1 The Occupational Safety and Health Act (OSHA) The Act requires each worker to comply with occupational safety and health standards, as well as all rules, regulations, and orders issued under the Act that apply to his or her own actions and conduct. Staff Responsibilities: Workplace Safety - The Role of Staff Read the OSHA poster at your jobsite. Comply with any applicable OSHA standards. Follow all of your employer's safety and health standards and rules. Wear and use prescribed personal protective equipment. Report hazardous conditions to your supervisor. Report any job-related injuries or illnesses to your employer and seek treatment promptly. Cooperate with OSHA compliance officer when conducting an inspection if he/she inquires about conditions at your jobsite. Exercise your rights under the Act responsibly. Staff Rights: Obtain a copy of the OSHA standards and other rules, regulations, and requirements from your employer. Request information from your employer on safety and health hazards in your work area, on precautions you need to take, and on what you must do if you are involved in an accident or exposed to toxic substances. Accompany the OSHA compliance officer during the inspection walk around if you are designated by your union or worker association. Observe monitoring or measuring of hazardous materials, including the right of access to records on those materials, as specified in regulations under the Act. Request access to Safety Data Sheets for information on whether any substance in your workplace has potentially hazards and controls for chemicals used in the job place. If you have any questions or concerns regarding know or possible hazards in the workplace, ask your supervisor!

3 La Ley de Seguridad y Salud Ocupacionales (OSHA) Esta Ley indica que todos los trabajadores deben cumplir con las normas de seguridad y salud ocupacionales, como así también con todas las reglas, reglamentos e instrucciones emitidos de conformidad con la Ley que se apliquen a sus propias acciones y comportamiento. Obligaciones del personal: Leer el póster de OSHA en su lugar de trabajo. Cumplir con las normas de OSHA que correspondan. Seguir todas las normas y reglas de seguridad y salud de su empleador. Usar los equipos de protección personal designados. Informar a su supervisor sobre condiciones peligrosas. Informar a su empleador sobre lesiones o enfermedades relativas al trabajo y solicitar tratamiento oportunamente. Cooperar con el encargado del cumplimiento de OSHA si durante las investigaciones tiene alguna pregunta relativa a las condiciones en su lugar de trabajo. Ejercer sus derechos estipulados por la Ley de manera responsable.

4 Derechos del personal: Obtener del empleador una copia de las normas de OSHA y de otras reglas, reglamentos y requisitos. Solicitar información a su empleador sobre los riesgos para la seguridad y la salud en su área de trabajo, sobre las precauciones que debe tomar y sobre lo que debe hacer en caso de accidente o de exposición a sustancias tóxicas. Acompañar al encargado del cumplimiento de OSHA durante la recorrida de inspección, si ha sido designado a tal efecto por su sindicato o asociación de trabajadores. Observar el monitoreo o medición de los materiales peligrosos, incluyendo el derecho de acceder a los registros de dichos materiales, según lo especificado en reglamentos conformes a la Ley. Solicitar acceso a las Hojas de Datos de Seguridad de Materiales para obtener información sobre los posibles riesgos y controles químicos de las sustancias utilizadas en su lugar de trabajo. Si tiene alguna pregunta o inquietud con respecto a riesgos potenciales o conocidos en el lugar de trabajo, consulte a su supervisor.
