1 Lesson 41: may, might, might not Lección 41: puedo, podría/es posible, no podría/no es posible Reading (Lectura) You may have a seat. (Podéis sentaros. ) May I borrow your book? ( Puedo coger prestado tu libro?) The taxi fee may be expensive in this country. ( La tarifa del taxi puede ser cara en este país.) May I visit my friend? Yes, you may. ( Puedo visitar a mi amigo? Sí, puedes ) It may not rain this afternoon. ( Puede no llover esta tarde. ) The weather may not recover soon. ( Puede que el tiempo no mejore pronto. ) 1
2 I might attend the seminar. ( Podría asistir al seminario/ Es posible que asista al seminario. ) He might be a policeman. ( Él podría ser policía/ Es posible que sea policía. ) It might rain this afternoon. ( Podría llover esta tarde/ Es posible que llueva esta tarde. ) The machine might not work in this condition. ( La máquina podría no funcionar en estas condiciones/ Es posible que la máquina no funcione en estas condiciones. ) He might not be in Japan any more. 3 Grammar focus (Enfoque Gramatical) Los verbos auxiliares van antes que los verbos principales en estas frases y le dan un sentido adicional a los verbos. El verbo auxiliar may (puedo) se utiliza para describir una posibilidad o para pedir permiso. Añade not después de may para hacer frases en negativo. E.g.)It may rain tomorrow. (Puede llover mañana) It may not rain tomorrow. (Puede no llover mañana) May I sit down? ( Puedo sentarme?) You may go home soon. (Puedes ir a casa pronto) You may not go home soon. (No puedes ir a casa pronto) El verbo auxiliar might (podría) se usa para describir una posibilidad pequeña. Añade not después de might para crear frases negativas. E.g.)I might attend the meeting. (Podría asistir a la reunión/es posible que asista a la reunión) I might not attend the meeting. (Podría no asistir a la reunión/ Es posible que no asista a la reunión) It might rain tomorrow. (Podría llover mañana/ Es posible que llueva mañana) It might not rain tomorrow. (Podría no llover mañana / Es posible que no llueva mañana) 3

(vocabulario útil: grabación = recording) 4) Los estudiantes podrían no aprobar el exámen si no estudian lo suficiente.
