Lesson 66: Indirect questions Lección 66: Preguntas indirectas Reading (Lectura) Could you tell me where she went? ( Puedes decirme a donde fue?) Do you know how I can get to the hospital? ( Sabes cómo puedo llegar al hospital?) Do you have any idea where I could find a headset? ( Tienes alguna idea de dónde podría encontrar unos audífonos?) I would like to know where she keeps those tools. (Me gustaría saber dónde guarda esas herramientas.) Is there any chance that you could come to work on Saturday? I was wondering if I could use your car today. (Me preguntaba si podría usar tu coche hoy.) 1
E.g.)Directa: Where is your car? ( Dónde está tu coche?) Indirecta: (positive) I know where your car is.(sé donde está tu coche.) (negative) I don t know where your car is. (No sé dónde está tu coche.) (question) Do you know where your car is? E.g.) Directa: Where do you live? ( Donde vives?) Indirecta: (positive) I know where I live. (Sé dónde vivo.) (negative) I don t know where I live. (No sé dónde vivo.) (question) Do you know where I live? ( Sabes dónde vivo?) Directa: Where does she live? ( Dónde vive ella?) Indirecta: (positive) I know where she lives. (Sé dónde vive ella.) (negative) I don t know where she lives. (No sé dónde vive ella.) (question) Do you know where she lives? ( Sabes dónde vive ella?) Directa: Where did she live? ( Dónde vivía ella?) Indirecta: (positive) I know where she lived. (Sé dónde vivía.) (negative) I don t know where she lived. (No sé dónde vivía.) (question) Do you know where she lived?
E.g.) Directa: Where can I find that book? ( Dónde puedo encontrar ese libro?) Indirecta: (positive) I know where I can find that book. (Sé dónde puedo encontrar ese libro.) (negative) I don t know where I can find that book. (No sé dónde puedo encontrar ese libro.) (question) Do you know where I can find that book? E.g.) Directa: Who runs the fastest? (Quién corre más rápido) Indirecta: (positive) I know who runs the fastest. (Sé quién corre más rápido.) (negative) I don t know who runs the fastest. (No sé quién corre más rápido.) (question) Do you know who runs the fastest? E.g.) Directa: Did she study for the exam? ( Estudió ella para el examen?) indirect: (question) Do you know if she studied for the exam? ( Sabes si ella estudió para el examen?) 3
Speaking (Conversación) 1) Could you show me where the station is? ( Podrías mostrarme dónde está la estación?) 2) Do you know where his office is? ( Sabes dónde está su oficina?) 3) Do you know if they will be able to go hiking next week? ( Sabes si podrán ir de excursión la próxima semana?) 4) Do you know if it would be possible to move the date of the interview? ( Sabe si sería posible cambiar la fecha de la entrevista?) 5) Do you have any idea where my cat is? ( Tienes idea de dónde está mi gato?) 6) I would like to know how fast I can get to the station. (Me gustaría saber como de rápido puedo llegar a la estación.) 7) He wants to know where the theater is. (Él quiere saber dónde está el teatro.) 8) Do you happen to know when the train arrives?
1) Where is my guitar? ( Dónde está mi guitarra?) 2) Who is she? ( Quién es ella?) 3) Who can help me with this? ( Quién me puede ayudar con esto?) 4) Do I have to wear a suit? ( Debo llevar un traje?) 5) When will it start raining? ( Cuándo empezará a llover?) 6) How far is the store from here? ( Cómo de lejos está la tienda de aquí?) 7) When is the deadline for this project? ( Cuándo es la fecha final para este proyecto?) 8) How much would the trip cost me?
