1 Vocation Prayer for Parents O Lord, we give You thanks for our mothers and fathers. Help our parents be good examples of faith, hope, and love to us. Lord, may they show us, their sons and daughters, how to follow you. If you call one of us to be a priest, sister, brother or deacon, help our parents to be grateful and supportive in our decision to be of loving service to others. 4 A Students Prayer Campaign for Vocations Through the Sacrament of Baptism, each person receives a call or vocation. God calls all that are baptized to holiness and service. This call is lived as a single, married, ordained or consecrated person. God calls each of us to follow Him in one of these ways. An ordained person is a deacon or a priest. A consecrated person is a religious brother, religious sister or religious priest. We should pray and listen carefully so that we may hear and follow God s plan for us. As part of A Students Prayer Campaign for Vocations, a crucifix may be used and placed in a prominent place in the classroom or home and a time selected to pray for vocations. Each weekday, Monday through Friday, we pray for a different vocation as well as for the grace to listen to wh0 God is calling us to be. After the teacher or parent prays the prayer for the day, the students together pray an Our Father and a Hail Mary. Then a moment of silence is observed to listen to what God is saying. After a week, the prayer campaign and the crucifix are passed to another classroom or home for their special prayers for vocations and so on through all the grade levels or families. Ayúdanos a escucharte siempre y a pasar parte del día en oración y quietud para que podamos oír lo que nos estás diciendo. Esta es la única forma de conocerte mejor a ti y a nosotros mismos y darnos cuenta de nuestros talentos en la medida en que escogemos nuestro trabajo en la vida. Ayúdanos a ver y entender todos los caminos disponibles para nosotros. Ayúdanos a escoger un camino que de respuesta a tu amor por nosotros. Danos fuerza, Señor, para hacer bien cualquier cosa que escojamos. Ayúdanos a recordar llevar a cabo una vida de servicio para con nuestros semejantes. Permite que estemos siempre abiertos al plan que tú tienes y para hacer todo por tu gloria. Recuérdanos que nunca estamos solos y que tú siempre nos darás la gracia y fe para resistir cualquier cosa que se presente en nuestro camino. 5 Friday Teacher/Parent: Loving God, we thank You for the gift of life and for Your love. Help us to always listen to You and to spend part of each day in prayer and quiet so that we may hear what You are saying. That is the only way we will know You and ourselves better and to know our talents as we try to choose our life s work. Help us to see and to understand all the paths open to us. Help us to choose a life which will be a response to your love for us. Give us strength, Lord, to do well in whatever we choose. As we get older, guide us in the classes to take, strengthen us in the choices we make the easy ones and the hard ones, bless the career we select, and our vocation priesthood, consecrated life, married or single life. Help us to remember to lead a life of service for others. Let us always be open to the plan You have and to do everything for Your glory. Remind us that we are never alone and that You will always give us the grace and faith to endure whatever comes our way. We ask this through Jesus Christ, Our Lord and Redeemer. A moment of silence Una Campaña de Oración para los estudiantes a favor de las Vocaciones A través del Sacramento del Bautismo, cada persona recibe un llamado o vocación. Dios llama a todos los bautizados a la santidad y al servicio. Este llamado se vive estando soltero, casado, ordenado o como persona consagrada. Dios llama a cada uno de nosotros para seguirlo en cualquiera de esas formas. Una persona ordenada es un diácono o un sacerdote. Una persona consagrada es un hermano o hermana religiosos, o un sacerdote religioso. Nosotros debemos orar y escuchar cuidadosamente para que podamos oír y seguir el plan que Dios tiene para nosotros. Como parte de la Campaña de Oración para los Estudiantes en favor de las vocaciones, puede ser usado un crucifijo, el cual podrá ser colocado en un lugar especial en el salón de clase o en casa y en el momento elegido para rezar por las vocaciones. Cada día de la semana, de lunes a viernes, nosotros rezamos por una diferente vocación, así como también, por la gracia de escuchar lo que Dios está llamándonos a ser. Después de que el maestro o el padre de familia reza la oración del día, los estudiantes rezan juntos un Padre Nuestro y un Ave María. Posteriormente se guarda un minuto de silencio para escuchar lo que Dios nos está diciendo. Después de una semana, la campaña de oración y el crucifijo se pasan a otro salón de clase o casa a fin de rezar las oraciones especiales por las vocaciones, proceso que se aplica de igual manera en todos los diferentes grados o familias. Ayúdalos a descubrir tantas oportunidades que existen para hacer el trabajo que tú les encomiendes alimentar a los hambrientos y vestir a los pobres, escuchar a los que están solos y tristes y a irradiar la alegría de quien está siguiendo tus pasos. Help them to follow Your word and glorify Your name in the world. Bless them with friends and family members who will help them with their walk with Jesus. Help them discover the many opportunities there are to do Your work to feed the hungry and clothe the poor, to listen to those who are lonely and sad, and to radiate the joy of one who is following in Your footsteps. Help me to be the very best of what I can be and to always bring honor and glory to Your name. I want to be a true disciple of Christ. Right now I am a student who needs to study hard and listen to my teachers and parents. Help me to be good to my friends and kind to those who I don t particularly like. Help me to remember that You created all of us and we are all made in Your image and likeness. What I do to or for someone, I do to and for You. When I ask a student I don t know very well to eat lunch with my group, I am asking You to sit at my table. If I tease or call someone names, I am being mean or ugly to You. Help me to remember that I reap what I sow. If I am kind and nice to my friends and others, it comes right back to me. Give me the grace to be the best student and son or daughter that I can be. 9 Wednesday Lunes Teacher/Parent: Loving God, we thank you for the gift of life and for your love. Bless those who pursue the vocation of marriage. Help them to follow in Your footsteps and provide a loving and nurturing relationship for children. They have an awesome responsibility to show young people how to live a life of service as a priest, brother, sister or lay minister. Bless the marriages of all those I know and help them to be as devoted to each other as You are to them. We ask this through Jesus Christ, our Lord and Redeemer. Amen Student: Our Father... Hail Mary... A moment of silence Profesor/Padre de Familia: Dios amoroso, te damos gracias por el regalo de vida y por tú amor. Qué me estás llamando a hacer? Ayúdame a ser el mejor en lo que pueda hacer y para que siempre lleve honor y gloria en tú nombre. Quiero ser un auténtico discípulo de Cristo. En este momento yo soy un estudiante que necesita estudiar duro y escuchar a mis profesores y padres. Ayúdame a ser bueno con mis amigos y amable con aquellas personas que no me simpatizan. Ayúdame a recordar que tú nos creaste a todos nosotros y que todos somos creados a tú imagen y semejanza. Lo que hago para mi mismo o para alguien más, lo hago también para Ti. Cuando le pido a un estudiante que no conozco muy bien, coma el almuerzo con mi grupo, te estoy pidiendo a Ti te sientes en mi mesa. Cuando bromeo o insulto a alguien, estoy siendo grosero e ingrato contigo. Ayúdame a recordar que yo cosecho lo que siembro. Si yo soy amable y agradable con mis amigos y el resto de las personas, serán de igual manera conmigo. Dame la gracia de ser el mejor estudiante, el mejor hijo e hija que podamos ser. Help us to grow in the love and service of our Church. Grant us faithful leaders who will embrace Christ's mission of love and justice. Bless our school and parish by raising up generous leaders from our families and friends who will serve Your people as sisters, priests, brothers, and deacons. Inspire us to know You better and open our hearts to hear Your call. We ask this through Jesus Christ, our Lord and Redeemer. Amen Students: Our Father... Hail Mary...
