All of our students did something to learn about and appreciate the many wonderful contributions Hispanic countries and their people have given to the world. Kindergarten celebrated Hispanic Heritage by decorating dolls and writing a report to go along with their Hispanic country. Their report included what their favorite foods, music, and traditions are from the Hispanic country they wrote about. Furthermore, second grade learned how to conduct safe research online using a search engine designed specifically for young students. Each student was assigned a Hispanic person, and they were to find information such as their date of birth, country of birth, and what they accomplished or contributed to the world. After their research was complete, they presented their findings to the class. As a result, they learned much about many Hispanic artists, singers, actors, dancers, athletes, journalists, comedians, scientists, and more. Also, one of our kindergarten and third grade students each recited a famous poem in Spanish during our morning prayers. Our Lady of the Lakes Catholic School is a Christ centered educational community that is committed to the fullness of the Gospel message. 4 Notes & Thoughts Vocation Cup We thank the following families for hosting the Vocation Cup this past week: The Garcia Family The Cueli Family The Vocation Blessing Cup is a wonderful instrument of prayer and devotion for our parish families. The Cup reminds each host family that it is their responsibility to pray for and foster vocations to the priesthood and religious life. A family is asked to host the Vocation Cup for one week.
