Rosario Barbosa prosario2000@gmail.com DESCRIPCIÓN DEL CURSO Este curso se enfoca en reflexiones filosóficas en cuanto a las ciencias fácticas, con especial énfasis en las ciencias naturales, en cuanto a su esencia, su dinámica social interna y su impacto en la sociedad en general. Requisitos para el Curso: Ninguno Créditos: Tres (3) OBJETIVO El estudiante se debe familiarizar con tres temas. En primer lugar, con la discusión en torno a la naturaleza misma de las ciencias fácticas en general. Segundo, se familiarizará con las discusiones filosóficas en torno a la dinámica social entre científicos a la hora de proponer y aceptar teorías científicas. Habrá al menos dos presentaciones orales de cualquiera de las lecturas sugeridas, un examen parcial a mediados de semestre y un trabajo escrito final. Las presentaciones orales se harán en clase y el estudiante expositor debe estar listo para preguntas de sus compañeros y del profesor. El profesor está en la disposición de aclarar cualquier duda al estudiante en relación con la lectura hasta una hora antes de la presentación oral en clases. El profesor se reserva la disposición de aclarar a última hora. Se proveerán preguntas guías de las lecturas obligadas en clases para orientar y ayudar a la comprensión de lectura. El trabajo escrito deberá cumplir con las especificaciones del estilo Turabian. Para ello, consulte el libro: Turabian, Kate. Se espera que los estudiantes hayan leído las lecturas asignadas para propósitos de la discusión de clases. La participación se tomará en consideración para la nota final. Al final del curso el peso de las puntuaciones serán de la siguiente manera: 40% las presentaciones orales; 30% el examen parcial, 20% el trabajo final y 10% comportamiento y participación en clase. PREH 4996: PROBLEMAS FILOSÓFICOS Y SOCIALES DE LAS CIENCIAS 5 La Ley 51 (1996) titulada Ley de Servicios Integrales para Personas con Impedimentos obliga al estado y a la Universidad de Puerto Rico a proveer servicios de educación especial a estudiantes que resulten elegibles para recibirlos.
