4 3. Contents 3.1 Contents according to the study plan of the subject The contents are based on three fundamental aspects: 1. Economic, physiological and environmental conditions involved in post-harvest aspects. 2. Study and classification of typical pathogens of rots and stored fruits and vegetables. 3. Description and control of rots and pathological changes. The subject content begins with an introduction to the pathology of post-harvest, their similarities and differences with the general plant pathology of crops. Special mention to the biological trophic associations between the host and the pathogen and the degrees of pathogenicity of pathogens in postharvest is discussed. Quantitative and qualitative losses occurring in fruits, vegetables and flowers rotting effect and physiological alterations were subsequently studied. Physiological aspects of harvested fruits and their relationship to pathogens are later study. The defenses of physical and chemical plant organs presented against attack by pathogens. Methods of prevention and control, and how to manage them with a practical approach and, finally, the identification and description of the main decay on the various types of fruits, vegetables and flowers. 3.2 Internship Program (Name and description each practice) The realization of the following practices are considered mandatory: 1. Methods of isolation and purification of fungi and bacteria that cause decay. 2. Recognition of groups of microorganisms, rotting and pathological changes in fruits and vegetables. 3. Implications parasitic microorganisms isolated from plant tissues. Pathogenicity tests. 4. Trials of prevention and control of rottenness. 5. Full description of rot. 6. Related to the control of rot through the selection and application of approved products exercises. All laboratory practice sessions will take place in the laboratory 0.33 of ETSIA building, unless the faculty considers necessary some sessions or part of them in another room of the same building. 3.3 English program theory (Teaching units and topics) LESSON 1: INTRODUCTION TO POSTHARVEST PATHOLOGY 1.1.
