1 This script is intended to be used as a supplement to the ELPA21 Online Screener Test Administration Manual (TAM) and should be read aloud to students who would benefit from hearing the Online Screener test directions read aloud in their native language. Test Administrators must read the complete Online Screener TAM prior to using this document to ensure they are familiar with all the ELPA21 Online Screener test administration procedures. Note that some of the directions in this translation are only applicable to specific grade levels. Please consult the Online Screener TAM and identify the directions you will need to read aloud prior to administering the Online Screener test. A recorded audio script of this translation will also be available. The tracks on the recorded script are listed in the first column of the table below. OPERATIONAL SCREENER DIRECTIONS STUDENT: LOGIN INSTRUCTIONS 1 Thank you for coming here today. Welcome to school district. My name is and I ll be working with you today. Gracias por venir aquí hoy. Bienvenidos al distrito escolar. Mi nombre es y estaré trabajando contigo hoy. 2 Today we are going to take a test in English. It s ok if you don t know all the answers. First, we are going to log into the computer and then we will practice. You need headphones and a microphone for this test. I have those for you here. 3 On your computer screen, locate the icon titled Secure Browser. If you cannot locate this icon, please raise your hand and I will come help you. 4 Double-click this icon and the program will launch. Once the program has opened, you will see the Student Sign In page. Do not enter anything until you have been instructed to do so. 5 Type your first name into the field titled First Name. 6 Now click on the SSID field. Type in your Student ID number. 7 Now click on the Session ID field. Type in the Session ID I have written on the board. Hoy vamos a realizar un examen en inglés. 2 10 Now you should see a screen with your name on it. Do you see your name on the screen? If you do not see your own name, or if your name is not spelled correctly, please let me know. The Yes button is at the bottom of the screen. Do not go past the next screen until I tell you to. 12 Now we are going to begin the test. Click on the link that says Start Grade X ELPA If you previously started a test but did not finish it, the link will say Resume Grade X ELPA Review the information on the Is This Your Test? page and verify that your test settings are correct. If the information is not correct, please let me know. 15 When you are ready, click Yes. You should now see the Audio Playback Check screen. 16 Click on the Sound button to hear the sound. If you hear the sound, click I heard the sound. If you do not hear the sound, raise your hand. Ahora observa el resto de la información en la pantalla. When you are finished, press the same button again to stop Try it now. If you need help, please let me know. Also, in the questions list (upper left of screen drop down menu), you see the flag is on question number 1 because we just flagged it. Use this flag on any question you don t know and might want to come back to. 6 Do you have any questions about how to use these features? Let s click on question 6 now. 14 Let s say you are finished reviewing. Click on the very last item in the list. That will take you to the final test item. Click NEXT to get the review screen again. 15 Ok, now you can review and then we ll move to Step Two when you are ready. Please let me know when you are ready.
