Todas las colecciones GAN están hechas a mano en este maravilloso país que, gracias a la sensibilidad y la sabiduría de sus miles de artesanos, nos permite ofrecer a nuestros clientes productos con alma. Exploramos todos sus rincones buscando nuevas técnicas que ofrecer a nuestros diseñadores. Intentamos ser abiertos, flexibles, escuchar y disfrutar. Y en ese viaje siempre hay un hallazgo, una idea o una sorpresa que hace que todo el esfuerzo tenga sentido. Entonces empieza la colaboración, el trabajo en equipo, la fusión entre los mejores diseños del mundo y las manos más expertas. En un proceso con muchas idas y vueltas que acaba en casa de nuestros clientes convertido en un objeto que va a formar parte de sus vidas, que van a amar. Y así se cierra el círculo. That s when the collaboration starts, the teamwork, the fusion of the best designers and the most expert hands in the world. It is a process brimming with ideas, twists and turns that culminates in our customers homes with objects that become part of their lives, that they will love... and so the circle closes. 10 Una colaboración muy especial. A very special collaboration. Qué significa para ti el diseño y qué valores culturales crees que aporta? Diseño, entendido como diseño industrial, es para mi un proceso riguroso, severo y disciplinado debido a que tiene que ver con la reproducción en serie, la industrialización, los moldes y las máquinas para la producción. Parte de una idea, una necesidad, un brief y se transforma en un tool for living, reproducible, con una duración en el tiempo ya estipulada y una serie de valores que no son sólo funcionales, ergonómicos no sólo son un confort físico sino también mental y emocional. Observando nuestra sociedad, los valores culturales que puede representar un objeto, la sintetizan, representándola o anticipándola. Son el interfaz de nuestra vida, la mejora y la condiciona. El impacto verdadero de un producto original sólo es perceptible con el transcurso del tiempo. Su crítica es el tiempo y el usuario final lo puede determinar. Dónde y cómo trabajas en tus diseños? Hay mucho trabajo de investigación y experimentación en el estudio. Y mucho desarrollo itinerante, con las empresas que trabajo, con los fabricantes de diferentes materiales, en las obras de arquitectura. Soy realmente afortunada porque puedo trabajar con diferentes culturas, en diferentes escalas de proyecto y en diferentes periodos. Con muchas editoras, clientes, proveedores y consultores de los cuales aprendo muchísimo Quiénes son tus diseñadores y diseños favoritos? Mis mentores, Achille Castiglione y Magistretti entre otros tantos. Y dentro de mis coetáneos Jasper Morrison, los hermanos Bouroullec y Konstantin Grcic. Consideras que hay una estrecha relación entre el diseño y la arquitectura? Sí, en mi caso una las dos disciplinas se mezclan a partes iguales, una no podría vivir sin la otra. Tengo la suerte de poder trabajar en diferentes escalas, en proyectos orgánicos. Teniendo la oportunidad de probar en vivo los productos que diseño. Pensarlos en una escala real y proyectar los espacios domésticos que coexisten con el producto y la arquitectura. 08

11 What does design mean to you and which cultural values do you think it contributes? Design, and by that I mean industrial design is, in my view, a rigorous, severe and disciplined process, because it involves serial reproduction, industrialisation, moulds and production machinery. It is based on an idea, a need and a brief and it transforms into a tool for living, reproducible, with a predetermined duration in time and a series of values that are not only functional, ergonomic... not only physical but also mental and emotional comfort. Observing our society, the cultural values that an object can represent, they summarise, representing and anticipating it. They are the interface of our lives, they improve and determine it. The true impact of an original product is only perceivable as time goes by. Time is the critic and the end user is the one who decides. Would you say there is a close relationship between design and architecture? In my case both disciplines overlap; one could not exist without the other. Luckily, I get to work on different scales and on organic projects. I get the chance to test the products I design. I can conceive them in full scale and envisage the domestic spaces that coexist with the product and with architecture. How and where do you work on your designs? Although I do a lot of research and experimentation in the studio, I also design on the go when I m working with companies, fabric manufacturers or on architectural projects. I m extremely fortunate as I get to work with different cultures, on different scales and at different stages of the projects. I work with publishers, clients, suppliers and consultants and I m constantly learning from them all. Who are your favourite designers and designs? My mentors Achille Castiglione and Magistretti, among so many others. As regards my peers, Jasper Morrison, the Bouroullec brothers and Konstantin Grcic. 13 Qué te inspiró para la Colección Mangas Space? Una noche vino José A. Gandía-Blasco a mi casa de Ibiza y me comentó la idea de hacer un espacio y la verdad es que discurriendo salió enseguida la idea de mezclar cojines con respaldo, con pufs y así salió Mangas Space, un espacio polivalente. Cómo elegiste los colores de la colección? Los colores salieron de algunos que utilizamos en la colección Mangas, siempre me ha gustado mezclar colores naturales con fuertes. Dónde crees que encaja tu colección? Creo que según cómo hagas las composiciones puede encajar un poco en cualquier parte, es bastante flexible. Es una colección que puede funcionar desde un único elemento, un puf o una chaise longue sola hasta composiciones mas complejas. Qué significa para ti un espacio GAN? Un espacio polivalente, que sea tanto de relax como para sentarse cómodamente y trabajar con tu ipad. Un espacio que rompe los límites entre el indoor y el outdoor, creando un nuevo territorio donde se pueden usar tipologías de muebles outdoor en el interior creando espacios abiertos. Cómo empezaste tu colaboración con GANDIABLASCO? Como muchas veces sucede, encontrándose personas que tienen las ganas de trabajar juntas, y creyendo en la posibilidad de añadir algo intentando superar, recíprocamente, los propios límites. Qué tienes en mente para la próxima colección? La verdad es que ya hace tiempo que estamos trabajando en ella, así que saldrá en breve. No quiero hablar demasiado hasta que no salga. Where did you find inspiration for the Mangas Space Collection? José A. Gandía-Blasco came over to my house in Ibiza one night and asked me about designing the space. During that conversation, I came up with the idea to combine cushions with poufs and that led to Mangas Space, a multifunctional proposal. How did you decide on the colours for the collection? I used some of the colours from the Mangas collection; I ve always enjoyed combining natural and strong colours. Where do you see your collection? I think the collection is quite adaptable and can go almost anywhere, depending on how you decide to arrange the space. It s quite flexible. The collection can work around both a single element such as a pouff or a chaise longue or as part of a complex composition. What does a GAN space mean to you? It s a multifunctional space where you can relax and unwind or just sit and work on your ipad. A space that breaks down the boundaries between indoor and outdoor, creating a new territory that allows for outdoor furniture to be used indoors to create open spaces. How did you start working with GANDIABLASCO? As you do. I met people who wanted to work together. We also believed in the possibility of contributing something new by attempting to break boundaries reciprocally. What do you have in mind for the next collection? We ve actually been working on it for some time and it s almost ready. I don t want to let the cat out of the bag until then. 11

157 MANTENIMIENTO Y LIMPIEZA CLEANING AND CARE Las alfombras GAN están hechas a mano y fabricadas en 100% lana virgen. Para garantizar una larga vida útil, requiere, de cierto mantenimiento y limpieza periódica. Todas las alfombras, cuando son nuevas, forman y desprenden pelusilla durante las primeros meses. CONSEJOS GENERALES: Eliminar barriendo con escoba suave y en dirección al sentido del pelo y, a continuación, pasar el aspirador (con ruedas en la boquilla) en el mismo sentido. No utilizar nunca un aspirador de agua/aire. Una vez deje de formarse esta pelusa, se deberá pasar regularmente el aspirador (mínimo una vez por semana). No mojar las alfombras puesto que ciertos colores intensos pueden desteñir debido a las características de los tintes naturales utilizados, sobre todo en nuestra colección Kilim. No tirar nunca de ningún hilo que sobresalga de la superficie: cortarlo a ras del resto. Para repartir el desgaste entre toda la superficie por igual, recomendamos cambiar el sentido de la alfombra 2 o 3 veces al año. MANCHAS Y TRATAMIENTO GENERAL: Actuar de forma rápida para evitar que se seque o se destiñan, y se facilitará su eliminación. Manchas líquidas: Eliminar al instante, absorbiéndolo con papel de cocina o un trapo blanco limpio. Manchas sólidas: Rascar cuidadosamente con la punta de un cuchillo o una cuchara. Limpiar desde el borde exterior hacia el centro para evitar que se agranden. Probar los productos nuevos primero en una esquina. Utilizar poca cantidad para evitar mojar en exceso el pelo de la alfombra. Actuar mediante ligeras presiones para no deformar el pelo. ACEITE, GRASA, MANTEQUILLA, MIEL, CERA, CREMA, BETÚN, ALQUITRÁN, ABRILLANTADOR DE METALES O TINTA DE BOLÍGRAFO: Limpiar en seco, aplicar detergente neutro con una esponja y secar aplicando papel de cocina o trapo blanco limpio. CAFÉ, LECHE, TÉ, CACAO, CHOCOLATE, HELADO, SANGRE, VINOS, REFRESCOS O LICORES, HOLLÍN: Absorber con papel de cocina o pasando el aspirador, aplicar, con una esponja, una disolución de detergente neutro, vinagre suave y agua tibia y aclarar con un trapo blanco limpio y secar con papel absorbente. SALSAS, VÓMITOS, HELADO, HUEVO, ZUMOS DE FRUTAS: Retirar los residuos de la mancha con agua tibia y un paño blanco limpio, aplicar con una esponja detergente neutro disuelto en agua tibia, y luego aclarar con un trapo blanco y secar con papel. ORINA O EXCREMENTOS: Retirar, bien con papel de cocina o bien con agua tibia y un paño blanco limpio, aplicar con una esponja una disolución de detergente neutro, vinagre suave y agua tibia, y luego aclarar con un trapo blanco limpio y secar con papel absorbente. CHICLE O LÁPIZ DE LABIOS: Eliminar mediante limpieza en seco (disolvente para limpieza en seco), aplicar detergente neutro disuelto en agua tibia, con una esponja y luego aclarar con un trapo blanco limpio y secar con papel absorbente. ESMALTE DE UÑAS: Aplicar acetona y realizar una limpieza en seco. BARRO: Una vez seco, se deberá cepillar y aspirar. Posteriormente, aplicar una disolución de agua tibia con amoníaco (3 partes de agua y 1 de amoníaco) con una esponja y aclarar con agua tibia y un paño blanco limpio y dejar secar. QUEMADURAS DE CIGARRILLOS: Eliminar frotando con una superficie dura (asegurándose de que dicha superficie no deje restos) y después cepillar y aspirar. SUCIEDAD EN GENERAL: Limpiar mediante una solución de agua tibia con amoníaco con una esponja, aclarar con agua tibia y un paño blanco limpio y dejar secar. *Limpieza en seco: Utilización de un disolvente para limpieza en seco (alcohol) o de un aerosol específico. *Detergente neutro: Utilización de una solución acuosa de jabón para moquetas. ESTABLECIMIENTOS ESPECIALIZADOS Si con las indicaciones especificadas no consigue eliminar la mancha, o son manchas de pinturas o barnices al aceite; o si la alfombra se encuentra expuesta en zonas públicas y de gran paso de gente, es recomendable acudir a un profesional de confianza. Si decide limpiar su alfombra GAN en una tintorería, recuerde comunicarle a su profesional de confianza nuestros consejos de limpieza para estos casos; puesto que han sido extraídos de los test de lavado solicitados por GANDIABLASCO a laboratorios acreditados: Limpieza con cepillos rotativos en medio acuoso con lavadora horizontal de arrastre para colores sólidos, con restricción de la acción mecánica de los cepillos en alfombras de lana de pelo largo. Limpieza con cepillos rotativos en espuma seca para colores no sólidos (colección Kilim). Secado fuera de la acción de la luz solar directa, al aire libre colgada sobre barra estática. Secado en secadero de aire caliente forzado, siempre y cuando no se sobrepasen los 45ºC de temperatura. GAN rugs are handmade with 100% new wool. To guarantee they last a long time, they require regular care and cleaning. All new rugs shed and fluff for a few months. STAINS AND GENERAL TREATMENT: For easier removal, act immediately to prevent drying and fading. Liquid stains: Remove immediately, soaking up with kitchen paper or a clean white cloth. Solid stains: Scratch off carefully with the tip of a knife or spoon. Clean from the outside to the centre to avoid them from getting bigger. Test new products on a small area to ensure they do not affect the colour. Use a very small amount to avoid soaking the pile. Apply the product with a damp sponge, pressing gently on the rug. Do not scrub or rub as this may pull the pile out of shape. OIL, GREASE, BUTTER, HONEY, WAX, CREAM, SHOE POLISH, TAR, METAL POLISHER OR INK STAINS: First dry clean and then apply neutral detergent with a damp sponge. Dry with kitchen paper or with a white clean cloth. COFFEE, MILK, TEA, COCOA, CHOCOLATE, ICE-CREAM, BLOOD, WINE, SOFT DRINK, LIQUOR OR SOOT STAINS: After soaking up with kitchen paper or a vacuum cleaner, apply a solution of neutral detergent, soft vinegar and lukewarm water with a damp sponge. Then rinse with a clean white cloth and dry with absorbent paper. SAUCE, VOMIT, ICE-CREAM, EGG, FRUIT JUICE STAINS: First remove the remains of the stain with lukewarm water and a clean white cloth, and then apply neutral detergent dissolved in lukewarm water with a damp sponge. GENERAL DIRT: Clean with a solution of lukewarm water and ammonia, using a damp sponge after vacuuming, then rinse with lukewarm water and a clean white cloth and allow to dry. *Dry cleaning: Follow the manufacturers instructions of any dry cleaning solvents (alcohol) or specific aerosols. *Neutral detergent: Use a neutral rug soap diluted in water. PROFESSIONAL CLEANING If you are unable to remove the stain using these guidelines, or if the stains are paint or oil-based varnish, or if the rug is in a public area used by a lot of people, we recommend taking the rug to a professional cleaner. If you take your GAN rug to the dry cleaner s, remember to provide them with our cleaning recommendations because these are based on cleaning tests carried out on behalf of GANDIABLASCO by reputable laboratories. Clean carpets with rotating brushes in aqueous medium with a horizontal axis dragging washing machine for solid colours, restricting the mechanical action of the brushes on long-pile wool carpets. Clean with rotating brushes and dry foam for non-solid colours (Kilim collection). To dry, hang the carpet outdoors over a static bar, away from direct sunlight. Rugs may be dried in a forced hot air dryer, provided that it does not exceed a temperature of 45ºC.
