1 CONSTRUCTION NOTICE Downtown Corridor/Segment A: Flower Street Closure Attention Residents and Business Owners EXPO LINE The will be working along Flower Street, between 30th Street and 33rd Street, installing pavement as a part of the construction of the Exposition Light Rail Transit Project. The work is being managed and performed by the design-build contractor FCI/Fluor/Parsons (FFP, a Joint Venture) and its subcontractors. What: When: Where: Temporary Street Closures Monday, September 8, 2008 (9:00 p.m.) through Friday, September 19, 2008 (5:00 p.m.) Flower Street between 30th Street and 33rd Street Traffic Impacts: 30th, 31st, and 33rd Streets will be closed to through traffic at the intersection of Flower Street for the duration of this construction activity. Directional signage, electronic message boards and flagmen will be used to safely direct drivers around the construction zones in order to minimize the disruption to traffic. Advisories: Parking restrictions in all construction areas will be strictly enforced at all times. Please do not enter the construction work zone and obey all posted construction signs. 3 Expo Light Rail Line CONSTRUCTION NOTICE K-Rail Installation: 7th Avenue to La Brea Avenue K-Rail Installation During the construction of the Expo Light Rail Line it is important to secure the right-of-way (ROW) along Exposition Boulevard for safety reasons. Securing the ROW by installing K-Rail allows the contractor to prepare the ROW for utility relocation and light rail construction. K-Rail are concrete barriers used to separate construction activities from the public. Each K-Rail weighs 8,000 pounds and is 20 feet in length. When will the K-Rail installation begin? Where will the K-Rail be installed? Installation of the K-Rail will begin on September 22, 2008 and will take approximately 3 weeks to complete. K-Rail will be installed along Exposition ROW, from 7th Avenue to La Brea Avenue. What are the construction hours? Monday - Friday, 7:00 a.m. - 9:00 p.m. If construction needs to take place overnight or during a weekend, the community will be notified in a timely manner. Will there be parking restrictions? The work is being managed and performed rmed by the design-build contractor FFP and its subcontractors. When: Where: What: September December 2009, Monday through Friday City of Los Angeles, 7:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. City of Culver City, 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. (intermittent weekends as required) Construction crews will be working within the Exposition right-of-way behind the concrete barriers (K-Rail), from La Brea Avenue to Washington Boulevard The following construction activities are anticipated:» Soil removal (non-hazardous and non-contaminated)» Utility relocation and installation» Overhead Catenary System (OCS) foundation, pole, and cable installation» Sound wall construction» Station construction» Installation of track foundation» Track and concrete tie installation» Curb and gutter installation» Bridge Construction» Mechanically Stabilized Earth (MSE) retaining wall construction (Construction schedules are subject to change for various reasons including but not limited to: weather conditions, unforeseen emergencies and other acts of nature) Traffic Impacts: There will l be no long-term vehicular traffic impacts as a result of these construction activities. However, trucks used to haul away debris will occasionally interrupt traffic as they enter and exit the right-of-way. Flagmen will be used to safely direct vehicular traffic and pedestrians away from the construction areas. Parking restrictions in all construction areas will be strictly enforced at all times.
