2 Page 2 Welcome to Our Lady of Guadalupe April 19, 2015 Third Sunday of Easter Tercer Domingo de Pascua You alone, O LORD, bring security to my dwelling. - Psalm 4:9 Sólo tú, Señor, eres mi tranquilidad. - Salmo 4:9 Ite, Inflammate Omnia Capirotada As we try to make real this powerful exhortation of St. Ignatius Loyola to St. Francis Xavier (Go forth, and set the world on fire!), we have another challenge in the weeks to come. Let s recap what we have done so far: The week after Easter Sunday was dedicated to really celebrating Easter by holding Masses with choirs in the evening. Last week we signed up people for our Proyecto Baja California and Culture of Life Ministry. We also heard Councilmember David Alvarez speak about his immigration experience as our Faith that Does Justice group continues to get ready to help people with their immigration status. This week, we d like to invite everyone in the parish to think of anyone they know who needs to have their children do First Holy Communion. If you can think of anyone, just take a flyer to those people. The flyer will tell them that the registrations will take place on Saturday, May 16th. Please make sure that the family does not attend another parish or belong to another one. We d like to concentrate on people in our area or basically do not go to church very much. In that way, we can hope to evangelize them with our programs and bring more people to Christ! Please help us in this wonderful work of spreading the Gospel. Recapitulemos lo que hemos hecho hasta ahora: La semana después de Domingo de Pascua se dedicó a una verdadera celebración de la Pascua con Misas con coros por la noche. La semana pasada inscribimos a personas para nuestro Proyecto Baja California y el Ministerio de la Cultura de la Vida. También escuchamos el concejal David Álvarez hablar sobre su experiencia migratoria mientras nuestro grupo de una Fe que Hace Justicia continúa preparándose para ayudar a la gente con su estatus migratorio. Esta semana, nos gustaría invitar a todos los miembros de la parroquia a pensar en alguien que conozcan que tenga hijos que deben hacer su Primera Comunión. Si usted puede pensar en alguien, simplemente tome un volante para estas personas. El volante les dirá que las inscripciones se llevarán a cabo el 16 de mayo. Favor de asegurarse que la familia no asista o pertenezca a otra parroquia. Nos gustaría concentrarnos en gente de nuestra zona o que básicamente no asistan a alguna iglesia. 5 Page 3 Welcome to Our Lady of Guadalupe April 19, 2015 Congratulations to those who have prepared for and received the Sacraments of Initiation Baptism, Eucharist & Confirmation this Easter Season! Felicidades a todos quienes se han preparado y han recibido los Sacramentos de Iniciación Bautizo, Eucaristía y Confirmación durante esta temporada de Pascua! Ahora estamos en nuestro cuarto trimestre y el ritmo no para. Las próximas semanas ofrecen una amplia variedad de actividades para nuestros estudiantes y nuestras comunidades parroquiales y escolares. Nuestro coro de la escuela va a participar en el primer festival anual de música en la escuela secundaria Mater Dei el 23 de abril a las 6:00 pm Este evento le dará a nuestras escuelas del área céntrica de la ciudad la oportunidad de mostrar talentos musicales de cada escuela. El 29 de abril, nuestros estudiantes van a presentar una exposición de arte de sus muchos dones y talentos inspirados en algunos de los grandes artistas de nuestro tiempo. Se invita a todos los feligreses a participar en cada una de estas actividades. El deporte también está en pleno apogeo. El 26 de abril nuestro equipo de atletismo estará compitiendo en varios eventos en la Escuela Catedral Catholic. También nuestras niñas participarán en baloncesto femenino y fútbol co-ed. Vamos Cougars! We are now in our 4th quarter and we are not slowing down. The next few weeks offer a wide variety of activities for our students and our parish and school communities. Our school choir will be participating in the first annual festival of music at Mater Dei high school on April 23rd at 6:00 p.m. This event will give our Center City Cluster of Schools the opportunity to showcase each schools performers in the area of music. On April 29th, our students will be presenting an Art Show of their many gifts and talents inspired by some of the great artists of our times. All parishioners are invited to join in on each of these activities. Sports is also in full swing. April 26th our track team will be competing at Cathedral Catholic in many different events. We also are looking forward to our students participating in girls basketball and co-ed soccer. Go Cougars!
