Flanagan Liaison for CCCR Father Bob Hogan, BBD Associate Liaison LIVING PENTECOST: PRAYERFUL, EMPOWERED, GUIDED NIGHT OF RENEWAL TO CELEBRATE PENTECOST On the cover you see the information about the Charismatic Renewal Center s celebration of Pentecost on the Saturday after Pentecost, May 21, 2016, at St. Mark Church. This is a special time of united prayer for the Charismatic Renewal in San Antonio, especially as we approach the Jubilee Year for Charismatic Renewal in I want to encourage all our prayer groups to actively promote this night of Renewal as a time for all of Charismatic Renewal to come together in united prayer and fellowship. Please remind people regularly and invite people to drive to St. Mark s with you. Our unity and prayer opens us to the special graces that God wants to pour out for the coming year. I will be sharing with you areas for the Center that we can pray for together as we finish 2016 and begin RAISING OF RENT FOR THE CHARISMATIC CENTER We have included in this newsletter an envelope for a donation. Starting this month St. Henry s Church has raised our rental fee from $ to $1, a month. The summer is the time that we do not bring in as much money. I ask you to make a generous donation. We do need all the prayer groups to regularly send us a donation from your group to support all the efforts of the Center. You can take a collection weekly, or at least monthly, or do a fund raising effort for us. We need about $65, a year to run the Center. Only with the support of all the prayer groups can we accomplish the things that God is calling us to do in our Archdiocese, especially with the special things we will be doing for the Jubilee Year. Please be generous! BILINGUAL PRAYER MINISTRY TRAINING We have been advertising since the March conference, and again in this issue, this important training (English and Spanish) which starts on Friday, May 13 (at 7:00 pm) and continues on Saturday, May 14 (9:30 am to 4:00 pm) at St. Mary Magdalen Jubilee Hall. This training is very important for a number of reasons: 1. So I can have a list for the Archdiocese of San Antonio of all those who have received the same training under Fr. Bob as the Director of the Center. 2. So we can come together in unity to pray for even greater graces of the Holy Spirit to be manifested through our prayer ministry. Jesus teaches us that there is power in united prayer. We need to pray for this together no matter how long you have been involved in this ministry, especially as we prepare for the Jubilee Year. Only people who come to this training, or contact Fr. Bob ( or fr.hogan@cccrsa.net) about why they cannot attend, will be allowed to do prayer ministry at CCCR events. Please make sure your prayer group members are reminded of this. May 2016-Page 2

3 CELEBRATING PENTECOST by Karen Adams, English co-chair Brothers and Sisters, As Charismatic Catholics, we have a special appreciation for the feast of Pentecost. On that glorious day God poured out His Spirit upon the disciples in the upper room. Filled with the fire and power of the Holy Spirit these disciples gave birth to the Church and transformed the world. In 1967 God again poured out His Spirit on a small group of college students and the Charismatic Renewal was born--spreading like wildfire across the world. As a result, you and I have been given the invaluable gift of a personal Pentecost. Take a moment right now to thank God again for this precious gift. Because we have been filled with the fire and power of the Holy Spirit we also have the responsibility to transform the world around us. There are many ways the Spirit will inspire you to do so, but everything begins with prayer. So let me invite you to pray a novena to the Holy Spirit during the nine days before Pentecost for the rekindling of the grace of the first Pentecost and that all Catholics would discover the life and the gifts of the Holy Spirit. One suggested novena is from the Burning Bush Initiative: May the fire of God s love burn afresh in your hearts! Bendiciones a todos: Comite Hispano, Monica Reed Queridos hermanos en Cristo, hoy les quiero hablar de pentecostes. Esa fiesta maravillosa que nos regalo la Iglesia. Ese dia en el cual Jesus con su muerte y resureccion nos regalo la permanencia del Espiritu Santo. Hoy me lleno de gozo al hablarles del regalo mas grande que Dios nos dio, regresar al Padre. Yo los invito en este tiempo que nos queda para preparanos para Pentecostes a reflexionar en las gracias tan grandes que Dios nos dio ese dia tan maravilloso. Si hermanos se nos olvida y damos por hecho que el Espiritu Santo no permanecia en nosotros, no habia confesion. Hay yo me pongo mal nada mas de saber que antes de su muerte y resurrección no podía ir a confesarme, cargar con tanto pecado yo solita no podría. Como lo hacían? Bueno pues hoy escojo ser feliz, confesarme, comulgar y vivir los regalos que me dio mi Jesus amado en ese maravilloso día. Y también quiero invitarlos este Sábado 7 de Mayo a la NOCHE DE RENOVACION en el Centro Carismatico, Es de 7:00 pm a 9:00 pm. Te invito a gozarte en la presencia de Dios te esperamos! Dios los Bendiga Ven, Espíritu divino, manda tu luz desde el cielo. Padre amoroso del pobre; don, en tus dones espléndido; luz que penetra las almas; fuente del mayor consuelo. Ven, dulce huésped del alma, descanso de nuestro esfuerzo tregua en el duro trabajo, brisa en las horas de fuego, gozo que enjuga las lágrimas y reconforta en los duelos. Entra hasta el fondo del alma, divina luz, y enriquécenos. Mira el vacío del hombre si tu le faltas por dentro; mira el poder del pecado cuando no envías tu aliento. Riega la tierra en sequía, sana el corazón enfermo, lava las manchas, infunde calor de vida en el hielo, doma el espíritu indómito, guía al que tuerce el sendero. Reparte tus siete dones según la fe de tus siervos. Por tu bondad y tu gracia dale al esfuerzo su mérito; salva al que busca salvarse y danos tu gozo eterno. Amén. May 2016-Page 3

4 EMPOWERED BY THE HOLY SPIRIT SEMINAR Saturday, May 7, 2016 at St. Mary Magdalen Church, Jubilee Hall 9:30 am to 5:00 pm: Bring a bag lunch. Sponsored by the St. Mary Magdalen Church and the English Prayer Group (Community of My Beloved) along with Fr. Bob Hogan, BBD, Director of the Catholic Center for Charismatic Renewal, who will lead us in the Seminar. This seminar builds on the Life in the Spirit Seminar, but people can attend who have not yet gone through a Life in the Spirit Seminar. We encourage anyone involved in a Church Ministry to attend to learn more about being led and empowered by the Holy Spirit. Teaching Sessions: The Holy Spirit in the Scriptures Transformation by the Holy Spirit Spiritual Gifts for Ministry, Part 1 Spiritual Gifts for Ministry, Part 2 Prayer for the Empowerment of the Holy Spirit This will be a practical seminar where people will practice ways of: 1) Applying knowledge about the Holy Spirit to empower their lives. 2) Being set free from fear and unhealthy, compulsive behaviors in one s life. 3) Receiving spiritual gifts to minister Jesus presence to others. 4) Using of spiritual gifts in their daily lives. 5) Praying for all the graces of the Holy Spirit to empower one s life. 5 CCCR Prayer Ministry Training (bilingual) Entrenamiento para el Ministerio de Oraciόn ALL ENGLISH AND SPANISH PRAYER GROUPS/ PARA TODOS LOS GRUPOS All individuals who are involved with prayer ministry (praying for healing, for commitment to Jesus, for the Holy Spirit, etc.) through the Catholic Center for Charismatic Renewal (CCCR) or any of the prayer groups that are associated with CCCR must attend this training session in order to continue in this ministry. Todas las personas que estάn involucradas con el ministerio de oraciόn en el CCCR o cualquier otro grupo de oraciόn asociado con el CCCR, deberά atender esta sesiόn de entrenamiento para poder continuar en este ministerio. It is important that we can demonstrate to the Archdiocese of San Antonio that all the people from our groups who are involved in prayer ministry have received the same training. If you are involved with prayer ministry, but for some reason cannot attend this training, you must inform Fr.
