3 Holy Father Prayer Intentions for February Universal: That prisoners, especially the young, may be able to rebuild lives of dignity. Para la evangelización: Para que los cónyuges que se han separado encuentren acogida y apoyo en la comunidad cristiana. Forty days to strengthen our hearts By Kathia Arango Lent is a time of renewal for the whole Church, for each community and every believer. Above all it is a time of grace (2 Cor 6:2). As we prepare ourselves to begin this important liturgical season, when the Church calls us to reflect on our lives, attitudes and services, why do not we do it in a different way? Pope Francis, in his message for Lent this year, exhorts us to strengthen our hearts (St. 5, 8) by knowing that God is not indifferent to our needs... He is not indifferent to us! Quite the contrary, God loves us so much that He sent His only Son to give us a new life. If God is not indifferent to us, we cannot be like this to others. Throughout these days, let s make the effort to live in prayer, fasting and abstinence, but more than that let s try to get back to the rhythm and style of true believers who live as children of God, concerned for one another, as the early Christian communities. And the multitude of them that believed were of one heart and soul: and not one of them said that aught of the things which he possessed was his own; but they had all things common. (Acts 4: 32)". By meeting with the person who is in need, let s seek also a way to encounter God in a new and intimate manner. We need to live this time of grace, which begins on Ash Wednesday, to remember that He calls us to a true conversion, to change our life. Let us walk these forty days, strengthening our hearts through giving ourselves and serving to others; through the encounter with a living and loving Christ, praying in a deep and intimate way to God who loved us first. From now on, let's turn these moments into a real practice to follow Jesus, deepening His message of love and approaching the Sacrament of Reconciliation, so we could celebrate Easter with a new life. Cuarenta días para fortalecer nuestros Corazones Por Kathia Arango «La Cuaresma es un tiempo de renovación para la Iglesia, para las comunidades y para cada creyente. Pero sobre todo es un «tiempo de gracia» (2 Co 6,2).» Al disponernos para iniciar este tiempo litúrgico tan importante, en donde la Iglesia nos llama a reflexionar sobre nuestras vidas, actitudes, servicios, por qué no hacerlo de una forma diferente?. El papa Francisco, en su mensaje para la cuaresma de este año, nos exhorta a fortalecer nuestros corazones (St. 5, 8), sabiendo que Dios no es indiferente a nuestras necesidades, preocupaciones Él no es indiferente a nosotros! Muy al contrario, Dios nos ama tanto que envió a su único Hijo a darnos una nueva vida. Si Dios no es indiferente a nosotros, nosotros tampoco podemos serlo con los demás. A lo largo de estos días, hagamos el esfuerzo de vivir en oración, ayuno y abstinencia, pero sobre todas las cosas tratando de recuperar el ritmo y estilo de verdaderos creyentes que viven como hijos de Dios, preocupados los unos por los otros, como las primeras comunidades cristianas. «Todos los creyentes eran de un solo sentir y pensar. Nadie consideraba suya ninguna de sus posesiones, sino que las compartían (Hch. 4, 32)». Al encontrarnos con el hermano que nos necesita, busquemos también el camino para reencontrarnos de forma nueva e íntima con Dios. Aprovechemos este tiempo de gracia que se inicia el miércoles de ceniza para recordar que Él nos llama a una verdadera conversión, a un cambio de vida. Caminemos estos cuarenta días, fortaleciendo nuestros corazones por medio de la entrega y servicio al prójimo, del reencuentro con un Cristo vivo y amoroso, de las prácticas de oración profunda e íntima con Aquél que nos amó primero. De ahora en adelante, convirtamos estos momentos en un seguimiento auténtico a Jesús, profundizando en su mensaje de amor y acercándonos al Sacramento de la Reconciliación, para tener así llegar a celebrar la Pascua con una nueva vida.
