Si lo hacía en forma exitosa, sería aceptado como profesor del departamento. El resultado fue favorable, y desde ese tiempo, me convertí en profesor de fisiología en forma ininterrumpida hasta el momento actual, salvo el tiempo de mi entrenamiento en Harvard y UCLA. Como profesor comprometido con la enseñanza y experiencia adquirida en todos estos años, hemos preparado una obra útil para el aprendizaje del estudiante de medicina en el área de fisiología cardiovascular, renal y respiratoria. Se trata de un libro completo y accesible, donde se concentran aspectos que previamente debían ser consultados en diversas bibliografías. Aborda en forma fácil, amena y actualizada los conocimientos básicos de estas tres áreas de la fisiología, convirtiéndose en una herramienta para el beneficio educativo de las nuevas generaciones en sus primeros años de la carrera de medicina.agradecemos, en forma especial, la importante colaboración de mi amigo el Dr. Gerardo Gamba, coautor de esta obra, quien desarrolló todos los aspectos de fisiología renal, tema en el que es un líder; así como a todos los médicos y residentes del Instituto Nacional de Cardiología Ignacio Chávez, colaboradores en la mayoría de los capítulos de esta obra.
