D., Executive Director of Special Education DATE: April 3, 2014 SUBJECT: ELEMENTARY AND SECONDARY EDUCATION ACT (ESEA) & IDEA B SPECIAL EDUCATION PUBLIC MEETING A public meeting has been scheduled for Tuesday, May 13, 2014 at 1:00 PM in the Katy ISD Education Support Complex Boardroom regarding the ESEA Title I, Title II, Title III and IDEA B Special Education federal programs as implemented in 2013-2014 and as proposed for 2014-2015. The staff and the public are invited to this meeting to make comment, including a written statement that must accompany all comments made. In addition, parent and teacher surveys have been created to gather input on these programs. The links to each electronic survey are listed below. Elementary and Secondary Education Act Public Meeting April 3, 2014 Page 2 Action Items- All Campuses: Ensure that your campus has at least one administrative representative, one parent representative, and one Title I staff member (if applicable) in attendance at the May 13 th meeting. Post the official notice (attached) where it is visible to all who may want to participate. Place a meeting invitation (attached) in your campus newsletter and/or enews. Forward the electronic parent and campus surveys to appropriate persons by April 11, 2014. Action Items- Title I Campuses Only: Send a printed copy of the public meeting letter (attached) to all parents by April 11, 2014. Complete the following forms and place a scanned copy in the campus Title I documentation folder on the K-drive by May 23 rd. These forms are available on the K-drive under Title I Resources, End of Year Forms. Title I Program Evaluation Title I Staff Form 2014 2015 Planned Activities Complete documentation checklists and scan all corresponding artifacts/evidence into the campus documentation folder by May 23, 2014. All original documents should be kept on campus and be available for auditing purposes. Ensure that an administrator and/or a Title I teacher attends the required Title I planning session immediately following the public meeting on May 13th.
