1 While some try to claim that there is no place for the Spanish language and Latino culture in the United States, we choose to celebrate in this country. From the American Revolution to the birth of Jazz, Rock and Roll and Hip Hop, Spanish-speakers have been a part of everything that this country holds as sacred. A man with a heavy accent named Desi created the American sitcom, while a Mexican named Guillermo helped invent color TV. We work the land and explore space. We are our nation s most prolific entrepreneurs creating businesses big and small. And our contributions don t end there. Latino men and women are also among our bravest soldiers and first responders. Our ability to speak more than one language or dance to more than one rhythm doesn t make us any less American. We live bicultural and bilingual lives. We speak the language of freedom, faith and family first. We speak the language of new beginnings, hard work and a better tomorrow. We speak the language of heroes, courage and sacrifice. We dream American dreams. We value American values. is a new initiative from Univision Communications Inc. that celebrates the Spanish language and Latino culture in our country.

3 We believe that our nation is greater because of Spanish-speakers and their contributions. We believe that Latinos value American values and dream American dreams. We believe that Spanish-speakers are just as American as their English-only neighbors. We believe that this country is better because of our youth, our drive and our ingenuity. We believe that now is the time to speak up and fight fear with facts.

4 Mientras algunos tratan de afirmar que el español y la cultura latina no tienen lugar en los Estados Unidos, nosotros preferimos celebrar el español en esta nación. Desde la época de la Revolución estadounidense hasta el nacimiento del Jazz, el y el, los latinos hemos sido parte de todo lo que este país considera sagrado.
