A Sacristan is responsible for preparing the Holy Eucharist for the celebration of the Mass. They light the candles, arrange the books, and perform a little housekeeping before Mass begins. The Sacristan makes sure that everything is set-up and ready to celebrate Mass. They also ensure at the end of Mass that everything has been cleaned and put back in it s place in the Sacristy before leaving the church. Requirements: Commitment to assist at least 1 weekend a month Ability to show up at least 30 minutes. prior to the start of the scheduled Mass Confirmed parishioner, at least 18 years old Quick learner and very organized Ability to attend a safe environment class Attend a 1-hr Sacristan Training Class at the church as well as shadow a current Sacristan before being scheduled alone. What is an Eucharistic Minister (EM) & Eucharistic Minister Captain (EMC)? First what is an Eucharistic Minister (EM), or more properly "Lay Eucharistic Minister LEM. This is a person who assists the priest in administering the sacraments of Holy Communion. They may also take the sacraments to those who are ill, or otherwise unable to attend Mass. In our church the EM typically distributes the Blood of Christ. The Eucharistic Minister Captain (EMC) usually distributes the Body of Christ. The EMC is also responsible to make sure that we have enough people to fill all the positions required to make the Mass run smoothly. The EMC will check in the EM s, Readers, Ushers and Altar Servers and where needed will find a substitute to fill in. The EMC is also responsible to clean the vessels after Mass. ACTS 4:32 During this Easter season, the universality of the catholic faith is highlighted. We are called to share what we have with all in our community. As of the end of March 2018, we have a total of $2,962,152 of the $6,100,000 needed thanks to the generosity of our community of believers who are living the above scripture. The community of Holy Cross needs you now more than ever. We need your prayers, pledges, and donations to the GIFT campaign as we begin Phase 2 of our building construction.
