To color the filters, either dab on watercolor paint with a brush or draw on designs with markers -- or both. The watercolors will bleed into each other. If using markers, sprinkle the filter lightly with water to make the ink blend together. For a shimmery effect, add glitter-and-glue designs Once the filter is dry, pinch it in the middle like a bow tie. Slide or clip a clothespin onto it and fan out each side of the filter to resemble a butterfly's wings. 3. Cut two strips of construction paper, approximately the size of matchsticks, and glue them onto the clothespin for a pair of antennae. Then clip them to curtains, hang them from the kitchen chandelier, and even fasten a few to the telephone cord. Clase 2 BARK PAINTINGS. 2

3 BARK PAINTINGS Cut a large rectangle from a grocery bag, wet it with water, and crumple it up. Squeeze out the extra water, then flatten out the paper. Use an iron set on low to dry the paper and to smooth it further. Draw the outline of your design using a wide-tipped black marker, then fill in the spaces with colorful acrylic, tempera, or craft paint. To make your paint colors brighter against the brown paper background, mix in a bit of white paint. Clase 3 CURLY BIRDS 2HORAS CURLY BIRDS First, use this guide to measure and cut the card stock strips you'll need for each bird: Body: 5 (1-inch-wide) strips, 3, 4, 5, 6, and 7 inches long Head: 2 (1-inch-wide) strips, 2 1/2 and 3 1/2 inches long Tail: 5 (1 1/2-inch-wide) strips, 2, 3, 4, 5, and 6 inches long Beak: 1 (1- by 2-inch) strip Eyes: 1 (1- by 1 1/2-inch) strip Roll the body strips into circles, overlap their ends about 1/4 inch, and secure with tacky glue. 3 Nest the circles and glue them together. Tip: Use a clothespin to hold the pieces until the glue dries. Do the same with the head strips, then glue the head to the body. Trim the tail strips into long triangles, then curl them a bit before gluing them together. Glue the tail to the body.

4 Fold the beak rectangle in half, then cut off the two folded corners at an angle, as shown. Fold in the tabs and glue them to the bird's head. Roll the eye piec Clase 4 PAPER MOSAICS 2HORAS PAPER MOSAIC: Choose an image from your child's artwork or a coloring book to use as a pattern for your central design. Trace the individual elements of the image onto mulberry paper (sold in craft and art supply stores), and then cut them out. Apply the design to the lamp by brushing glue (we recommend Mod-Podge) onto the appropriate portion of the shade. Use your fingertips to gently press the paper pieces in place and to smooth any air pockets. Once you have the design positioned, randomly fill in the surrounding area with mulberry paper triangles. 4 When your decoration is complete, brush a top coat of Mod-Podge onto the entire outer surface of the shade.

5 Clase 5 PICASSO PICASSO, A PORTRAIT OF AN ARTIST LIFE AND WORKS 1. With the paintbrush, apply a coat of paint to the canvas (this is a great job for kids - just cover your work surface with plenty of newspaper and remember a smock, since the acrylic paint may not wash out of clothing). Let the paint dry overnight, and if it's splotchy, apply a second coat. 2. Arrange the portraits on the canvas. Working one piece of art at a time, use the foam brush to apply a thin coat of Mod-Podge to the back, then to the corresponding space on the canvas. 3. Place the art on the canvas, then smooth out any bubbles with your hand, starting in the center and pressing out toward each edge. Let the Mod-Podge dry (about 1 hour) before adding any overlapping portraits. 4. When all the artwork is dry, use the foam brush to coat the whole canvas with a thin layer of Mod-Podge. 5. Simply repeat step 3 when adding portraits at a future date, then coat only the new additions with Mod-Podge. 5 Clase 5 PICASSO 1.
