D- RATE CERTIFICATION CLASSES (16 Hours) The D- Rate certification is a specialized training for caregivers (licensed foster parents, relative caregivers, and non- relative legal guardians) to develop the skills necessary to effectively deal with the unique challenges of caring for children who exhibit severe and persistent emotional and behavioral problems. The training will also cover information on counseling, psychotherapy, medication monitoring, special education, child development and behavior management. Renewal hours are required annually. W- RATE CERTIFICATION CLASSES (16 Hours) A Whole Family Foster (W- Rate) home provides care for a teen parent and his/her non- dependent child and is specifically recruited and trained to assist the teen parent in developing the skills necessary to provide a safe, stable and permanent home. The training will include the completion of a Shared Responsibility Plan (SRP). As well, there will be discussion about caring for the developing teen and baby; roles, rights and responsibilities of teen parents and caregivers; and information, resources and DCFS policies and compensation. Renewal hours are required annually.
