4 SCOPE: Second Bridge Congress CHILE 2017 The Chilean Association of Roads and Transport (ACCT Chile & Chile PIARC National Committee), in conjunction with the National Roads Administration of Chile agreed to hold the Second International Congress Bridges - Chile 2014 ( CIPCh), Future Challenges : Design, Construction and Maintenance, on October 18-20, 2017, in the city of Santiago, as part of the international activities of the " ACCT COMMITTEE OF BRIDGES AND STRUCTURES OF CHILE". This initiative seeks to generate a technical meeting at the national and international level, with specialists, professionals, academics and students of the bridge engineering in its various areas(design, construction and maintenance). In addition to generating the space for discussion on issues of research, innovation, as well as Chilean and international projects. This exchange can promote the development of bridge engineering in Chile, stimulating best professional practices, and fostering research and innovation and facilitate the exchange of knowledge and technology. The First version of this Congress considered the participation of 23 countries, more than 13 sponsors companies and about 350 attendees from Europe, Africa, America and Asia. In this version, it is considered three days of technical meetings that will be complemented with a technical visit to Chilean bridges and a social program to the Chilean Patagonia.

Walter Brüning Maldonado National Roads Director Dear Colleagues, I am pleased to invite you to participate in the second version of the International Conference on Bridges, organized by Chilean Road Administration, World Roads Association (PIARC) and the Technical Committee on Bridges of the Chilean Roads and Transportation Association (ACCT). Este evento será un importante punto de encuentro internacional entre profesionales, académicos, investigadores y estudiantes relacionados con la ingeniería de puentes. Será además un estimulante espacio de discusión e intercambio de experiencias. La especialidad de puentes tiene gran importancia en nuestro país, tanto por la relevancia de las obras que se están desarrollando como por la complejidad misma que este tipo de estructuras conllevan. La Primera Conferencia realizada en 2014 fue un éxito. Participaron más de 300 profesionales nacionales y extranjeros, y se recibieron más de 100 trabajos. Los invito a ser parte de este evento internacional que se realizará por segunda vez y el cual pretende proyectarse de manera permanente. This event will be an important international gathering point for professionals, academics, researchers and students related to bridge engineering. It will also be a stimulating instance for discussion and exchange of experiences and good practices. The specialty of bridges is main concern in our country, due to the relevant works are being developed as well as the complexity itself that this type of structures involved. The First Conference in 2014 was a success. More than 300 national and foreign professionals participated, and more than 100 papers were received. I invite you to be part of this international event to be held for the second time, which aims to be permanent.

7 WG Meeting T.D. 3 Bridges PIARC will a sponsor for the Second Bridge Congress Chile As a consequence, a WG meetings TC D3 will be held in Santiago of Chile, with the special participation of the Central and South American Members (17 October 2017). The TC D3 members are kindly invited to join to this event and exchange the progress of the WGs with members of this area. Call for Abstract Furthermore, during the Congress, a Special Session will be organized, in order to show the progress of WG TC.D3 Bridges All members of Technical Group are kindly invited to contribute with the Congress and submit your abstract until 15th February Please send the abstract to chile_bridges_congress_2017@acct.cl with the Subject PIARC" and the name of the abstract Keynote Lecture also will be consider for the special session.
