OBJETO Esta AIC describe los medios de predicción y notificación de disponibilidad GNSS, a disposición de los usuarios del espacio aéreo español, que puedan afectar a las operaciones basadas en especificaciones de navegación RNP incluidas en el Documento 9613 Manual de Navegación Basada en la Performance (PBN), 4ª Edición, de OACI, anticipadas anteriormente en la AIC 6/13 Implantación de maniobras de aproximación RNP APCH publicadas con el título RNAV (GNSS), y relacionadas con operaciones GBAS CAT I que serán tratadas en una futura AIC. En particular, será aplicable a las cartas de aproximación RNAV (GNSS) y a las GBAS CAT I. A. PURPOSE This AIC describes the means of predicting and notifying the availability of GNSS, to be provided to Spanish airspace users, which may affect operations based on RNP navigation specifications included in Document 9613 Performance Based Navigation Manual (PBN), 4th Edition, of ICAO, previously advanced in AIC 6/13 Implementation of RNP APCH procedures published as RNAV (GNSS), and related with GBAS CAT I which will be subject for a later AIC. In particular, it will be applicable to RNAV (GNSS) and GBAS CAT I approach charts. B. SISTEMAS Y/O FUNCIONES GNSS OBJETO DE ESTA AIC 1. GPS En España, las operaciones de aproximación que emplean la señal GPS civil L1 (Servicio de Posicionamiento Estándar (SPS)) están autorizadas en el supuesto de que la señal del SPS cumpla las prestaciones especificadas en el Volumen I del Anexo 10 de OACI. Aena mantiene una monitorización diferida de la señal GPS-SPS que se recibe en el territorio español, para supervisar el cumplimiento de prestaciones especificadas en el Anexo 10 de OACI. 2. Función RAIM (Monitorización de la Integridad Autónoma del Receptor) El uso del sistema GPS sin otras funciones complementarias está afectado por limitaciones de la constelación GPS debidas principalmente a la geometría y a las características de la señal. B. SYSTEMS AND/OR GNSS FUNCTIONS OB- JECT OF THIS AIC 1. GPS Approach operations in Spain which use L1 civil GPS signals (Standard, Positioning Service (SPS)) are authorized as long as the SPS signal complies with the performances specified in Annex 10, Volume I, of ICAO. Aena maintains a recorded monitoring of the GPS- SPS signal which is received in Spanish territory, in order to supervise its compliance with ICAO Annex 10 performances. 2. RAIM function (Receiver Autonomous Integrity Monitoring) The use of the GPS system without other complementary functions is affected by limitations of the GPS constellation mainly due to the geometry and the characteristics of the signals. 1 AIC 7/13

2 La función RAIM implementada en los receptores embarcados permite comprobar el estado de las señales recibidas de la constelación de satélites GPS. Dicha función emite una alerta indicando un posible error inaceptable de posición cuando se detecta una inconsistencia entre los pseudorangos recibidos. Esta función no está disponible cuando el número de satélites recibidos no es suficiente o su distribución geométrica es inadecuada. El número de satélites desde los que un receptor necesita recibir señales para activar la función RAIM es mayor que el que necesita para simplemente calcular su posición. El complemento con técnicas RAIM de la señal civil L1 recibida de los satélites GPS permite realizar las maniobras RNAV (GNSS) a mínimos LNAV y LNAV/VNAV. 3. EGNOS El servicio crítico (Safety of Life, SoL) de EGNOS (European Geostationary Navigation Overlay Service) es un medio de mejora de las prestaciones de la señal civil L1 del GPS, mediante la emisión de correcciones diferenciales e información de integridad de las señales del GPS vía varios satélites geoestacionarios centrados en Europa, proporcionando cobertura de prestaciones dentro de un área amplia denominada Área de servicio del sistema EGNOS especificada en el documento EGNOS Safety of Life Service Definition Document publicado por la Comisión Europea 1. Las señales SoL transmitidas por EGNOS son compatibles con los estándares y prácticas recomendadas para SBAS definidos por OACI en el Anexo 10, y permiten realizar las maniobras RNAV (GNSS) con mínimos LPV y LP así como, opcionalmente, la maniobra RNAV (GNSS) con mínimo LNAV/VNAV. 4. GBAS GBAS (Ground Based Augmentation System) es un sistema GNSS basado en tierra que mejora las prestaciones de la señal GPS civil L1 basándose en el concepto de GPS diferencial, dentro de un volumen de cobertura local en torno a la estación GBAS. A partir del conocimiento preciso de la posición de un mínimo de tres receptores de referencia, GBAS calcula y emite correcciones diferenciales para cada satélite a la vista e información del segmento The RAIM function implemented in receivers onboard allows to check the condition of signals received from the constellation of GPS satellites. Such function generates an alert to indicate a possible unacceptable position error when an inconsistency is detected among pseudo-ranges received. This function is not available when the number of satellites received is not sufficient or its geometric distribution is inadequate. The number of satellites from which a receiver needs to receive signals to activate the RAIM function is higher than the actual number needed to simply calculate its position. To complement the L1 civil signal received from GPS satellites with RAIM techniques allows to perform RNAV (GNSS) manoeuvres down to LNAV and LNAV/VNAV minima. 3. EGNOS The critical service (Safety of Life, SoL) of EGNOS (European Geostationary Navigation Overlay Service) is a means of augmentation of the performances of the L1 civil GPS signal, through the transmission of differential corrections and integrity information of GPS signals via several geostationary satellites centered in Europe, providing performance coverage within an ample area called EGNOS system service area specified in document EGNOS Safety of Life Service Definition Document published by the European Commission 1. SoL signals transmitted by EGNOS are compatible with the standards and recommended practices for SBAS defined by ICAO in Annex 10, and allow to perform RNAV (GNSS) manoeuvres down to LPV and LP minima as well as, optionally, RNAV (GNSS) manoeuvres down to LNAV/VNAV minima. 4. GBAS GBAS (Ground Based Augmentation System) is a ground based GNSS system which enhances the performances of the L1 civil GPS signal on the basis of the differential GPS concept, within a local volume of coverage surrounding the GBAS station. A bordo, un receptor decodifica el bloque de datos FAS de la aproximación seleccionada por el piloto y lo compara con la posición de la aeronave, calculada mediante GPS y las correcciones GBAS. De este modo se genera la información de guiado, que se muestra a bordo de manera similar al ILS. Las prestaciones técnicas de los sistemas GBAS cumplen los requisitos de OACI para sistemas de aproximación CAT I establecidos en el Anexo 10. GBAS presta servicio en segmentos de aproximación final. Los tramos iniciales, intermedios y de aproximación frustrada de los procedimientos GBAS se volarán de acuerdo a lo especificado en la carta de aproximación instrumental, utilizando otros sensores de navegación como puede ser GPS con mejoras RAIM o EGNOS, o radioayudas convencionales. final approach segment (FAS data block). Initial, intermediate and missed approach legs of GBAS procedures will be flown in accordance with what is specified on the instrument approach chart, using other navigation sensors such as GPS augmented with RAIM or EGNOS, or conventional navigation aids. C. PLANIFICACION PREVIA AL VUELO 1. Predicciones RAIM y EGNOS Este apartado resulta aplicable a las operaciones de aproximación RNP APCH y a los tramos iniciales e intermedios de las aproximaciones GBAS CAT I. Durante la fase de planificación previa al vuelo, la disponibilidad en el destino del RAIM (o algoritmo equivalente) o EGNOS, según el caso, deberá ser verificada por el operador (RAIM/EGNOS disponible 15 minutos antes de la hora estimada de llegada (ETA) hasta 15 minutos después de la misma). Dicha verificación puede llevarse a cabo mediante: Una herramienta de predicción RAIM a bordo o un software equivalente. En este caso, la información de la posible indisponibilidad de los satélites debe ser introducida en el programa de predicción del software o del equipo. Tal información se obtiene a través de NOTAM relacionados con la condición operativa de satélites en la constelación GPS (NANU). Es preciso la obtención del almanaque de los satélites GPS de una fuente oficial. Predicciones RAIM realizadas por software o herramientas disponibles en Internet, como Augur, que ha sido desarrollado por Eurocontrol ( Se propone la realización de predicciones para equipos con inputs barométricos y sin ellos. La disponibilidad del RAIM requiere la recepción de un número mínimo de satélites, que se reduce en C. PRE-FLIGHT PLANNING 1. RAIM and EGNOS predictions This item is applicable to RNP APCH approach operations and to initial and intermediate legs of GBAS CAT I approaches. During the pre-flight planning phase, the availability at destination of RAIM (or equivalent algorithm) or EGNOS, as appropriate, must be verified by the operator (RAIM/EGNOS available 15 minutes ahead of the estimated time of arrival (ETA) to 15 minutes after it). Such verification may be carried out by means of: An on-board prediction RAIM tool or equivalent software. In this case, information on possible unavailability of satellites must be entered in the prediction programme of the software or on-board equipment. Such information is obtained through NOTAM related with the operating conditions of satellites in the GPS constellation (NANU). It is essential to obtain the almanac of GPS satellites from an official source. RAIM predictions accomplished by software or tools available on the Internet, such as Augur, which has been developed by Eurocontrol ( They are usually capable of predictions for GPS navigation equipment with and without barometric inputs. The availability of RAIM requires the reception of a minimum number of satellites, 3 AIC 7/13

Predicciones realizadas por el Servicio de Información Aeronáutica en forma de NOTAM RAIM o EGNOS. En ellos figura el indicador OACI del aeródromo afectado por la interrupción del servicio o el área relacionada con varios aeropuertos, como puede ser uno o más FIR. El ángulo de enmascaramiento tenido en cuenta para los NOTAM RAIM está establecido en 5º. Si en el software de predicción (como Augur) se establece un ángulo superior, el operador debe comprobar que el ángulo adoptado es consistente con el empleado por el equipo a bordo. En el caso de predecir una indisponibilidad del RAIM o de EGNOS, se insta a la tripulación a emplear procedimientos de vuelo basados en otras radioayudas, elegir un aeropuerto alternativo o replanificar el vuelo. También existe la posibilidad de que Aena, a través de la supervisión diferida de las prestaciones GNSS, proceda a la cancelación temporal de las maniobras basadas en GNSS en un determinado aeropuerto o área. 2. Equipos GBAS Este apartado resulta aplicable únicamente a las aproximaciones GBAS CAT I. Durante la fase de planificación previa al vuelo, el operador deberá verificar la disponibilidad de los equipos GBAS en que se apoyan las aproximaciones GBAS CAT I que se pretende utilizar. Para ello se consultarán los NOTAM de estado GBAS, que en España tendrán un formato similar a los referidos a otras Ayudas a la Navegación como ILS, VOR, etc. En el caso de conocerse la indisponibilidad de los equipos GBAS, se insta a la tripulación a emplear procedimientos de vuelo basados en otras radioayudas, elegir un aeropuerto alternativo o replanificar el vuelo. 3. Maniobras GNSS Este apartado resulta aplicable a todas las operaciones de aproximación basadas en sistemas GNSS y complementa a los apartados anteriores. Durante la fase de planificación previa al vuelo, el operador deberá verificar la disponibilidad de las maniobras basadas en sistemas GNSS. Para ello se consultarán los NOTAM sobre disponibilidad de los procedimientos de aproximación correspondientes. which can be reduced in one if barometric altitude is integrated. GBAS Equipment This item is only applicable to GBAS CAT I approaches. During the pre-flight planning phase, the operator must check the availability of GBAS equipment on which GBAS CAT I approaches are based. This will be accomplished through the consultation of NOTAM referred to GBAS status, which in Spain will have a similar format as those referred to other navigation aids such as ILS, VOR, etc. In case the unavailability of GBAS equipment is known, crews are urged to utilize flight procedures based on other navigation aids, choose an alternate airport or plan the flight anew. 3. GNSS-based manoeuvres This item is applicable to all approach operations based on GNSS systems and complements the items above. During the pre-flight planning phase, the operator must check the availability of manoeuvres based on GNSS systems. This will be accomplished through the consultation of NOTAM referred to the availability of relevant approach procedures. 4 AIC 7/13

In case the unavailability of manoeuvres based on GNSS systems is known, crews are urged to utilize flight procedures based on other navigation aids. D. TIPOS DE NOTAM GNSS 1. Información relacionada con la condición operativa de los satélites de la constelación GPS La información relacionada con la operatividad de los satélites de la constelación GPS se puede obtener mediante: consulta directa en gov/?do=constellationstatus. consulta directa al banco de datos aeronáuticos de España (BDA) vía la opción de Petición de Boletín del interfaz ICARO, seleccionando GPS en las casillas de Tipo de info.. No obstante, esta información no proporciona directamente al operador la predicción de disponibilidad de una aproximación RNAV (GNSS) o GBAS en el aeropuerto de destino. Para ello debe emplearse una predicción RAIM realizada con los equipos de navegación embarcados o software equivalente. 2. NOTAM relacionados con la disponibilidad de la función RAIM En el caso de predecir una indisponibilidad del RAIM o de GNSS en general para aproximaciones RNP APCH o GBAS, Aena difundirá un NOTAM informando de esta eventualidad, cancelándose una vez que se estime que la predicción sobre la indisponibilidad del servicio RAIM ha finalizado. Estos NOTAM son transmitidos por el AIS-España para cada aeródromo español en donde existen cartas de aproximación instrumentales RNAV (GNSS) o GBAS (para los tramos inicial e intermedio), en el momento en el que se haya pronosticado una indisponibilidad RAIM en las siguientes 24 horas. Las predicciones de disponibilidad sólo tienen en cuenta funciones RAIM con información barométrica integrada. No se difunden NOTAM relativos a RAIM para indisponibilidades previstas de menos de 5 minutos. El formato de los campos Q) y E) en los NOTAM relacionados con la función RAIM del GPS, es el siguiente: Campo Q): - Código para el asunto: GA (operación específica GNSS para aeródromos). D. TYPES OF GNSS NOTAM 1. Information related with the operating condition of GPS constellation satellites Information related with the operational capacity of satellites in the GPS constellation (NANU) may be obtained through: direct consultation on uscg.gov/?do=constellationstatus. direct consultation to the aeronautical data bank of Spain (BDA) via the option of Bulletin Request of the ICARO interface, by selecting GPS on the Type of info. boxes. Nevertheless, this information does not directly provide the operator with the prediction of availability of a RNAV (GNSS) or GBAS approach at the airport of destination. A RAIM prediction accomplished with airborne navigation equipment or equivalent software must be used to achieve it. 2. NOTAM related with the availability of the RAIM function In case of predicting a general RAIM or GNSS unavailability for RNP APCH or GBAS approaches, Aena will disseminate a NOTAM to report this occurrence, being this cancelled once it is estimated that, according to the prediction, the unavailability of the RAIM service has ended. These NOTAM are distributed by AIS-España for every Spanish aerodrome where RNAV (GNSS) or GBAS (for initial and intermediate legs) instrument approach charts exist, at the time when a RAIM unavailability has been forecast for the next 24 hours. Predictions of availability only take into account RAIM functions with integrated barometric information. NOTAM related to RAIM unavailability forecasts of less than 5 minutes are not disseminated. NOTAM related to GBAS equipment These are specific for every airport for which GBAS CAT I approaches have been published, and inform about the unavailability of the GBAS equipment involved. Its format is similar to that of the unavailability of other navigation aids (ILS, VOR, etc.) save for the inclusion of the proper changes referred to the designation of the system. 5. DURANTE EL VUELO Durante el vuelo, la operación por defecto de los procedimientos RNAV (GNSS) y de los tramos inicial, intermedio y frustrada de aquellas aproximaciones GBAS CAT I que requieran del sensor GNSS, estará basada en información en tiempo real de la disponibilidad de la señal GPS, independientemente de las predicciones GNSS previas al vuelo. En cambio, cualquier información sobre indisponibilidad de equipos GBAS o maniobras GNSS recibida durante el vuelo, deberá ser tenida en cuenta para las operaciones en el momento de recibirse. E. IN-FLIGHT During the flight, the operation by default of RNAV (GNSS) procedures and initial, intermediate and missed approach legs of those GBAS CAT I approaches which require the use of the GNSS sensor, will be based on real-time information of GPS signal availability, independently of pre-flight GNSS predictions. Conversely, any other information concerning the unavailability of GBAS equipment or GNSS manoeuvres received during the flight, shall need to be taken into account for operations upon its reception. 8 AIC 7/13
