Our Lady of the Lake Miercoles, 26 de 7:00 p.m. Transfiguration Jueves, 27 de 7:00 p.m. St. Martin de Porres Miercoles, 2 de 7:00 p.m. Our Lady of Perpetual Help Jueves, 3 de 7:00 p.m. St. Joseph Martes, 8 de 7:00 p.m. St. Peter

Water abounds in our readings, and the elect throughout the world are celebrating the first scrutiny in preparation for their baptism. As we move through our celebration today, we may want to reflect on what we are thirsting for in our lives, and how God may act to quench that thirst. Question of the Week? How will I personally share the journey of our catechumens to the waters of baptism? Or, if our community has no catechumens, how will I share with one other person my discovery of Christ as Savior of the world? Feeding the Hungry Stations of the Cross All are invited to the Stations of the Cross prayed each Friday during Lent starting at 7:00 p.m. in the church. 7 March 23, 2014 Page 6 Hello again, children Wow, how fast time is going! Today we celebrate the third Sunday of Lent! Spring is officially here with all of it s beauty and new life. Trees are starting to bud their leaves, flowers are beginning to bloom and the grass is coming to life after a cold winter. With the season of spring also comes rain. Rain water is essential to nature and to us as well! As you know, without water there would not be life. In the readings at mass today we hear a lot about water. As Moses leads God s people out of Egypt and through the hot desert they become very thirsty. So thirsty that they are close to death. Moses knows that their lives and his are in danger so he turns to God in prayer. He asks God what he should do? The Lord answered Moses by telling him to take his staff ( a long stick) and strike it against a rock. Moses did this, showing his obedience and trust in the Lord, and people to drink. water flowed from the rock for all the In today s Gospel story we hear Jesus ask a woman for a drink of water at the well. For those of you that don t know, a well is a long tunnel that goes deep into the ground where water is flowing. The woman is surprised that Jesus, a Jewish man, is asking her for a drink of water from her bucket. You see, Jewish law would have required Jesus to use a bucket that was cleaned in a special way. But Jesus is always looking for ways to show all people that God loves them. He explains to her that the water they are sharing from the well, although essential for their human existence, is only temporary. Jesus tells the woman at the well, and likewise each one of us, that in order to experience life eternally, we must drink the water He gives us. This life giving water from Jesus means that we should receive Him fully into our hearts. We should listen to His words and receive Him in Holy Communion. We should pray and ask God to help us show His love to all people. The woman at the well was changed by her encounter with Jesus. Hopefully, we too will be changed to be more like Jesus this lent. In the week ahead let s all try this simple act. Anytime you have a drink of water think about Jesus and His love for you and for all people. Then go out and share His love with everyone you meet.
