ALEX VAUGHT PORFOLIO 2015 v
BIO Born in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada in 1962 from Mexican parents. He has lived most of his life in Mexico City. Where he attended the National School of Plastic Arts and the National School of Painting, Sculpture and Etching as an uninscribed student, 1978. Later in 1981 he worked and lived at Marysole Wörner s workshop, helping to create the sculptures from the 1981 exhibition of Sculpture Metamorphosis at the Carrillo Hill Art Museum. In 1982, he attended the Nora Beteta s workshop and in the same year arrived in Vancouver, BC, where he studied at BCIT (British Columbia Institute of Technology) Computer Engineering. At 1992, he returned to Mexico and in 1995 he founded Incognitaterra a graphic design company specialized in electronic media as multimedia and web. Since 2005 he s been working in a series of oil paintings theme: Seas, Landscapes, Coast and Clouds. This series are partial abstract suggested paintings that evoke landscapes. Also he s been working figurative inks. Nacido en Ottawa Ontario Canadá en 1962 de padres mexicanos. El ha vivido casi toda su vida en la Ciudad de México donde atendió la Escuela Nacional de Artes Plásticas y La escuela Nacional de Pintura Escultura y Grabado como oyente. Después en 1981 trabajo y vivió en el estudio de Marysole Wörner, ayudando a crear las esculturas para la ex- hibición Metamorfosis Escultórica en el Museo de Arte Carrillo Hill. En 1982 trabajo el Taller de Nora Beteta y en el mismo año dejo México para vivir en Vancouver BC Canadá donde estudio Ingeniería en computación. En 1992 regreso a la ciudad de México y en 1995 funda la compañía de diseño gráfico Incognitaterra compañía especializada en medios electrónicos como multimedia e Internet. Desde el 2005 el ha estado trabajando en una series de pinturas al oleo con los temas: Marinas, Paisajes, Lito- rales y Nubes. Esta serie envuelve una abstracción parcial con la idea de sugerir paisajes. Además el ha trabajado tintas figurativas y abstractas. 1
statement COASTs - Litorales A coast is where the land meets the sea. In this series what it s important is the movement, the way the water meets the land a brake down of the horizon. El litoral es donde el mar encuentra la tierra. I paint from the landscape of the memories. From those that we create as we close our eyes and we recall to re invent new sceneries. I play with the palette of colours and love to create textures with the materials, work and extend their values, I draw scenes from the fantastic, representations of the ambiguous and the surprising. Memories from old mythologies and re invented symbology. En esta serie lo que es importante es el movimiento, la manera en el agua se encuentra con la tierra y se rompe el horizonte. Pinto las memorias de los paisajes, estas que nos vamos creamos cuando cerramos los ojos y nos recordamos en ellas para inventarlas nuevas Juego con los colores y las texturas de la pintura al oleo reinventando sus valores para que imiten el movimiento de las fuerzas de la naturaleza. Que el brillo de esta textura juegue con la vista del quien lo observa. Dibujo escenas fantásticas, representación de lo ambiguo y lo sorprendente. Recuerdos de las mitologías leídas, las simbologías re inventadas. 2 3
