3 From the Desk of Fr. David Desde el Escritorio del Padre David THANKS BE TO GOD Thanksgiving is a holiday full of memories from childhood, traveling, and cooking. Thanksgiving is an attitude that permeates our entire lives and gives meaning to all we do. Thanksgiving Day is a special time to remember the blessings we have received from God, so that we can be a more thankful people every day. The reasons for having grateful hearts make up a long litany: the gift of life itself, faith in a God who loves us and is very near to us, good health, loving family, caring friends, opportunities to serve, food on our tables, roofs over our heads. Yes, we have our times of doubt, our aches and pains, our family conflicts, and our economic struggles. But in spite of all these challenges, we are incredibly blessed! OUR THANKSGIVING DAY MASS WILL BE ON THURSDAY NOVEMBER 22 ND AT 8:30 AM Lord, thank you for walking with us through the seasons of our lives. For the winter, when we are held safe in your arms through the darkness. For the hope of spring, as we are filled with new promise and life. For summer time, full of warmth and color, And for autumn days as leaves fall to seed new growth. You are always with us. Amen. SHIRT SALE After Mass, the Guadalupano Group is selling shirts for the Diocesan pilgrimage in honor of Our Lady of Guadalupe. This year, our parish will carry a Marian float, and we would like to go together with the same shirt. 5 No family in this parish needs to go hungry. The St Vincent de Paul Food Pantry (Church Hall) is open on November 20 for its monthly Meals of Mercy from 4:30 pm to 6:30 pm. Funded by a grant from the Catholic Relief Services Rice Bowl, the program offers a selection of fresh fruit and vegetables, meat and groceries to our neighbors in need of nutritious food. Those with reservations for a Thanksgiving turkey (ham or chicken) will be contacted to arrange a pick-up time for their food and turkey. Ninguna familia en esta parroquia debe pasar hambre.
