1 Alum Rock/Santa Clara Bus Rapid Transit Project Construction Update May 2, 2016 The following will be in effect, weather and conditions permitting, and weekend work will be scheduled as necessary. Alum Rock Avenue between U.S. 101-I680 Crews are continuing the installation of traffic signals and street lights, sidewalk and accessible ramps on eastbound Alum Rock Avenue. Over the next few weeks they will complete installation of conduit across Alum Rock Avenue at the following intersections: 33 rd and 34 th Street, and Jackson Avenue. Each location could take 5-10 days, depending on weather and underground conditions. For all activities on Alum Rock Avenue, anticipate intermittent temporary lane closures between 9:00 a.m 3:00 p.m., and left turn closures as needed Additional activities to note in addition to above: to expect Bus Stop Impacts to Expect Road widening on the south side/eastbound of Alum Rock between Scharff Avenue and I680 Activities began mid-january, and are anticipated to be completed by end May, depending on weather and road conditions South side/eastbound Alum Rock Avenue, between Scharff Avenue and I680 Pedestrian and vehicle access to businesses will be maintained. Activities will generate noticeable noise, vibration, and traffic impacts, including and not limited to: Temporary restriping of road to create the work zone Saw cutting and grinding of asphalt Heavy equipment used for demolition and concrete removal Trenching and excavation Equipment back up alarms (beeping) Compaction & Paving Dust Pedestrian/Traffic Detours Temporary bus stop relocations as necessary Eastbound traffic between Scharff Avenue and I680 along Alum Rock Avenue has shifted north on Alum Rock Avenue allowing 2 lanes of traffic in each direction. Remove and rebuild accessible ramps On going South side (eastbound) corners of Alum Rock Avenue at Sunset Avenue, Jose Figueres, King Road, and north east (westbound) corner of Alum Rock at Jackson Pedestrian and vehicle access to businesses will be maintained. Activities will generate noticeable noise, vibration, and traffic impacts, including and not limited to: Saw cutting and grinding of asphalt/concrete Heavy equipment used for demolition and concrete removal Trenching and excavation Equipment back up alarms (beeping) Compaction & Paving Dust 1

For your safety, please use any posted detours. to expect Construction of Downtown BRT Stations, Santa Clara Street between 1 st and 2 nd Streets Construction will start in the sidewalk area on the north side (westbound) of the street, working near 1 st Street and progressing east towards 2 nd Street. A project update will be provided every 2 weeks, or more often, as needed to advise of upcoming work Downtown and at the City Hall Station Beginning week of 4/25/16 for up to 3 months Day shift: 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Monday Friday Night shift: 7:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m. Sunday Thursday (see to Expect Below) North side (westbound) Santa Clara Street between 1 st and 2 nd Streets South side (eastbound) Santa Clara Street between 1 st and 2 nd Activities will include: Drilling for utilities Sawcutting of sidewalk Demolition of sidewalk (overnight activity) Installation of electrical equipment New sidewalk installation High noise activities will be restricted during weekday lunch hour from 11:59 a.m. 1:00 p.m. Impacts Noise and vibration from construction equipment Permanent removal of parking and loading zones on Santa Clara Street between 1 st and 2 nd Streets Temporary, intermittent lane closures or traffic shifts between 1 st and 2 nd Streets Metered parking on the north side of Santa Clara from 1 st Street, west, to the motorcycle parking in front of CHASE Bank will be removed during this time to accommodate temporary bus stop relocation Pedestrian access will be maintained at all times. For your safety, please use any posted detours. Loading zone located on the south side of Santa Clara at 1 st Street will be moved west to the corner of Lightston. (mid-may) Metered parking on the south side of Santa Clara between 1 st and Lightston will be temporarily removed during construction.
