1 Lesson 42: have to, don t have to Lección 42: tener que, no tener que Reading (Lectura) We have to go to school tomorrow. ( Tenemos que ir a la escuela mañana ) I have to get up at 5 am tomorrow. ( Me tengo que levantar a las 5 am mañana ) I have to clean my room. ( Tengo que limpiar mi cuarto ) His son has to be there before 8 o clock. ( Su hijo tiene que estar ahí antes 8:00 ) She has to be home by ten. ( Ella tiene que estar en casa a las diez ) I don t have to leave at 4 am. ( No tengo que salir a las 4 am ) 1
2 You don t have to say sorry. ( No tienes que decir lo siento.) They don t have to go with me. ( Ellos no tienen que ir conmigo ) He doesn t have to work on weekends. ( Él no tiene que trabajar los fines de semana ) My boss doesn t have to attend the seminar tomorrow. ( Mi jefe no tiene que participar en el seminario de mañana ) Grammar focus (Enfoque gramatical) Have to es usado para describer una obligación, igual que must. E.g.)I have to go to school tomorrow. (Tengo que ir a la escuela mañana) You have to go home soon. (Tienes que ir a casa pronto) La oración negative con have to es formada al poner do not o does not antes de have to. El significado es diferente de la forma negativa de must. - Usamos 'mustn't' para expressar obligaciones fuertes y no para hacer algo. - Usaos 'don't have to' para decir que no hay obligación o necesiadad. E.g.)I don t have to go to school tomorrow. (Yo no tengo que ir a la escuela mañana) You don t have to go home soon. (no tienes que ir a casa pronto) 2

(No tienes que llegar antes de las 10) 3) She doesn t have to submit her report today. (Ella no tiene que enviar su reporte hoy) 4) You have to speak English every day. (Tienes que hablar Inglés todos los días) 5) The company has to face difficult situations. (La empresa tiene que hacer frente a situaciones difíciles) 6) I have to exercise more. (Tengo que hacer más ejercicio) 7) He doesn t have to be at work before 8 am tomorrow. (Él no tiene que estar en el trabajo antes de las 8 am mañana) 8) We have to buy a cake for our teacher. (Tenemos que comprar un pastel para nuestro maestro) 9) We don t have to work on Saturday. (No tenemos que trabajar el sábado) 10) Her secretary has to answer lots of phone calls.
