1 Division of Teaching and Learning Department of Curriculum and Instruction Special Education Department Department of Federal Programs and External Funding MEMORANDUM TO: FROM: All Principals Kim Lawson, Ph.D., Executive Director of Elementary Curriculum & Instruction Rhonda Ward, Executive Director of Secondary Curriculum & Instruction Brian Malechuk, Executive Director for Special Education Nakia Coy, Director of Federal Programs and External Funding DATE: March 31, 2016 SUBJECT: FEDERAL PROGRAMS PUBLIC MEETING A public meeting has been scheduled for Monday, May 2, 2016, at 1:00PM in the Katy Independent School District Educational Support Complex, Room 1200 BCG located at 6301 South Stadium Lane, Katy, Texas regarding the ESEA Title I, Title II, Title III, IDEA B Special Education, High School Accelerated Instruction and Carl D. Perkins CTE programs as implemented in the school year and as proposed for the school year. The staff and the public are invited to comment on these programs. A written statement for the record must accompany all comments made. In addition, parent and teacher surveys have been created to gather input on these programs. 2 March 31, 2016 Federal Programs Public Meeting Page 2 Action Items- All Campuses: Ensure that your campus has at least one administrative representative, one parent representative, and one Title I staff member (if applicable) in attendance at the Monday, May 2 nd meeting. Post the official notice (attached) where it is visible to all who may want to participate. Place a meeting invitation (attached) in your campus newsletter and/or enews. Forward the electronic parent and campus surveys to appropriate individuals the week of Monday, April 4 th. These surveys will close on Friday, April 22 nd. Action Items- Title I Campuses Only: Send a printed copy of the public meeting letter (attached) to all parents the week of Monday, April 4 th. Complete the following forms and place a scanned copy in the campus Title I documentation folder on the K-drive by Friday, May 20 th. These forms will be available on the K-drive by Monday, May 2 nd. Title I Program Evaluation Title I Staff Form Planned Activities Complete documentation checklists and scan all corresponding artifacts/evidence into the campus documentation folder by Friday, May 20 th. All original documents should be kept on campus and be available for auditing purposes. Ensure that an administrator and/or a Title I teacher attends the required Title I planning session immediately following the public meeting on Monday, May 2 nd. 6 April 4, 2016 Dear Parents: You are invited to attend an Elementary and Secondary Education Act (ESEA) public meeting, which is scheduled for May 2, 2016, at 1:00PM at the Katy Independent School District Educational Support Complex (ESC) Room 1200 BCG located at 6301 S. Stadium Lane, Katy, TX Information regarding Katy ISD s Title I Program will be shared. Title II, Title III, Special Education, High School Accelerated Instruction and Carl D. Perkins CTE programs will also be discussed. This meeting is held to gather public input on the current school year and on ways the program can be improved. This is your opportunity to discuss ideas that you feel will help improve the academic progress of students enrolled at Title I campuses. Your input regarding the program is important to Katy ISD.
