David Desde el Escritorio del Padre David OCTOBER IS THE MONTH OF THE HOLY ROSARY Every year, we start the month of October with the celebrations of St. Therese of the Child Jesus, our Guardian Angels, St. Francis of Assisi. On Oct 14th, Pope Francis will canonize two brave bishops, Blessed Paul VI and Blessed Oscar Romero. Blessed Paul VI was the Pope who concluded the Vatican II in He was Pope in a very difficult time for the Church and one of his most significant letters was Humane Vitae, and died on August 6, Blessed Oscar Romero was born on August 15, 1917 in El Salvador. He was archbishop of San Salvador for three years. On March 23, 1980, the day before his assassination, Blessed Oscar Romero had delivered a well-known homily. He said, "In the name of God and in the name of this suffering people, whose laments rise to heaven each day more tumultuous, I beg you, I beseech you, I order you in the name of God, stop the repression." During a memorial Mass at the Hospitalito La Divina Providencia, On March 24, 1980 at 6:15 pm, Archbishop Romero was killed. He just was finishing the homily. Then, his funeral Mass took place at the cathedral pf San Salvador six days after he was murder. An estimated 200,000 people attended the service, which was interrupted by gunfire that left many people dead. Pope Francis will canonized both Paul VI and Oscar Romero on Sunday Oct 14, In our parish, there will be a special ceremony in honor of Saint Oscar Romero on October 27 and 28. Finally, during the month of October, let us accept the challenge of praying the rosary. The Rosary marks our lifestyle that should be that of Christ. The meditative repetition of the life of Christ deepens in us and marks our being and actions as disciples of Christ. May our blessed Mother intercede for us. OCTUBRE ES EL MES DEL SANTO ROSARIO Cada año, comenzamos el mes de octubre con las celebraciones de Santa Teresa del Niño Jesús, nuestros Ángeles Guardianes, San Francisco de Asís. El 14 de octubre, el Papa Francisco canonizará a dos obispos valientes, el Beato Pablo VI y el Beato Oscar Romero. Pablo VI fue el Papa que concluyó el Concilio Vaticano II en Fue un Papa en un momento muy difícil para la Iglesia y una de sus cartas más significativas fue Humane Vitae, y murió el 6 de agosto de El beato Oscar Romero nació el 15 de agosto de 1917 en El Salvador. 5 Thanks to all of you who were able to stop by our St. Vincent de Paul Pantry for coffee and a visit after last Sunday s 8:30am Mass. We enjoyed talking with each of you and the children liked making bag lunches for those we serve each day.
