Page 3 www.stritaparish.org July 16, 2017 Brothers and sisters, First of all, allow me to thank both Fr. Daniel Kayajan CSC and Fr. James T. Preskenis CSC for the love, dedication and brilliant pastoral zeal with which they have served the Parish community of Saint Rita for over nine years. We can be certain of one thing, they will be greatly missed. Personally, I have known Fr. Kayajan for several years. Being bilingual is one of his many gifts. This clearly enabled him to interact and cooperate in many fruitful ways with the handful of Spanishspeaking priests that serve in our Diocese of Saint Petersburg. We thank God our Creator for sending both Fr. Daniel and Fr. James to us. We are also grateful for their leadership and well-known kindness while ministering to God s people in this ecclesial territory. May the Holy Spirit continue to guide them and protect them wherever they are sent to bring God s word and preach Christ s message of Redemption. I begin my ministry among you as Parochial Administrator and not as Pastor. This canonical figure implies that a priest is in the process of acquiring the necessary tools and pastoral skills to better fulfill his future mission as Pastor. This gives the Diocesan Bishop and his close advisors more time to evaluate the way that particular priest conducts himself as Administrator, and then determine if he can successfully execute the obligations of Shepherd of a Parish family. For that reason, I ask you to please pray for me that I may find the indispensable strength required to journey in communion with you for as long as the Lord desires, this portion of our earthly path. Preskenis el cariño, la dedicación y el brillante celo pastoral con los que han servido a esta comunidad de Sta. Rita por más de 9 años. Estamos seguros de que se les echará mucho de menos. Personalmente debo deciros que conozco al P. Kayajan por varios años. Uno de sus numerosos talentos es ser bilingüe. Esta habilidad le permitió trabajar y cooperar de manera cercana y fructífera con el pequeño grupo de sacerdotes hispanos de nuestra Diócesis de San Petersburgo. Agradecemos a Dios Padre el haber enviado al P. Daniel y al P. James a esta comunidad. Reconocemos también su eficaz liderazgo y la fidelidad con que sirvieron al pueblo de Dios en este territorio eclesiástico. Que el Espíritu Santo los guíe y proteja allí adonde vayan para anunciar la Palabra de Dios y predicar el mensaje de la Redención. Comienzo mi ministerio entre vosotros como Administrador Parroquial y no como Párroco. Este término canónico implica que el sacerdote debe aún adquirir la destreza y pericia necesarias para en un futuro fungir como Párroco. Durante esta etapa, el Obispo diocesano y sus consejeros evalúan la manera en que el presbítero se desempeña como Administrador y luego, determinan si es apto para ser nombrado Pastor de una familia parroquial. Por estas razones, os ruego recéis por mí, para encontrar la energía indispensable mientras camino este trayecto de nuestro viaje terreno junto a vosotros, hasta que Dios otra cosa acuerde.
