Demonstrative Adjectives Demonstrative adjectives are words that help you point out specific things. Read the following sentences, paying attention to the boldfaced words. EXPLANATION: Demonstrative adjectives indicate the location of a person or thing in relation to the speaker. Este and estos (this, these) refer to what is near the speaker. Ese and esos (that, those) refer to what is near the person addressed. Aquel and aquellos (that, those) refer to what is far from both the speaker and the person addressed. All demonstrative adjectives go before the noun they describe and agree with the noun in gender and number.
