OBJECTIVES La asignatura está estructurada en dos bloques, centrados en el ámbito jurídico y económico. La primera parte de la asignatura se propone como objetivo principal ayudar al alumno a familiarizarse con la materia prima de la traducción jurídica en la combinación lingüística inglés/español, así como con su inmensa variedad y heterogeneidad. En último extremo, el objetivo final es el capacitar al alumnado, a partir de una toma de conciencia sobre la naturaleza peculiar y heterogénea del lenguaje jurídico, para que desarrolle estrategias de respuesta que, en el ejercicio de la traducción, se demuestren adecuadas para hacer frente al anisomorfismo lingüístico, retórico, ideológico y cultural. De tales objetivos generales, se derivan asimismo los siguientes objetivos específicos: -Fomentar una actitud positiva de los alumnos hacia los textos jurídicos. -Saber discriminar lo que es original y significativo y lo que es rutina retórica en los textos legales en inglés, un paso fundamental para despegarse de métodos de traducción excesivamente literalistas. -Repasar una selección representativa de la diversidad de textos y situaciones que caen bajo el abarcador paraguas de la traducción jurídica. -Percibir la inmensa heterogeneidad de los lenguajes jurídicos y descubrir los problemas de entendimiento y éticos que puede plantear un seguimiento estricto y acrítico de la norma literalista al uso. -Saber responder ante los desfases retóricos de las culturas legales que convergen en el acto de traducción, en particular los planteados por las variedades periféricas o por el Plain English. La segunda parte de la asignatura se propone familiarizar al alumnado con la materia prima de la traducción en el ámbito económico, un campo amplísimo que, como también ocurre con la esfera jurídica, está caracterizado por una inmensa pluralidad. De ese objetivo global se desprenden los siguientes objetivos específicos: -Aprender a detectar las características más sobresalientes de este tecnolecto en lengua inglesa. -Repasar los tipos de textos más representativos en el ámbito económico a fin de dar cuenta de la heterogeneidad de las manifestaciones textuales a la que se enfrenta el traductor que decide especializarse en este terreno. -Facilitar al alumnado la toma de conciencia sobre esas peculiaridades lingüísticas de la lengua inglesa que suponen un reto específico a la hora de emprender labores de traducción y mediación intercultural en el mundo de la economía, las finanzas y/o las relaciones comerciales.
