5 Phrases with New Verbs Remember, when there are two verbs in a row in a sentence, only conjugate the first one. I know how: I know how to play volleyball: You know how: You know how to play soccer: I can: I can play baseball with you: You can: You can play football today: I want: I want to swim this weekend: You want: You want to walk: I would like to: I would like to go fishing: You would like to: Would you like to dance?
6 Negative Sentences Remember, to make a sentence negative, put no in front of the verb (ex: No dibujo mucho). I don t know how: I don't know how to play soccer: You don t know how: You don t know how to swim?: I can t: I can t play volleyball this afternoon: You can t: You can t play tennis with her: I don t want: I don t want to go camping: You don t want: You don t want to play basketball: I would not like to: I would not like to play golf: You would not like to: You wouldn t like to ski?
7 Ir + a + place/ir + a + infinitive Ir + a is a very useful phrase! We use it for a) saying where we re going: Vamos a la playa. Voy a la fiesta. b) saying an action we ll do in the future: Vamos a jugar al fútbol. Voy a comer. When you use this phrase for actions, leave the action verb in the infinitive form (with the ar/er/ir ending). Ella va a jugar al vóleibol. ir + a + infinitive Try it! 1. I m going to run. 2. He is going to play tennis. 3. We are going to talk in Spanish. 4. They are going to eat. 5. You all are going to dance. 6. You (informal) are going to go fishing. 7. Ana and Nico are going to play golf. 8. Are you going to be sad? (ser or estar?)
