1 June 29 th, 2018 Dear Parent(s) We are very excited to share our love of Jesus Christ and our Catholic faith with your children during this upcoming Religious Education year. Archbishop Allen Vigneron, in his pastoral letter Unleash the Gospel calls the mission of families to pass on their faith to their children the first priority of parish ministry. He says: parishes must look for ways to make catechesis and sacramental preparation family-based, helping parents grow in discipleship so that they can then form their children. The blessing for parents at baptism prays that parents will be the first and the best teachers of their children in the faith. We are recommitting our parish to support parents in this critical role We are also asking you to recommit to this precious responsibility. It has long been our experience that fruitful religious education is more than attending weekly classes. It is one piece of a larger picture. Going forward, we propose that religious education at Holy Family also involve the following elements. A commitment to weekly church attendance as a family A commitment by parents to growing in their faith by participating in a small faith sharing group (If Alpha was not previously completed, it would be your small group for the fall semester) Faithful attendance of Religious Education classes by your child We are recommitting ourselves to helping you to do this by: Providing the Alpha Course during Religious Education class times Providing small faith sharing groups during Religious Education class times Providing weekend masses that are relevant and supportive for both parents and children We know life is complex and hectic. We know there are exceptions to the best intentions. We want to work together with you in a common understanding of our priorities and expectations. 2 Estimado Padre de Familia, 29 de junio del 2018 Estamos muy contentos de compartir el amor de Jesucristo y de nuestra fe en Iglesia Católica con sus niños durante este año en Educación Religiosa. El Arzobispo Allen Vigneron, es su carta pastoral Haz llegar el Evangelio, llama a todas las familias a la misión de transmitir la fe a sus niños como primera prioridad en los ministerios de la parroquia. El dice: las parroquias deben buscar maneras de ofrecer catequesis y preparación sacramental para toda la familia, ayudando a los padres de familia a crecer en discipulado para que ellos puedan formar a sus hijos. La bendición para los padres de familia cuando bautizan dice: serán los primeros y los mejores maestros de sus niños en la fe. Estamos re-comprometiendo a nuestra parroquia a apoyar a los padres de familia en este papel tan crítico. Le estamos pidiendo a usted que se comprometa nuevamente a esta hermosa responsabilidad. Ha sido nuestra experiencia que para que la educación religiosa dé frutos, es más que solo asistir a una clase semanal. Esto es solo una pieza de todo lo que implica. Debido a esto, proponemos que la educación religiosa en Holy Family incluya los siguientes elementos: Un compromiso de asistir la familia a Misa semanalmente. Un compromiso de los padres de familia a crecer en la fe, participando en un grupo pequeño para compartir la fe. (Sino ha participado en Alpha anteriormente, éste sería su grupo pequeño para el otoño). Que su hijo tenga una asistencia comprometida a sus clases de Educación Religiosa. Nosotros nos estamos comprometiendo a ayudarle haciendo lo siguiente: Proporcionando el Curso Alpha durante los horarios de Educación Religiosa. Proporcionando grupos pequeños para compartir la fe durante los horarios de Educación Religiosa. Proporcionando Misas de fin de semana que sean relevantes y apoyen tanto a los padres de familia como a los niños. Sabemos que la vida es complicada y activa. Sabemos que hay excepciones aún cuando se tenga la mejor intención. Queremos trabajar junto con ustedes, entendiendo las prioridades y las expectativas. 5 RELIGIOUS FORMATION REGISTRATION REGISTER BY AUGUST 15 TO SAVE $15! Registration for the Religious Formation sessions has begun, with a $15 discount for all who are registered by August 15. Please fill out the attached form and return it to the Religious Formation office by mail or drop it off at the office. Mail-in registrations will be taken through the summer. Fall weekday classes begin September 17, Fall Sunday classes begin September 23. Registration forms received after September 15 may not be processed for the first week of classes.
