2 The Cyberdemocracy research group has been analyzing the last three Spanish electoral campaigns with a multidisciplinary and broad conception of Political Communication. This has allowed the groupt to provide a nuanced analysis of the media practices and the communicative tools used by journalists, politicians and citizens. With the current I+D Project Practices and technopolitical profiles. Emerging notions of citizenship, the group will explore the technopolitical interactions among voters, candidates and social activists during the 2015 (6?) Spanish elections. At the same time, the group will continue the other relevant line of inquiry in which it has been working on since Víctor Sampedro s doctoral dissertation: the study of the uses and the communicative stategies of contemporary social movements, with a particular focus on the growing importance of ICTs and digital media. The IP's Ph D dissertation pioneered frame analysis and media agenda-building studies in Spain. Since then (1995), Cyberdemocracy has applied this perspective to the most significant electoral and social movements campaigns taking place in Spain during the last two decades. The composition of the group has changed along the time but always maintaining a core of researchers lead by the I.P. Víctor Sampedro. Their impact is shown by the quality and quantity of their high ranked publications and contributions in academic meetings. The I.P. is member of some of the most prestigious editorial boards both in domestic and international terms. He is also a regular member of some of the most relevant editorial boards and commitees encharged of evaluating academic excellence both for the public and private sector. The group has also developed meaningful and intensive tasks of formation, always maintaining high pedagogic standards in graduate and posgraduate studies, not only in Spain but also in many relevant foreign centers. Since the 1990's, the I.P. and the rest of members have been teaching Political Communication and/or Public Opinion with their own handbooks, manuals and pedagogic resources. Most of them can be accessed in or These sites, as well as the offcial site of the group ( have pionnered and practiced the open science and free access movement in Spanish academy. In this very same line, the group launched the first official postgraduate programe which Maters class are free accessed by citizens either physically in MediaLab Prado ( ) or online. In its three years of existence the Master's Program in Digital Communication, Culture and Citizenship ( has become a reference of innovative pedagogy. It provides several offline and online platforms where to conduct collaborative research very much linked to social innovation and innovation. Some Final Master's Projects have achieved recognition and become real: They can be considered practical materializations of the Group's conception of what Political Communication is (and should be). They respond to a clear academic commitment with the diffusion of knowledge to the point that professors and students of the Master's Program participate in equal terms in a collective blog published in a wellknown digital newspaper: Digital and international projection have been two distinct traces of Ciberdemocracia. In the last years, the group has strengthened its international relations with world leading centers in the study of digital communication from the perspective of social sciences. It's relevant in particular the Institute for Communication Studies of the University of Leeds ( ) that hosts the Center for Digital Citizenship directed by Stephen Coleman ( This other group gathers several leading scholars of five european countries: Kevin G. Barnhurst and Stephen Coleman (U. of Leeds); Leopoldina Fortunati (U of Udine); Birgit Eriksson, (Aarhus U.) and Slavko Splichal (U of Ljubljana). There exist former and strong professional ties with Pr. Barnhurst (who co-uthored four high ranking publications with V. Sampedro from 2002 to 2005) and with Pr. Fortunaty (supervisor of E. Trere's Ph.D. Thesis). During 2013 and 2014 Víctor Sampedro and the members of the team have held several meetings and workshops that culminated in a 2014 international meeting. From that event it emerged the idea of proposing and working on a common European Project within the Horizon Frame and on other collaborations and workshops, such as the panel "The Embodied and Digital Citizen: Communication, and Defining of the Good Life at the International Communication Association that toook place in Moreover, Professor Barnhurst is official member of the research team in the current I+D Project (CS C2-1-P) funded by the Ministry of Economy and Competitiveness. Unfortunately no Research Assistant was funded and that's a main reason for backing the candidate for a grant that will allow to continue and improve the above mentioned lines of research and formation projects.

3 The activities of the candidate Dr. Emiliano Treré within the Cyberdemocracy research group should be thought in this scenario. Dr. Treré will (1) greatly contribute with his expertise in technopolitics, digital media and social movements and his international experience to the development of the current I+D project; (2) contribute to the managing, strengthening and internationalization of the activities of the Master in Communication and Digital Citizenship, and (3) he finally will work on the European Project Horizon lead by the University of Leeds which was rejected (with a very high grade) but will be presented again in the 2015 call. BIOGRAPHIES AND EXPERIENCE OF THE RESEARCH TEAM CYBERDEMOCRACY MEMBERS Víctor Sampedro Blanco The Tutor investigator Víctor Sampedro Blanco is the coordinator of the research team Cyberdemocracy. He has taught courses and seminars at several universities and research centres in Spain, Europe and Latin America on electoral campaigns, social movements and digital media, at the BA and MA levels. He has been Invited Professor at Syracuse University and Pompeu Fabra, and has participated (still participates in many) in the MA programs of the International University of Andalusia (location Iberoamericana), the Universidade Federal Fluminense Federal de Bahia, the Pontificia Universidade Catolica de Sao Paulo, the University of El Salvador, the Iberoamericana University in Mexico City, the Bolivian Centre for Multidisciplinary Studies in La Paz, the University of Antioquia - Colombia, the University of Chihuahua - Merida Yucatan, the Ortega y Gasset Institute, and the School of Journalism of the El Pais newspaper - Autonomous University of Madrid. He is also Professor of the Master "Society, Administration and Politics" at the University Pablo de Olavide, of the Master in "Technology for Human Development and Cooperation" of the Polytechnic University of Madrid and in the Master in Management of Educational

He has taught in the Master in "Governance and Public Management" of the University Institute Ortega y Gasset, he has been Professor of the Master and PhD UNESCO Chair in Sustainability (UPC) between 2005 and 2009 and a professor in the graduate "Globalization, poverty and development "of the University of Lleida and assistant professor at the University of Houston between 1999 and Furthermore, he has taught courses and seminars at universities such as the URV, UdG, UAM, UC3M, UPM, UPC, UAB and UCA -El Salvador. Currently he is co-directing a thesis on the influence of 15M in social movements in Germany (PhD Elena Domingo San Juan) to be read in 2015 at the Technische Universität of Dresden. Raúl Magallón Rosa is Professor of Journalism and Audiovisual Communication at the Carlos III University of Madrid since 2007 (previously he was a professor at the European University Miguel de Cervantes of Valladolid). At UC3M he teaches Communication and Public Participation in the Network and since 2011 he is tutor for the final works of the BA in journalism. He is also a professor of postgraduate studies in Journalism and Digital Communication Innovation of the Entrepreneurship Business School (IEBS). He has taught in the Master of Journalism and communication of science, technology and environment at UC3M and the Master in Journalism research, data and display of the newspaper El Mundo. He is also co-director of Master's thesis final works at UC3M. Dr. Magallón has been Visiting Scholar at the French Press Institute of the Université de Paris II La Sorbonne (2008), at the National Institute of Audiovisual Studies of the Université de Paris I (2009), at the Department of Political and Social Sciences of the University of Milan (2010), the University of California, San Diego (2010), the University of Cagliari, Italy (2011), and the University of Metz (2012). Carmen Haro Barba Carmen is a PhD student in Communication at the Rey Juan Carlos University in Madrid. She is currently finishing her thesis titled Ciberdemocracy, ciberactivism and social movements the electoral campaign: from the movement for the right of housing to the 15M under the supervision of Víctor Sampedro Blanco. Her work is an examination of the role that ICTs play within new social movements opening new opportunities of citizen participation creating new forms of decentralized organization. She has published in important journals and presented her work on social movements in several national and international venues. Kevin Barnhurst Dr. Barnhurst, one of the world leading researchers in political, visual communication, and journalism is currently Chair of Communication in the Digital Era in the School of Media and Communication of the University of Leeds. Kevin is also Senior Visiting Professor at IE University, Madrid, and Professor Emeritus at the University of Illinois, Chicago, USA. He has published and lectured extensively on visual studies, journalism and social theory and he has been Fellow at the Harvard Kennedy School of Government and Vercelli Distinguished Fulbright Chair in the History of Twentieth Century Communication. He is a long time collaborator of Sampedro s team, with which he has published extensively both in Spanish and English.
