2 IBERIAN AND LATIN AMERICAN FEDERATION OF METEOROLOGICAL SOCIETIES In 1986, the Centro Argentino de Meteorólogos (CAM, Argentine Meteorological Society), the Sociedad Brasileira de Meteorología (SBMET, Brazilian Meteorological Society) and the Organización Mexicana de Meteorología (OMMAC, Mexican Meteorological Society), founded the Latin American Federation of Meteorological Societies In 1992, the Sociedad Meteorológica de Cuba (SOMETCUBA, Cubean Meteorological Society) and the Asociación Meteorológica Española (AME, Spaniard Meteorological Society) joined the Federation, and after approval of its statutes the Federation becomes the Iberian and Latin American Federation of Meteorological Societies (FLISMET)

3 IBERIAN AND LATIN AMERICAN FEDERATION OF METEOROLOGICAL SOCIETIES The Asociação Portuguesa de Meteorologia e Geofísica (APMG, Porteguese Society of Meteorology and Geophysics) joined the Federation in The Uruguayan Meteorology, Environment and Development Wind Friendly Society (Amigos del Viento, Adel V) joined the Federation in Amigos del Viento currently performs the Secretaría Permanente (Permanent Secretary) of FLISMET. SOMETCUBA, the Cubean Meteorological Society, is the current Presidency of FLISMET, its president is Dr. Andrés Planas.

4 IBERIAN AND LATIN AMERICAN FEDERATION OF METEOROLOGICAL SOCIETIES Chairmanship: Every two years The highest authority of the entity in charge of the Executive Committee of the Federation shall be its President The maximum and governing body of the Federation is the General Assembly of the Council of Representatives Congress host Country Languages: Spanish and Portuguese. In FLISMET Conferences, speeches, presentation, abstracts and posters in English are equally welcome among non Flismet Memebers)

5 FLISMET S GOALS To support and foster the spirit of union among the Societies. To develop conferences, seminars, meetings and courses concerning Meteorology and Environment. To develop relationships among similar entities. To support members initiatives to contribute to scientific, technical and intellectual improvement. To advocate for Professionals in Meteorology and their activities.

6 FLISMET S GOALS To watch for teaching and training freedom in the field of Meteorology. To provide advice in the Meteorological field through its members to Governmental and International Institutions. To foster the creation of National Meteorological Societies and their membership to the Federation. To encourage environmental preservation. To look for funding to support our activities.
