3 Week of January 15, 2017 Page Five NEW YEAR S RESOLUTION ON YOUR PARISH STEWARDSHIP As we say goodbye to the old year and begin our New Year, it is a good time to reflect on your parish stewardship. Some of the questions you should ask yourself: How have I been with giving of my time, talents and treasures to my parish? Have I participated in the parish events? Have I volunteered to help in the parish ministries? Have I thoughtfully reflected on what I can give weekly to my parish? Have I kept up with my Sunday commitment to the parish? As you ask yourself these questions, these are some New Year s Resolutions you can make this year. 1) Am I registered in the parish? It is so important to register in the parish. This is particularly true when families need letters of verification and recommendation. It still a surprise when families that have been coming to the parish for years are not registered and they need some type of letter from the parish. Make it easy for the parish to provide you with these letters register! 2) Am I receiving my Sunday envelopes and am I keeping my Sunday Commitment? If you registered in the parish you should receive your Sunday envelopes. Using your envelopes is an important way of saying This is my parish! I will take responsibility in taking care of my parish. I support the many ministries and services my parish provides. 3) How am I giving of my time and talents? During the year there are many opportunities to volunteer in the parish thru its many services and programs it provides. Be on the lookout for these opportunities or ask the parish where you can help! RESOLUCIÓN DE AÑO NUEVO SOBRE EL COMPROMISO PARROQUIAL Cuando decimos adiós al año viejo y comenzamos nuestro Año Nuevo, es un buen momento para reflexionar sobre su mayordomía parroquial. Algunas de las preguntas que debes hacerte: Cómo he estado con dar mi tiempo, talentos y tesoros a mi parroquia? He participado en los eventos parroquiales? Me he ofrecido para ayudar en los ministerios parroquiales? He pensado reflexivamente en lo que puedo dar semanalmente a mi parroquia? He mantenido mi compromiso dominical con la parroquia? A medida que se hacen estas preguntas, estas son algunas de las resoluciones de Año Nuevo que pueden hacer este año. 1) Estoy registrado en la parroquia? Es muy importante registrarse en la parroquia. Esto es particularmente cierto cuando las familias necesitan cartas de verificación y recomendación. Durante el año hay muchas oportunidades de ser voluntario en la parroquia a través de sus muchos servicios y programas que proporciona. Esté atento a estas oportunidades o pregúntele a la parroquia donde puede ayudar!

Merit Back of the Yards Choir El Coro de Niños ensaya cada viernes a las 5:00 pm en la iglesia de Santa Cruz, y también canta en la misa de las 10:30 am los domingos en Santa Cruz. Este mes está aceptando nuevos miembros, niños y niñas, de los grados 1-8. Si estás interesado/a, venga al ensayo este viernes para inscribirte. The Merit School Back of the Yards Children s Choir practices every Tuesday at 4:30-6:30 5 pm in Holy Cross Church. This month, the Choir welcomes new members, boys and girls, grades 3-8. If you are interested, come to practice this Tuesday to sign up. Woodshop Tenemos el Taller de Madera para los jóvenes de años de edad. Se llevan acabo los sábados, comenzando a las 9:30 am, en el sótano de Inmaculado Corazón de María. Los jóvenes están invitados a visitar y conocer los maestros cualquier sábado pasen por las escaleras al lado norte, del estacionamiento, para aprender del programa. Our Woodshop for youth ages years old takes place Saturdays, starting at 9:30 am, in the Immaculate Heart of Mary basement. Youth are invited to visit and talk with the teachers any Saturday come to the parking lot and go down the steps to the basement entrance, to learn more about the program. College Questions ATTENTION: Youth high school and and beyond: David Rios, a college graduate from our community, now works for the Illinois Student Assistance Commission and has office hours RIGHT HERE on Saturday mornings from 10:00 am 12 noon. En el salon parroquial del Inmaculado Corazon de Maria. Nos reunimos de 9:30 a.m. hasta la 1:00 p.m. cada miércoles. Esperamos verlos! Al continuar el invierno, recuerden el dicho: Una buena risa es el sol de una casa. As winter continues, remember the saying: A good laugh is sunshine in the house. EL BAUTISMO es el primer sacramento. Por el Bautismo, nosotros volvemos a renacer como hijos e hijas de Dios, y se nos da la bienvenida como miembros de la comunidad eclesial. Es bueno que repasemos las guias de nuestra parroquia sobre el Bautismo. EL BAUTISMO DE LOS INFANTES EL BAUTISMO DE UN INFANTE usualmente se refiere a niños menores de 6 años. Los padres que requiran el bautismo del infante tienen que hacerlo por lo menos un mes de anticipación de la fecha deseada del bautismo. Es necesario que por lo menos un padre de familia venga a la oficina de la parroquia personalmente para llenar una solicitud y hacer arreglos. El/ella tiene que traer la acta de nacimiento del niño cuando venga a hacer los arreglos. Los Padrinos tienen que estar casadas por la Iglesia Católica (puede ser entre ellos o hacia otra persona) o estar soltero/a. La misma poliza se aplica a los padrinos de niños y adultos. EL BAUTISMO DE UN NIÑO/A EL BAUTISMO DE UN NIÑO/A usualmente se refiere a los niños de edad de escuela, entre las edades de 6 a 14 años. Es necesario que el niño/a de esta edad reciba instrucción catequético en la preparación del sacramento del Bautismo. En nuestra parroquia, esto se lleva acabo por medio de la participación del programa de Educación Religiosa para niños/as de la parroquia. EL BAUTISMO DE UN ADULTO EL BAUTISMO DE UN ADULTO usualmente se refiere a personas de la edad de 15 años en adelante. El adulto participará en un proceso en la parroquia que se llama El Rito de la Iniciación Cristiana de Adultos. Through BAPTISM, we are reborn as children of God, and welcomed as members of the Church community. Baptism is the first sacrament. It is good that we review our parish guidelines on Baptism. THE BAPTISM OF INFANTS THE BAPTISM OF AN INFANT ordinarily refers to children under the age of 6. The parents requesting the baptism of an infant should do so at least two weeks in anticipation of the desired date of baptism. It is necessary that at least one of the parents come to the parish office personally to complete the application and make arrangements. He/she should bring the child s birth certificate at the time of the arrangements. The Godparents need to be married in the Catholic Church, (whether to each other or another) or be single. This same policy applies to godparents of children and adults. THE BAPTISM OF CHILDREN THE BAPTISM OF A CHILD ordinarily refers to children of school age, between the ages of 6 and 14. It is necessary that a child of this age receive catechetical instruction in preparation for the sacrament of Baptism. At our parish, this is done through participation in the parish Religious Education program for children. THE BAPTISM OF AN ADULT THE BAPTISM OF AN ADULT ordinarily refers to persons ages 15 and older. The adult will participate in the parish process called the Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults.
