IV LETTER FROM OUR PASTOR Mission Basilica San Juan Capistrano Dear Brothers and Sisters, These past two weekends we have focused our attention here in the parish on this year s Pastoral Services Appeal Campaign. Proceeds from this yearly campaign helps to support important and vital ministries of our local Diocese of Orange. Our goal for this year s campaign is $ 175,000.00. Reaching this goal will not only meet our Diocesan fair share of $ 130,000.00 but will enable us, with monies returned to the parish, to support two vital parish outreach ministries, our Serra Pantry supplemental food distribution program and our St. Vincent de Paul outreach programs to the poor in our local area. I am thankful to those parishioners who have pledged already to this annual campaign. As of this past Wednesday, we presently have 421 pledges, amounting to$70,635.00. While this is a positive beginning for us in this year s campaign, it represents a little under 15% of our entire parish community. If you have not as yet sent in your pledge, I encourage you to do so this coming week. Within the next few weeks, members of our Pastoral Services Appeal Campaign committee will be telephoning parishioners who have not as yet made their annual pledge to this campaign. It is my hope that we will be able to achieve our goal for this year s campaign before Easter. They are a nonprofit organization that was founded at Saint Justin Martyr parish in Anaheim in 1975. The focus of their year-round mission is to market handcrafts from many developing nations and low-income areas of the U.S, thus supporting the selfemployment of thousands of impoverished artisans, as well as their survival and that of their families. The crafts are produced through projects sponsored by missioners and other charitable, relief programs. They also have a gift shop, located at 1944 N. Tustin, Suite 102 in Orange, and their number is 714/464-0556. Please support this very worthwhile mission. You may also bring to their craft sale the following donations for their frequent visits to Catholic missions serving the poor in Mexico, and low-income Native Americans in Northern Arizona: clothing for all age groups; plus blankets and linens (all freshly laundered, please); school supplies; backpacks; hygiene products and especially toothbrushes, toothpaste, baby wipes, diapers, Depends; children s books; housewares and non-perishable foods. PREGUNTA DE REFLEXION DE LA SEMANA Semana del 27 de Febrero del 2011 8 Domingo del Tiempo Ordinario, Ciclo A Isaías 49, 14-15 1 Corintios 4,1-5 Mateo 6, 24-34 Tema: La Palabra de Dios es viva y eficaz; juzga los deseos e intenciones del corazón Adultos: Cuáles manifestaciones del amor de Dios por mí reconozco en mi familia, trabajo, o en el mundo? Adolescentes y Niños: Quién me ama profundamente? Qué me dice ese amor del amor que Dios me tiene? MENSAJE DE LA SEMANA A QUIÉN LE PERTENECE ESTE MUNDO? Un buen administrador es una persona responsable hombre o mujer en la cual se puede confiar y de quien se puede depender sin necesidad de que el dueño tenga que estar asesorándole a cada paso. La segunda lectura de hoy dice que un administrador debe ser fiel; sin embargo, aunque el administrador haga muy bien su trabajo y por muchos años nunca se convertirá en dueño de eso que administra. Tú podrás creer que eres dueño de muchas cosas: una casa con todo sus contenidos, un coche, una computadora, un teléfono móvil, terrenos o propiedades, un negocio, acciones en una empresa y fondos de inversión colectivos. De verdad es tuyo todo eso? Si así fuera, pudieras llevártelo todo cuando te mueras. El valor de cualquier cosa que posees tiene sólo el valor que otros le atribuyen. Qué pasaría si empezaras a mirar las cosas no como algo que posees sino algo que administras? Piensa en las implicaciones que eso tendría. Si pensaras menos en que eres dueño y más en que eres administrador con una corresponsabilidad por lo que Dios te ha dado... te aferrarías menos a las cosas? te preguntarías más a menudo quién pudiera beneficiarse de tus cosas? pensarías más en los demás antes que en ti? considerarías cómo podrías beneficiar a las futuras generaciones? Un cambio de actitud que piense menos como dueño y más como administrador y responsable pudiera parecer insignificante, pero si te lo propones y llegas a hacerte tal hábito puede cambiar tu manera de pensar, tus palabras y acciones de forma inesperada. Empieza por decirte: Voy a tratar de ver todo lo que me pertenece no como dueño sino con una corresponsabilidad por lo que Dios me ha dado, ya sean mis cosas, mis relaciones, mis posibilidades. El verdadero dueño y juez de todo es Dios. Es Dios quien saca a la luz aquello que está escondido y conoce las intenciones de tu corazón. Después de todo, a quién le pertenece este mundo? 27 de Febrero del 2011 8 Domingo del Tiempo Ordinario IX Carta del Pastor Queridos hermanos y hermanas, Estos dos fines de semana pasados hemos enfocado la atención en la parroquia a la Campaña Anual para Servicios Pastorales. El dinero restante de la campaña de este año nos ha ayudado para apoyar los ministerios importantes y vitales de nuestra iglesia local la Diócesis de Orange. Nuestra meta para este año es de $175,000.00. El llegar a nuestra meta no solo cumplirá con la cantidad que la Diócesis nos pide $130,000.00 sino que también nos permitirá seguir apoyando a nuestros propios ministerios en la parroquia como el Serra Pantry que distribuye alimentos y San Vicente de Paúl que ayuda a los pobres de nuestra comunidad. Estoy muy agradecido a aquellos feligreses quienes ya se han comprometido a la campaña anual. Hasta este pasado miércoles, nosotros contamos con la cantidad de $70,635.00, con un número de 421 familias comprometidas. Mientras que este es un comienzo positivo para nuestra campaña, solo representa menos de un 15% de nuestras familias en la comunidad. Si aún no has enviado tu promesa, te invito a que lo hagas esta próxima semana. Dentro de las siguientes semanas, miembros de nuestro comité para la Campaña para Servicios Pastorales estará haciendo llamadas telefónicas a aquellos feligreses que aún no se han comprometido a este proyecto. Es mi esperanza el poder llegar a la meta antes de la pascua. Comenzando una semana más en el Señor, recordemos a todos aquellos quienes nos han precedido en la fe, especialmente Alicia Ruiz Silva y Rosana Anguiano. Que descansen en paz. Siempre adelante! Mons. Estamos buscando a alguien que le guste coser para formar parte del ministerio que cose los baberitos para los bautizos de los niños. El servicio sería desde comprar el material, cortar el patrón, coser o planchar el símbolo del bautizo. Además entregarlos a la oficina de la Iglesia. Esta persona será responsable de asegurar que haya suficientes para los bautizos de inglés y español. Estará trabajando con otras tres personas que son las que le ponen el encaje a los babe- LEGION DE MARIA. Quieres aprender cómo amar a Jesús a través de Nuestra Madre Santísima? XII Mission Basilica San Juan Capistrano MATRIMONIOS COMUNITARIOS: INVITACION A LAS PAREJAS QUE ESTÁN VIVIENDO EN UNION LIBRE Se les hace una cordial invitación a todas las parejas que por diferentes motivos viven juntos pero no casados por la Iglesia a regularizar su unión con la bendición del Sacramento del Matrimonio. La ceremonia grupal se celebrará el Sábado 9 de Abril del 2011 a las 2:00 PM aquí en la Misión Basílica. Esta celebración es una tradición que está enraizada en la historia religiosa y cultural de nuestros países. Para una joven, la celebración de sus quince años puede convertirse en algo perdurable, en una experiencia que deje huella. Durante las sesiones de preparación, se les motivará a poner su celebración y su vida en las manos de Dios para que sea ocasión para acercar a la familia y renovar el sentido cristiano. Lo que pretendemos, es preparar de tal manera a la joven para que encuentre en ésta comunidad un motivo de cercanía a la vida parroquial. Les pedimos que se inscriban por lo menos 6 meses antes de la celebración. Los requisitos son los siguientes: Ser miembro de la parroquia. haber recibido los sacramentos de bautismo y comunión. Tenemos cuatro misas de quinceañeras en el año y solamente son en grupo. Les recomendamos que primeramente hable a pedir información de las fechas de las misas y si le interesa tener la celebración en nuestra parroquia entonces aparte el lugar de la fiesta donde ustedes elijan. Inscripción en la Parroquia: Bienvenido a nuestra parroquia! Le invitamos a hacerse miembro y ser parte de nuestra comunidad. La inscripción es la única manera de certificar la membresía parroquial, es por eso que les sugerimos que se inscriban. Para inscribirse, pase por la oficina de la parroquia para llenar el formulario de inscripción. Los Sobres: La Misión Basílica depende totalmente de la generosidad de nuestros feligreses. Usando su sobre de ofertorio, sin importar la cantidad de su donación, hace posible nuestros ministerios y actividades.
