1 Lesson 35: Gerund 2 Lección 35: Gerundio 2 Reading (Lectura) His job is driving a bus. ( Su trabajo es conducir un autobús. ) Thank you for choosing my lesson. ( Gracias por elegir mi lección. ) Her secret is singing alone in her room. ( Su secreto es cantar en su habitación. ) I m thinking about living in Thailand. ( Estoy pensando en vivir en Tailandia. ) My dream is working abroad. ( Mi sueño es trabajar en el extranjero.) How about trying a new module? ( Qué tal intentar un nuevo módulo?) 1
2 What I really like is traveling to other countries. ( Lo que realmente me gusta es viajar a otros países.) I look forward to seeing you soon. ( Espero verte pronto. ) The dog is not eating. ( El perro no está comiendo. ) I m interested in traveling abroad. ( Estoy interesado/a en viajar al extranjero.) My favorite activity is hiking. ( Mi actividad favorita es el senderismo.) I will call you after arriving at the office. ( Te llamaré después de llegar a la oficina.) 2
3 Grammar focus (Grammar focus) Gerundios son las formas de los verbos que actúan como nombres. Gerundios siempre terminan con "... ing", como la forma del presente progresivo del verbo. E.g.)Walking is good for your health. (Caminar es bueno para tu salud.) Gerundios tienen cuatro usos. El primero es como sujeto, el segundo como objeto, el tercero como complemento y el cuarto es como objeto de preposiciones. Tu aprenderás el tercero y el cuarto en esta lección. 1 My favorite activity is hiking. (Mi actividad favorita es el senderismo.) Se utiliza como un complemento 2 I asked him about working in the office. (Le pregunté sobre el trabajo en la oficina.) Se utiliza como una parte de la preposición. 3
4 Speaking (Hablar) 1) My worst fear is drowning. ( Mi mayor temor es el ahogo.) 2) What I hate most is repeating myself. (Lo que más odio es repetir lo mismo. ) 3) She came back home without buying anything in the mall. (Ella regresó a casa sin comprar nada en el centro comercial.) 4) What we really like is travelling to other countries. (Lo que nos gusta realmente es viajar a otros países.) 5) What I love most is driving my car. (Lo que más me gusta es conducir mi coche. ) 6) I m looking forward to meeting you. (Tengo muchas ganas de conocerte.) 7) Have you succeeded in finding a good job? ( Has tenido éxito en encontrar un buen trabajo?) 8) Gina succeeded in finding a job. 6 Translating (Traducir) Traduce estas oraciones en inglés. 1) Mi sueño es comprarle una casa a mis padres. 2) Estoy deseando trabajar contigo en esta empresa. (vocabulario útil: deseando que llegue algo o hacer algo = looking forward to (doing/something)) 3) Él salió afuera antes de terminar sus tareas. 4) Gracias por darle un buen consejo en la reunión. (vocabulario útil: consejo = advice) 5) Realmente tu hooby es cocinar? No lo puedo creer! 6) Su talento no es bailar. (vocabulario útil: talento = talent) 7) Qué te parece si comemos algo de comida local? (vocabulario útil: regional, local = local) 8) Estoy interesado/a en leer revistas de ciencia.
