Parts Checklist Your package should contain the following items: Base unit Handset Handset cord Short 4-wire cord 2-wire line cord 4-wire line cord INTRODUCTION Your Panacom PA-7300 two-line speakerphone is designed to meet your business needs at home or in an office environment. Because your time is valuable, and we know you want to use your phone not read about it, this user manual presents installation and basic usage information up front, and discusses advanced features later in the book. QUICK REFERENCE GUIDE Find the button that you want information about and then go to the page listed. GETTING STARTED SHORT GLOSSARY OF TERMINOLOGY USED IN THIS MANUAL Hook switch: The part of the phone that pops up to activate the phone line when the handset is lifted from the base. On this phone, each of the line buttons acts as a hook switch. Pg. 4

5 Line indicator: The light located next to each of the line buttons; it shows you the status of each line. Off-hook. A term used to describe the phone in its active mode. For this phone, off hook would require that one of the line buttons is active. On-hook. A term used to describe the phone in an inactive mode. MODULAR JACK REQUIREMENTS A modular jack USOC: RJ11C or a RJ14C is required. Installation of this telephone in locations with 4-prong jacks or with hard-wired outlets requires additional converters (not included). The dealer from whom you purchased the system, or a telephone supply store, can advise you regarding the proper converter. PHONE NUMBER LINE 1 LINE 2 PHONE NUMBER INSTALLATION OPTIONS Although you can use your Panacom 2-line speakerphone with a single phone line, it is designed with a 2-line system in mind. The Pg. 5

6 following diagrams show two possible systems: 2 Lines on a Single Modular Jack The most common two-line phone system uses a single RJ14 modular jack which contains both phone lines. 2 Lines on Separate Modular Jacks It is possible that each line has its own RJ11 modular jack, which means that you will need a 2-line coupler in order to use both lines on this phone. Check with your local phone dealer to get a two-line coupler. BATTERY INSTALLATION The installation of the 4 AA optional batteries allows the normal performance of the functions of this phone. Without the battery: Line indicators, Call ringer detection and Conference mode does not work Memory redial function does not work. Battery Installation 1. Remove the base plate by pressing down the tabs and lifting it from the base. 2. Press down with a flat tool or coin on the tabs for the battery compartment lid and lift up. 3. Insert the batteries as shown in the diagram inside the battery compartment. 4. Snap the battery compartment lid back into place and replace the base plate. TELEPHONE INSTALLATION Your two-line phone can be placed on a level surface such as a tabletop or desk, or you can mount it on the wall. DESK OR TABLETOP INSTALLATION Plug the telephone line cord into a modular jack (RJ11 or RJ14) and into the PHONE LINE jack on the back of the unit. Plug the handset cord into the handset, and into the telephone jack on the left side of the unit. TONE/PULSE Pg. 6

7 Set the PULSE/TONE switch to TONE if you have Touch-Tone service, or to PULSE if you have Pulse (rotary) service. WALL MOUNT INSTALLATION 1. Rotate the handset hook. 2. Set the TONE/PULSE switch to TONE if you have touch-tone service or to PULSE if you have pulse (rotary) service. 3. Remove the base plate from the back by pressing down on the snap tabs located at the top and then lifting it off. 4. Plug the phone line cord into the phone jack on the back of the unit. 5. Reverse the direction of the Base Plate and replace it by putting the tabs into the slots on the top of the unit first, and then snapping the bottom tabs into place. 6. Connect the phone cord to the modular jack on the wall. 7. Slip the mounting holes over the wall plate posts and slide the unit down firmly into place. (Wall plate not included.) 8. Plug the handset cord into the handset and into the unit, and then hang up the handset. SETTINGS Adjust the volume of the Ringer for each line changing the position of the Volume Switch (HI [High], LO [Low] or OFF), until you get the setting wanted. Set the PULSE/TONE switch to TONE if you have Touch-Tone service, or to PULSE if you have Pulse (rotary) service. Pg. 7

8 TELEPHONE OPERATION You can use the telephone by speaking and listening through the handset, or by using the Speakerphone feature. LINE STATUS INDICATOR LIGHTS This two-line phone is designed for use at multiple stations, the status of the indicator lights tells you what is happening on each line. When the Indicator Light Off Red Flashing Red (Fast) Blinking Red (Slow) Is It Means Line not in use Line in use Incoming call Call on hold NOTE: Batteries must be installed for the indicator lights to work. SPEAKERPHONE LOCATION & USE GUIDELINES For best speakerphone performance, avoid the following: Areas with high background noise. (The microphone might pick up these sounds and prevent the speakerphone from going into the receiving mode when you finish talking.) Surfaces affected by vibration. Recessed areas such as in a corner, under a cupboard, or next to a cabinet, which can generate an echo effect. Note the following guidelines when you use the speakerphone: The speakerphone works similar to a two-way radio in that you can only listen or talk at one time. Stay reasonably close to the phone so that you can be clearly heard by the person to whom you are talking. The speakerphone indicator light is on when the speakerphone is in use. ANSWERING AND PLACING CALLS Because this phone has two lines, you must choose a line by pressing the corresponding line button in order to place an outgoing call or to answer an incoming call. USING THE HANDSET The only difference between using the handset with this phone and Pg. 8

9 other corded phones is that you must press a line number button after picking up the handset in order to access that line. USING THE SPEAKERPHONE To use the speakerphone feature, press a line button and then press SPEAKER Placing a Call 1. Press the line number (1 or 2). 2. Press SPEAKER. 3. Dial the phone number you want to call. 4. Press SPEAKER to hang up. Receiving a Call 1. Press the line number button next to the indicator that is flashing red to answer an incoming call. 2. Press SPEAKER to answer the call. 3. Press SPEAKER to hang up the phone. Placing a Call While Talking on Another Line To place a call without hanging up on the first caller: 1. Press the HOLD button to put the first caller on hold. 2. Press the available line number button to get a dial tone. 3. Dial the phone number you want to call. Receiving a Call While Talking on Another Line When you receive a call while you are talking on another line, you hear the phone ring. To pick up the call without finishing the first call: 1. Press the HOLD button to put the first caller on hold. 2. Press the line number button next to flashing red indicator light to answer that call. If you want to hang up on the first caller, just push the line button that is flashing red to answer that line. NOTE: You always need to put the first caller on hold before answering a second call, or you will hang up on the first caller. SWITCHING BETWEEN SPEAKER AND HANDSET You can switch between the speaker and the headset after dialing a number or at any moment during a conversation. From speaker to handset, raise the headset. From handset to speaker, press SPEAKER; then hang up the handset. Pg. 9

10 ADJUSTING HANDSET AND SPEAKER VOLUMES The volume controls for the handset and speaker are separate, so you can adjust one without affecting the other. Use the VOLUME arrows at the bottom of the keypad to adjust the handset volume while using the handset, or the speaker volume while using the speakerphone. TIP: To return to the default volume settings, press both volume arrows at the same time. USING THE FEATURES This section discusses all of the basic telephone features. REDIAL Redial the last number you called by pressing the REDIAL button after you get a dial tone. NOTE: The Redial feature holds in memory the last numbers that you pressed. If you pressed any numbers after dialing the phone number you last called (for example, when accessing a voice-menu system) those numbers are dialed. If you get a busy answer, you can press REDIAL once again without hanging up to save some time while redialing the same number. BUSY REDIAL When calling you get busy signal, press the button BUSY REDIAL and hung up the handset if you are using it. The phone will automatically call every 30 seconds (up to 10 times) while you do other tasks. While redialing, when there is no busy signal anymore, the phone will make an audible sign tol et you know the called has been achieved. Then you can pick up the handset or press SPEAKER to talk. Take note of the following guidelines to use the Busy Redial: While you dial, the phone line is in used, but during the pause between calls, the phone line is open to be used by any extension. If somebody picks up the handset in an extension or a call enters into the same line, the Busy Redial get cancelled. If you do not answer during the first 60 seconds from the first audible sign, the phone will automatically hang up the call. HOLD Use the HOLD button to interrupt a phone conversation without Pg. 10

11 hanging up; then resume the conversation on the same phone or an extension. 1. Press HOLD to place a line on hold (the line indicator flashes to show you it is on hold). 2. Press the line button to resume the conversation NOTE: While doing this in speaker mode, with the handset on the base, you must press the SPEAKER button after selecting a line CONFERENCE CALLS You can use the Conference Call feature when you have callers on both lines, and want to have a three-way conversation. To initiate a conference call: 1. Call the first party. 2. Place first party on hold. 3. Call the second party on the other line. 4. Press CONF. NOTE: While doing this in speaker mode, with the handset on the base, you must press the SPEAKERPHONE button after selecting a line. To end a conference call: To disconnect both parties Hang up To disconnect one party Press the line button of the party to whom you want to continue speaking. To put both parties on hold Press HOLD. To speak to one party individually Press HOLD; then press the line number of the party to whom you want to speak (the second party remains on hold). NOTE: While doing this in speaker mode, with the handset on the base, you must press the SPEAKER button after selecting a line MUTE The MUTE button deactivates the microphone for both the speakerphone and the handset, so that anything you say cannot be heard by the caller on the other end of the line. Press MUTE to mute the microphone the indicator light turns on. Press MUTE again to continue the phone conversation the indicator light turns off. FLASH Pg. 11

12 Press the FLASH button instead of pressing the hook switch to activate customer calling services such as call waiting or call transfer, which are provided by your local phone company. TEMPORARY TONE If you have Pulse (rotary) service, and want to access customer calling services that require Tone dialing (such as getting information from a local bank), you can use this feature. 1. Press the TONE button ( * ) after you have connected to the customer calling service to enable Tone dialing. 2. When you hang up, the phone automatically resumes Pulse dialing. TIP: Temporary Tone can also be used while storing numbers in memory by pressing TONE at the necessary point in storage sequence. MEMORY DIALING You can store up to 12 numbers with the phone off-hook. Be careful when you store numbers with the phone off-hook, because if you do not follow the correct procedures, you might actually call someone instead of storing their number in memory. Storing a Number 1. Pick up handset or press SPEAKER. 2. Press the STORE button. 3. Dial the number to be stored. 4. Press the STORE button again. 5. Press a number button to store the number and replace the handset or press SPEAKER. 6. Record whose phone number it is on the memory directory (located under the plastic cover on the front of the unit). Use memory locations A, B and C to store emergency numbers, such as the fire department, police and medical emergency TIP: If you make a mistake while entering a number into memory, replace the handset or press SPEAKER to start over again. INSERTING A PAUSE IN THE DIALING SEQUENCE Press the PAUSE button to insert a delay in the dialing sequence of a stored telephone number when a pause is needed to wait for a dial tone (for example after you dial 9 for an outside line, or to wait for a computer access tone). Each pause counts as one digit in the Pg. 12

13 dialing sequence. RELATED INFORMATION: According to the default setting, the pause holds for 3 seconds before allowing the next number to be dialed. Though, you can program the time length of the pause between 1 and 9 seconds. STORING THE LAST NUMBER DIALED Store the last number you dialed by pressing REDIAL instead of entering a number in step 2 of the procedure for memory. CHANGING A STORED NUMBER To change a stored number, you replace it with a different number using the procedure for storing a number. Just make sure that you update your written memory directory when you make changes. CLEARING A STORED NUMBER To clear a stored number, just skip step 2 of the storing procedure (in other words, do not enter a phone number). DIALING A STORED NUMBER Dial numbers from memory when using the handset or speakerphone. When you get a dial tone, press the Memory Dial and then the number of the memory location that has the number you want to call. CAUTION: If you make test calls to emergency numbers, remain on the line and explain the reason for the call to the dispatcher. Also, make these calls in off-peak hours, such as early morning or late evening. SPECIAL FEATURES This section indicates you how to personalize telephone functions. ADJUSTING THE LENGTH OF A FLASH You can manually change the 0.6 second delay built into the default setting of flash to adjust to a phone system requiring a different time. Check with your phone company for the correct time needed. The time can be adjusted between 0.1 and 0.9 second (increasing 0.1 seconds each time): 1. Press STORE. 2. Press a number key between 1 and 9 to set a flash signal length Pg. 13

14 between 0.1 and 0.9 seconds. 3. Press STORE again. 4. Press FLASH. Pause Length ADJUSTING THE LENGTH OF THE PAUSE FUNCTION This telephone allows you to change the Pause function to suit a special telephone situation. Normal Pause operation is a wait of 4 seconds before continuing a dial sequence. The length can be adjusted between 1 and 9 seconds (increasing 1 second each time): 1. Press STORE. 2. Press a number key between 1 and 9 to select a pause duration between 1 second and 9 seconds. 3. Press STORE again. 4. Press PAUSE. TIP: It might be necessary to try different option of the length Pause to obtain the specific time to get access to a particular service, therefore it could be simpler to use the Chain dial and hold for each access tone before pressing the next memory location button. Length of Busy Redial. You can change the length of each redial when using the Busy redial function between 0 and 90 seconds (increasing 10 seconds each time). 1. Press STORE. 2. Press the key of the number to select the amount of seconds (1 to 9 represents 10 to 90 seconds). 3. Press STORE and then press BUSY REDIAL button. TROUBLESHOOTING GUIDE Problem: No dial tone when you pick up handset Solution: You must press a line button to get a dial tone Problem: No dial tone when you press a line button Solution: Check hook switch. Does it pop up when handset is picked up? Make sure phone line cord is connected Problem: Can t hear other party Solution: Check handset or speaker volume Pg. 14

15 Problem: Will not dial Solution: Make sure TONE/PULSE is set to correct position Problem: Phone doesn t ring Solution: Check RINGER VOLUME Make sure ringer is turned on Could have too many phones on one line Problem: Low handset or speaker volume Solution: Check the volume settings Problem: Line indicator lights but phone doesn t ring Solution: Check if the ringer is turned off Problem: Telephone continues to ring after handset is picked up Solution: You must press the line number to answer a call Problem: Memory dialing Solution: Make sure you entered numbers correctly CARE AND MAINTENANCE To keep Your Panacom PA-7300M two-line speakerphone working and looking good, follow these few simple guidelines: Avoid putting telephone near heating appliances and devices that generate electrical noise. (i.e., motors, fluorescent lamps.) Telephone should not be exposed to direct sunlight or moisture. Avoid dropping the handset and other rough treatment to the phone. Clean telephone with a soft cloth. (Remember to first unplug the phone from the wall outlet.) Never use a strong cleaning agent or abrasive powder, as this can damage the finish. REQUISITOS DEL ENCHUFE MODULAR Se requiere un enchufe modular USOC: RJ11C o RJ14C. La instalación de este teléfono en lugares con enchufes de 4 clavijas o con contactos permanentes requiere convertidores adicionales (no incluidos). En una tienda que venda piezas para teléfonos puede asesorarle sobre el convertidor apropiado. OPCIONES DE INSTALACIÓN Aunque usted puede utilizar su teléfono de dos líneas Panacom PA con una sola línea telefónica, el teléfono está diseñado para funcionar en un sistema de dos líneas. Los diagramas siguientes muestran dos sistemas posibles: Dos líneas en un solo enchufe modular El sistema telefónico de dos líneas más común utiliza un solo enchufe modular RJ14 que contiene a las dos líneas telefónicas. 21 1. Desmonte la placa base oprimiendo hacia abajo las lengüetas y levantándola de la base. 2. Oprima hacia abajo con una herramienta plana o con una moneda las lengüetas de la cubierta del compartimento para baterías y levántela. 3. Inserte las baterías según se muestra en el diagrama dentro del compartimento para baterías. 4. Asiente en su lugar la cubierta del compartimento para baterías y monte la placa base. INSTALACIÓN DEL TELÉFONO Su teléfono de dos líneas puede colocarse en una superficie horizontal tal como una mesa o un escritorio, o bien puede montarse en la pared. INSTALACIÓN EN UN ESCRITORIO O EN UNA MESA Enchufe el cable de la línea telefónica a un enchufe modular (RJ11 ó RJ14) y al enchufe PHONE LINE en la parte posterior de la unidad. Enchufe el cable del auricular al auricular y al enchufe de teléfono en el lado izquierdo de la unidad. TONO/PULSO Coloque el interruptor PULSE/TONE en la posición TONE (TONO) si usted tiene servicio de teléfono de botones o en la posición PULSE (PULSO) si usted tiene servicio de pulsos (disco de marcar giratorio). Conecte el cable del teléfono al enchufe modular en la pared. 7. Coloque los orificios de montaje sobre los postes en la placa de pared y deslice firmemente la unidad hacia abajo hasta que se detenga. (No se incluye la placa de pared.) 8. Enchufe el cable del auricular al auricular y a la unidad y después cuelgue el auricular. CONFIGURACIÓN Ajuste el volumen del timbre de llamada para cada línea cambiando la posición de los interruptores Volumen de timbre de llamada (HI [ALTO], LO [BAJO] u OFF [APAGADO]), hasta que consiga la configuración deseada. (El micrófono podría captar estos sonidos y prevenir que el altavoz teléfono funcione en el modo de recepción cuando usted deja de hablar.) Superficies afectadas por vibración. Áreas empotradas tales como el interior de una esquina, debajo de una alacena o junto a un gabinete, las cuales pueden generar eco. Observe las pautas siguientes cuando utilice el altavoz teléfono: El altavoz teléfono funciona de manera similar a un radio de dos vías, ya que usted puede únicamente escuchar o hablar en un momento dado. Permanezca razonablemente cerca del teléfono de manera que la persona con la que está hablando pueda escucharlo claramente. El indicador luminoso del altavoz teléfono está encendida cuando el altavoz teléfono se está utilizando. ESTABLECIMIENTO Y RECEPCIÓN DE LLAMADAS Debido a que este teléfono tiene dos líneas, usted debe elegir una línea oprimiendo el botón correspondiente a la línea para hacer una llamada o contestar una llamada recibida. UTILIZACIÓN DEL AURICULAR La única diferencia entre la utilización del auricular con este teléfono y con otros teléfonos fijos es que usted debe oprimir un botón de número de línea después de descolgar el auricular para tener acceso a esa línea. Realización de una llamada mientras habla por otra línea Para hacer una llamada sin colgar el teléfono para la primera persona que llamó: 1. Oprima el botón HOLD (ESPERA) para hacer que espere la primera persona que llamó: 2. Oprima el botón de número de línea disponible para obtener un tono para marcar. 3. Marque el número de teléfono al que desea llamar. Recepción de una llamada mientras habla en otra línea Cuando usted recibe una llamada mientras está hablando en otra línea, usted escucha que el teléfono suena. 1. Oprima el botón HOLD para hacer que espere la primera persona que llamó: 2. Oprima el botón de número de línea a un lado del indicador que está parpadeando de color rojo para contestar esa llamada. Si desea colgar el teléfono para la primera persona que llamó, simplemente oprima el botón de línea a un lado del indicador que está parpadeando de color rojo para contestar la llamada en esa línea. NOTA: Siempre tendrá que colocar al primer interlocutor en espera antes de poder contestar una segunda llamada; de otra manera le colgará al primero. ALTERNADO ENTRE EL ALTAVOZ Y EL AURICULAR Usted puede alternar entre el altavoz y el auricular luego de marcar un número o en cualquier momento durante una conversación. De altavoz a auricular Levante el auricular. De Tubo a altavoz-oprima SPEAKER; y cuelgue el auricular AJUSTE DEL VOLUMEN DEL AURICULAR Y DEL ALTAVOZ Los controles de volumen para el auricular y el altavoz son indepen- Pg. 24

25 dientes, de manera que usted puede ajustar uno sin afectar al otro. Utilice las flechas de Volumen en la parte inferior del panel de botones para ajustar el volumen del auricular cuando utilice el auricular o para ajustar el volumen del altavoz cuando utilice el altavoz teléfono. CONSEJO: Para regresar a la configuración inicial de volumen, oprima ambas flechas de volumen simultáneamente UTILIZACIÓN DE LAS FUNCIONES En esta sección se describen todas las funciones básicas del teléfono. REDISCADO (REDIAL) Marque nuevamente el último número que marcó oprimiendo el botón REDIAL cuando obtenga un tono para marcar. NOTA: La función REDIAL conserva en memoria los últimos dígitos que usted oprimió. Si usted oprimió números después de marcar el número de teléfono que llamó por última vez (por ejemplo, al realizar un acceso a un sistema de menú de voz) se marcan esos números. Si le da ocupado, puede oprimir REDIAL nuevamente sin colgar para ahorrar algo de tiempo al marcar nuevamente el número. (Ver la sección siguiente en cuanto a la función Repetición de llamada por Ocupada para aprender cómo hacer que el teléfono marque por usted). REPETICIÓN DE LLAMADA POR OCUPADA (BUSY REDIAL) Cuando llama y le da una señal de ocupado, oprima el botón BUSY RE- DIAL (REPETICIÓN DE LLAMADA POR OCUPADA) y cuelgue el auricular si lo está usando. El teléfono marcará nuevamente en forma automática cada 30 segundos (hasta 10 veces) mientras usted hace otra cosa. Cuando marca nuevamente, y no le da una señal de ocupado, el teléfono da una señal audible para hacerle saber que su llamada fue conectada. Entonces puede o levantar el auricular ú oprimir SPEAKER para hablar. Tome nota de las siguientes guías al utilizar el Repetición de llamada por Ocupada: Mientras está marcando el número, la línea telefónica está en uso; pero durante la pausa entre llamadas, la línea queda abierta para ser utilizada por cualquier extensión. Si alguien levanta el auricular en una extensión o una llamada entra en la misma línea, el Repetición de llamada por Ocupada es automáticamente cancelado. Si usted no atiende dentro de los 60 segundos desde que escucha la primer señal audible (indicándole que su llamada fue conectada) el Pg. 25

26 teléfono automáticamente cuelga la llamada. ESPERA (HOLD) Utilice el botón HOLD (ESPERA) para interrumpir una conversación telefónica sin colgar. Después, continúe la conversación en el mismo teléfono o en una extensión. 1. Oprima HOLD para hacer esperar la línea (el indicador de línea parpadea para mostrarle que está en espera). 2. Oprima el botón de línea para continuar la conversación. NOTA: Cuando se hace esto en el modo de parlante, con el auricular en la horquilla, usted debe oprimir el botón SPEAKER luego de seleccionar una línea. LLAMADAS DE CONFERENCIAS Usted puede utilizar la función Llamada en conferencia cuando tiene gente llamando en ambas líneas y desea tener una conversación tripartita. Para iniciar una llamada en conferencia: 1. Llame a la primer parte. 2. Colóquela en espera. 3. Llame a la segunda parte en la otra línea. 4. Oprima CONF. NOTA: Cuando se hace esto en el modo de Parlante, con el auricular en la horquilla, usted debe oprimir el botón SPEAKERPHONE luego de seleccionar una línea. Para terminar una llamada en conferencia: Para desconectar a ambas partes Cuelgue. Para desconectar a una parte Oprima el botón de la parte con la cual desea seguir hablando. Para poner a ambas partes en espera Oprima ESPERA. Para hablar con una parte individualmente Oprima ESPERA; oprima entonces el número de línea de la parte con la cual desea hablar (la segunda parte permanece en espera). NOTA: Cuando se hace esto en el modo de Parlante, con el auricular en la horquilla, usted debe oprimir el botón SPEAKER luego de seleccionar una línea. SILENCIO (MUTE) El botón MUTE (MUDO) desactiva el micrófono tanto para el altavoz teléfono como para el auricular, de manera que lo que usted diga no Pg. 26

27 puede ser escuchado por la persona en el otro extremo de la línea. Oprima MUTE para desactivar el micrófono: el indicador luminoso se enciende. Oprima MUTE nuevamente para continuar la conversación telefónica: el indicador luminoso se apaga. FLASH Oprima el botón FLASH (MARCA RÁPIDA) en ves de oprimir el interruptor de colgar para activar servicios de llamadas de clientes tales como espera de llamada o transferencia de llamada, los cuales son proporcionados por su compañía telefónica local. TONO TEMPORARIO (TEMPORARY TONE) Si usted tiene un servicio de Pulso (rotativo) y desea tener acceso a los servicios de llamada de cliente que requieren marcado de Tono (tal como obtener información de un banco local) usted puede usar esta función. 1. Oprima el botón TONE (TONO) (*) luego de haberse conectado con el servicio de cliente para habilitar el marcado en Tono. 2. Cuando usted cuelga, el teléfono vuelve automáticamente a marcado en Pulsos. CLAVE: La funcióntono Temporario puede ser utilizada también mientras se almacenan números en memoria oprimiendo TONE en el momento necesario durante la secuencia de almacenado. MARCADO DE MEMORIA Usted puede almacenar hasta 12 números con el teléfono descolgado. Tenga cuidado cuando almacene números con el teléfono descolgado ya que, si no sigue los procedimientos correctamente, es posible que usted llame realmente a alguna persona en vez de almacenar su número en la memoria. ALMACENAMIENTO DE UN NÚMERO 1. Descuelgue el auricular u oprima SPEAKER (ALTAVOZ). 2. Oprima el botón STORE (ALMACENAR). 3. Marque el número que debe almacenarse. 4. Oprima el botón STORE nuevamente. 5. Oprima el botón de un número para almacenar el número y cuelgue el auricular Pg. 27

28 u oprima SPEAKER. 6. Anote el nombre de la persona a la que pertenece el número en el directorio de la memoria (localizado debajo de la cubierta de plástico en la parte anterior de la unidad). Le sugerimos que utilice las localidades de memoria A, B y C para almacenar números de emergencia, tales como el departamento de bomberos, el de policía y el de emergencia médica. CONSEJO: Si comete un error al introducir un número en la memoria, cuelgue el auricular u oprima SPEAKER para comenzar nuevamente. INSERCIÓN DE UNA PAUSA EN LA SECUENCIA DE MARCADO Oprima el botón PAUSE para insertar un retraso en la secuencia de marca de un número de teléfono almacenado cuando se requiere una pausa para esperar por un tono para marcar (por ejemplo, después de que usted marca 9 para obtener una línea externa, o para esperar por el tono de acceso de una computadora). Cada pausa se considera como un dígito en la secuencia de marca. ALMACENAMIENTO DEL ÚLTIMO NÚMERO LLAMADO Almacene el último número que marcó oprimiendo REDIAL en vez de marcar un número en el paso 2 del procedimiento para almacenar números en la memoria. CAMBIO DE UN NÚMERO ALMACENADO Para cambiar un número almacenado, usted lo reemplaza con un número diferente utilizando el procedimiento para almacenar un número. Pero asegúrese de actualizar su directorio de la memoria cuando haga cambios. BORRADO DE UN NÚMERO ALMACENADO Para borrar un número almacenado, simplemente omita el paso 2 del procedimiento de almacenamiento (en otras palabras, no marque un número de teléfono). MARCADO DE UN NÚMERO ALMACENADO Marque números en la memoria cuando utilice el auricular o el altavoz teléfono. Cuando obtenga un tono para marcar, oprima el botón MEMORY DIAL y después el número de la localidad de memoria que contiene el número al que desea llamar. PRECAUCIÓN: Si usted hace llamadas de prueba a números de emergencia, permanezca en la línea y explique al personal de despacho la razón de la llamada. También, haga esas llamadas durante horas sin demasiada demanda, tales como temprano en la mañana o tarde en la noche. Pg. 28

29 FUNCIONES ESPECIALES Esta sección le indica a usted cómo personalizar funciones en su entorno telefónico particular. DURACIÓN DEL BOTÓN FLASH Usted puede cambiar la duración del botón FLASH para equipararla con los servicios de llamadas especializadas locales si está experimentando dificultades al usar la configuración inicial de 600 milisegundos. El tiempo puede ser ajustado entre 100 y 900 milisegundos (en incrementos de 100 milisegundos): 1. Oprima STORE. 2. Oprima un número en el teclado 1 a 9 (cada uno de ellos representa 100 ms.) 3. Oprima STORE y luego el botón FLASH. DURACIÓN DE LA PAUSA La configuración inicial del botón PAUSE es de 3 segundos. Sin embargo, usted puede necesitar cambiar la duración del botón PAUSE para equipararla con la cantidad de tiempo necesaria para completar un marcado en cadena. La demora puede ajustarse entre 1 y 9 segundos (en incrementos de 1 segundo): 1. Oprima STORE. 2. Oprima la tecla del número para escoger los segundos (1 a 9, tono automático es 0). 3. Oprima STORE y luego oprima el botón PAUSE. CLAVE: Puede ser que usted necesite experimentar para poder obtener el tiempo exacto para obtener acceso a un servicio en particular; por lo tanto puede ser que sea más sencillo que use el marcado en cadena y espere por cada tono de acceso antes de oprimir el próximo botón de localidad de memoria DEMORA DE REPETICIÓN POR OCUPADA Usted puede cambiar la demora entre remarcados cuando está usando la función Repetición de llamada por ocupada entre 0 y 90 segundos (en incrementos de 10 segundos). 1. 31 Solución: Asegúrese de haber almacenado los números correctamente Problema: La repetición de llamada por ocupada no marca correctamente Solucion: Asegúrese que tiene una pausa insertada si es necesario CUIDADO Y MANTENIMIENTO Para mantener su teléfono de dos líneas Panacom PA-7300 en buen estado de funcionamiento y con una buena apariencia, observe las simples pautas siguientes: Evite colocar el teléfono cerca de aparatos calentadores y dispositivos que generan ruido eléctrico (es decir, motores, lámparas fluorescentes, etc.) No exponga el teléfono a luz solar directa ni a la humedad. Evite dejar caer el auricular y evite cualquier otro tratamiento brusco del teléfono. Limpie el teléfono con un paño suave. (Recuerde desconectar primero el teléfono del contacto de pared.) Nunca utilice un agente limpiador fuerte ni polvo abrasivo, ya que puede dañar el acabado. Conserve los materiales originales de empaque para utilizarlos en el futuro.
