Bodegas y Viñedos Pujanza is a small familiar winery that started in 1998. Carlos San Pedro, owner and technical director of the winery, is the fourth generation of a family with a great viticulture tradition. Bodegas y Viñedos Pujanza is his personal project, an idea he had since his childhood and today it has become a reality. Winery enclose so important parameters to make high quality wines like own vineyard and a limited production. Bodegas y Viñedos Pujanza is located in Laguardia, in the heart of Rioja Alavesa, one of the most beautiful villages of Spain, with a great culture an historic heritage.
PUJANZA HADO 2011 Vineyards: Own vineyards at 600 m. (2.000 ft.) of altitude. Clay-limestone soil. Grape Variety: TEMPRANILLO. Harvest: 1st October fortnight. Winemaking: Pre-fermentative maceration during 5 days. Alcoholic fermentation tooks place in stainless steel vats with daily rackings. Malolactic fermentation is carried out in the same vats. Ageing: 12 Months in French Oak barrels. Finca La Lobera
PUJANZA FINCA VALDEPOLEO 2011 Vineyard: FINCA VALDEPOLEO Features: 17,5 has. (43 acres) vineyard planted in 1973 at 630 m. (2.070 ft.). of altitude. Clay-limestone soil. Yield: 4.500 kg/ha. Grape Variety: TEMPRANILLO. Harvest: Between 7th & 11th October 2011. Winemaking: Fermentation tooks place in small stainless steel vats divided by soil types. Malolactic fermentation is made in same tanks. Ageing: 14 months in French Oak. Finca Valdepoleo.
PUJANZA NORTE 2011 Vineyard: FINCA NORTE Features: Own vineyard located at 720 m. (2.200 ft.) of altitude with 2,7 has. (6,3 acres). Clay-limestone soil with a calcareous stone level (50 cm. (1ft.7 in.) depth). Yield: 3.500 kg./ha. Grape varieties: TEMPRANILLO. Harvest: 12th October 2011. Winemaking: Fermentation tooks place in small stainless steel vats. Indigenous yeasts. Malolactic fermentation is made in same tanks. Ageing: 16 months in French Oak. Finca Norte.
PUJANZA CISMA 2009 Vineyard: FINCA LA VALCABADA Features: 0,8 has. (1,4 ac.) vineyard planted in 1925 at 600 m. (2.000 ft.) of altitude. Claylimestone deep soil. Yield: 1.500 kg/ha. Grape Variety: TEMPRANILLO. Harvest: 8th October 2009. Winemaking: Winemaking is carried out in a 1.700 kg. French oak vat with de-stemmed grapes. Ageing: 22 months in 225 l. French oak barrels. Finca La Valcabada.
AÑADAS FRÍAS 2010 Vineyard: SAN JUAN DE ANTEPORTALATINA Features: 1,5 has. vineyard at 600 m. (2.000 ft.) of altitude. Clay-limestone soil with a high limestone content. Grape Variety: VIURA. Harvest: 4th October 2010. Winemaking & Ageing: Winemaking was made in 225 l. French Oak barrels followed by a 6 months ageing time in the same barrels. Añadas Frías is an special wine only produced twice, in 2007 & 2010 vintages, both of them cold vintages, giving name to the wine and making possible to get acidity and ph right parameters to be able to elaborate and lay down this wine.
