4 From the Pastor s Desk The end of our Lenten journey is in sight. There are just two weeks to go until Holy Week. If you are feeling less than inspired to continue your Lenten disciplines, ponder in silence the gospel from this weekend s Mass. Jesus encourages us with these familiar words: For God so loved the world that he gave his only Son, so that everyone who believes in him might not perish but might have eternal life. Our goal is eternal life, and the means to that end is a relationship with Jesus Christ. During Lent we pray, fast, and give alms because these are ways in which we intensify our commitment to Christ and accept the divine love he offers. Focusing entirely on the cost of the sacrifices we make only brings discouragement. However, if we keep in the forefront of our minds the depth of Christ s love displayed so beautifully on the cross we will have the courage to persevere in the rigors of this holy season. Please note that I will be away from the parish for much of this week. I have been invited to give a series of talks to the parishioners of Saint Brendan the Navigator Church in Hilliard. I ask for your prayers for the success of this endeavor. I will be praying for you! May the Lord bless you throughout the upcoming week. Our parishioners who are in Girl Scouts thank you in advance! Desde el Escritorio del Párroco El fin de nuestro camino de Cuaresma está a la vista. Solo quedan dos semanas antes de la Semana Santa. Si te sientes menos que inspirado para continuar tus disciplinas cuaresmales, medita en silencio el evangelio de la misa de este fin de semana. Jesús nos anima con estas palabras familiares: Porque tanto amó Dios al mundo que le entregó a Hijo único, para que todo el que crea en él no perezca, sino que tenga vida eterna. Nuestra meta es la vida eterna, y el medio para lograrlo es una amistad con Cristo Jesús. Durante la Cuaresma oramos, ayunamos y damos limosna porque estas son las formas en las que podemos profundizar este compromiso con Cristo y aceptar el amor divino que él ofrece. Si nos enfocamos solamente en el costo y las dificultades de los sacrificios que estamos haciendo solo encontraremos desaliento. Sin embargo, si mantenemos fijo nuestro objetivo en nuestra mente, que es el amor de Cristo mostrado de manera hermosa en la cruz tendremos el valor de perseverar en los rigores de este tiempo Santo. Por favor tengan en cuenta que estaré fuera de la parroquia la mayor parte de esta semana. 5 All Saints Academy Catholic School All Saints Academy Catholic School is in the process of registering students for next year.
