee pods, lower the handle of the Reusable Mesh Filter through the handle of the Filter Basket (1), raise the handle of the Reusable Mesh Filter into the grooves on the inside of the Filter Basket s handle (2), and then lower the Reusable Mesh Filter into the Filter Basket (3) (see Fig. 3). NOTICE: A paper filter cannot be used in place of the Reusable Mesh Filter. 6. Close the Water Reservoir Lid. 7. Place the Lid securely onto the top of the Travel Mug and place the Travel Mug on the Base (see Fig. 4). 8. Plug the Power Cord into a standard 120-volt AC electrical outlet. 6

8 9. Press the Start Button; the Indicator Light will illuminate, verifying that the Coffeemaker is operating. CAUTION: Do not open the Water Reservoir Lid during the brew cycle, as scalding may occur. 10. Allow all the coffee to drip from the Brew Basket into the Travel Mug before removing the Travel Mug. NOTE: Since coffee grounds absorb some water during brewing, the amount of brewed coffee will be slightly less than the amount of water poured into the Water Reservoir. 11. When the brewing cycle is complete, the Indicator Light will shut off and the unit will no longer heat. 12. If brewing another Travel Mug of coffee at this time, proceed to the Brewing a Second Mug of Coffee section. 13. When all brewing is complete, unplug the Power Cord from the electrical outlet. NOTE: The Start Button on this product is a thermally-operated activation switch for starting a brewing cycle. Pressing it again after the start of a brewing cycle will not stop the product from operating. To interrupt a brewing cycle, unplug the product from the electrical outlet. If the Indicator Light comes ON when the product is first plugged in, wait approximately 30 seconds for it to go OFF before using the product. Brewing a Second Mug of Coffee: To brew another Mug of coffee, allow the Coffeemaker to completely cool (about three minutes) after the Indicator Light has shut off. Rinse the Mug and the Reusable Mesh Filter with water. Repeat the brewing procedure. WARNING: If the Coffeemaker does not cool completely before reuse, water placed in the Water Reservoir may overheat. This can cause steam to escape, resulting in a risk of burns and/or personal injury. 7

9 NOTICE: Attempting to start another brewing cycle before the Coffeemaker cools may result in an incomplete cycle; the unit employs a thermal reset switch to prevent overheating and may shut down. Hints for Great-Tasting Coffee: Always use fresh, cold water. For stronger or milder coffee, increase or decrease the amount of coffee grounds to suit your taste. Finer coffee grinds, such as Drip and Automatic Drip Coffeemaker (ADC) coffee grounds, promote a full extraction of flavor and a rich, full-bodied coffee. Store unused coffee grounds in a cool, dry place. After opening a package of coffee grounds, tightly reseal it and store it in the refrigerator to maintain freshness. For optimum coffee taste, buy whole coffee beans and finely grind them just before brewing. Do not reuse coffee grounds; this greatly reduces the coffee s flavor. Reheating coffee is not recommended as coffee is at its peak flavor immediately after brewing. A clean Coffeemaker is essential for making great-tasting coffee. Clean regularly as specified in the Care and Maintenance section. A small amount of oil on the surface of brewed coffee is due to the release of oil from roasted coffee beans. Heavily-roasted coffee beans release more oil than others. Regularly cleaning your Coffeemaker will prevent an oily buildup. Care and Maintenance WARNING: Always unplug the power cord from the electrical outlet and allow to cool completely before cleaning or storing. Cleaning: The Reusable Mesh Filter must be washed by hand and the travel mug, Lid, and Filter Basket may be placed on the upper rack of a dishwasher for cleaning or hand wash with warm, soapy water; this 8

10 is our recommended and preferred method. NOTE: When washed in a dishwasher, the parts may appear to fade. Restore by polishing them with a soft, dry cloth. Wipe the exterior surface of the Coffeemaker with a soft, damp cloth. Do not use metal scouring pads or abrasive cleaners. Removing Mineral Deposits: To keep your Coffeemaker operating efficiently, remove mineral deposits left by water. At least once a month, use a water and vinegar household cleaning solution as described below to prevent the buildup of mineral deposits. If the water in your area is especially high in minerals, do this every two weeks. 1. Fill the Travel Mug with one part of white vinegar and three parts of cold water. 2. Pour the water and vinegar mixture into the Water Reservoir. 3. Place the Travel Mug (Lid off) onto the Base. 4. Press the Start Button; the Indicator Light will illuminate. NOTE: During cleaning, more steam occurs than when brewing coffee. 5. When the water-vinegar solution stops dripping into the Travel Mug, allow the Coffeemaker to cool for three minutes. Remove, rinse, replace the Reusable Mesh Filter, and pour the water-vinegar into the Water Reservoir again. 6. Press the Start Button. Allow all of the solution to drip into the Travel Mug. 7. Discard the cleaning solution from the Travel Mug. 8. Allow the Coffeemaker to cool for three minutes, then remove, rinse, and replace the Filter Basket. 9. Rinse the Coffeemaker by brewing a Travel Mug of cold water. 10. Clean the Travel Mug in soapy water; rinse and dry. Storing: Allow the Coffeemaker to completely cool before storing in a cool, dry location. 9

Lave la taza viajera, tapa, filtro de malla reusable y cesta para filtro en agua tibia y jabón; enjuague a fondo. 2. Cuele dos tazas de agua de acuerdo a la sección "Preparación del Café", pero no agregue café molido. Esto eliminará cualquier polvo que pueda haber en el interior del producto. Coloque tres cucharadas de café finamente molido, cuatro cucharadas de café molido normal, o un paquete tipo pod de café (bolsas suaves usadas para una sola taza de café) en el filtro de malla reusable. Nota: El café molido normal requiere más café por taza para alcanzar el sabor del café molido más finamente. 3. Sacuda suavemente el filtro de malla reusable para distribuir uniformemente el café molido. 4. Para un café más fuerte cuando use paquetes tipo pod de café, utilice dos paquetes. Coloque un paquete / pod de café en la cesta del filtro y un paquete / pod de café enelfiltrodemalla reusable (ver Fig. 2). Una vez que el filtro de malla reusable se llena con la cantidad deseada de café o paquete /pod de café, baje el asa del filtro de malla reusable a través del asa de la cesta para filtro (1), lleve el asa del filtro de malla reusable hacia las ranuras en el interior de la manija de la cesta para filtro (2), y luego baje el filtro de malla reusable en la cesta para filtro (3) (ver Fig. 3). AVISO: Nunca utilice un filtro de papel en lugar del filtro de malla reusable. 6. Cierre la tapa del depósito de agua. 7. Coloque la tapa firmemente en la parte superior de la taza y coloque la taza en la Base (ver Fig. 4). 8. Enchufe el cable en un tomacorriente eléctrico estándar de 120 voltios AC. 18 9. Pulse el botón de encendido; la luz indicadora se ilumina para confirmar que la cafetera está en funcionamiento. CUIDADO: No abra la tapa del depósito de agua durante el ciclo de preparación, ya que hacerlo puede producir quemaduras. 10. Deje que todo el café gotee desde la cesta a la taza viajera antes de retirar la taza viajera. NOTA: Debido a que el café molido absorbe un poco de agua durante la elaboración del café, la cantidad de café colado será ligeramente inferior a la cantidad de agua que se vierte en el depósito de agua. 11. Cuando el ciclo de preparación se ha completado, la luz indicadora se apagará y la unidad ya no calentara más. 12. Si desea preparar otra taza de café enestemomento,vaya ala sección "Preparación de una segunda taza de café". 13. Recomendaciones para un café excelente: Utilice siempre agua fresca y fría. Para un café más fuerte o más suave, aumente o disminuya la cantidad de café molido de acuerdo a su gusto. Café molido más finamente, como cafés molidos para Cafeteras de Goteo Automáticas (ADC), permite una extracción más completa del sabor y un café más rico, con más cuerpo. Almacene el café molido no utilizado en un lugar fresco y seco. Después de abrir un paquete de café molido, ciérrelo completamente y guárdelo en el refrigerador para mantener la frescura. Para café con gusto óptimo, compre granos de café enteros y muélalos finamente justo antes de hacer el café. No reutilice café molido; esto reduce en gran medida el sabor del café. No se recomienda recalentar el café, ya que este alcanza su mejor sabor inmediatamente después de la preparación. Una cafetera limpia es esencial para hacer un buen café. Limpie su cafetera regularmente como se especifica en la sección "Cuidado y Mantenimiento". Una pequeña cantidad de aceite en la superficie del café preparado se debe a la liberación del aceite contenido en los granos de café tostado. Granos de café muy tostados liberan más aceite que los demás. La limpieza regular de su cafetera evitará la acumulación de aceite. 18

20 Cuidado y Mantenimiento ADVERTENCIA: Siempre desenchufe el cable eléctrico del tomacorriente y deje que la cafetera se enfríe completamente antes de limpiar o guardar. Limpieza: El filtro de malla reutilizable se debe lavar a mano y la taza, la tapa y la cesta para filtro se pueden colocar en la rejilla superior del lavavajillas o se pueden lavar a mano con agua tibia y jabón; este es nuestro método preferido y recomendado. Nota: Cuando se lavan en el lavavajillas, las partes pueden mancharse. Límpielas con un paño suave y seco. Limpie la superficie exterior de la cafetera con un paño suave y húmedo. No use limpiadores abrasivos ni esponjas de metal. Como Quitar los Depósitos de Minerales: Para mantener su cafetera operando eficientemente, elimine los depósitos minerales que deja el agua. Por lo menos una vez al mes, utilice una solución de limpieza doméstica de agua y vinagre como se describe a continuación para evitar la acumulación de depósitos minerales. Si el agua de su zona es especialmente alta en minerales, siga este proceso cada dos semanas. 1. Llene la taza viajera con una parte de vinagre blanco y tres partes de agua fría. 2. Vierta la mezcla de agua y vinagre en el depósito de agua. 3. Coloque la taza viajera sin tapa en la Base. 4. Pulse el Botón de Encendido; La luz indicadora se encenderá. NOTA: Durante la limpieza, se produce más vapor que cuando se prepara café. 5. Cuando la solución de vinagre de agua deja de gotear en la taza viajera, deje que la cafetera se enfríe durante tres minutos. Retire, enjuague, y vuelva a colocar el filtro de malla reusable, y vierta nuevamente una solución de vinagre y agua en el depósito de agua. 6. Pulse el Botón de Encendido. 21 8. Deje que la cafetera se enfríe durante tres minutos, luego retire, enjuague, y vuelva a colocar el filtro de malla reusable y la cesta para filtro. 9. Enjuague la cafetera preparando una taza de agua (sin café en el filtro). 10. Limpie la taza viajera con agua y jabón; enjuague y seque.
