4 More than 600 women will be diagnosed with breast cancer in Chattanooga and the surrounding counties this year. Y-ME National Breast Cancer Organization mission is to ensure, through information, empowerment and peer support, that no one faces breast cancer alone. For 25 years, Y-ME has provided support to women diagnosed with breast cancer and their families. In 1992, local breast cancer survivor Elaine Hill and her friend Martha Lee brought Y-ME s support services to the Chattanooga area with the establishment of the Chattanooga Affiliate. Y-ME services include: 24-hour Y-ME National Breast Cancer Hotline: (English) or (Spanish). Web Site ( offers breast cancer information, resources and support for patients, families, friends and medical professionals in English and Spanish. Breast Cancer Educational Series presented by medical professionals on topics related to breast cancer diagnosis, treatment, and recovery. Support groups throughout Chattanooga including Young Survivors Group. On With Life! group therapy for women with recurrence, meetastatis or stage III breast cancer. Financial assistance with rent or utilities for women in treatment for breast cancer. Prosthesis and Bra Bank for women with limited financial resources. Breast cancer information and referrals for services in Chattanooga. Healing Arts Therapy programs utilizing painting, collage, writing an other media to lessen anxiety and improve self-image. Newsletters in English and Spanish with up-to-date information on breast cancer research.
