Constructing Finger Patterns Use your fingers to show me the number I say as quickly as you can. Show me o Correct, Fluent or Builds Finger Patterns (2) 6. Recognizing Finger Patterns What number is this? Ask, How many dots did you see? o Correct & Fluent, Identifies Domino Patterns w/o Counting (2) o Not Fluent, Identifies Domino Patterns But Counts by 1s (1) Addition and Subtraction (A/S) Score out of 6 8. Present a collection of 20 counters. Ask, Would you get me 15 counters? o Correct (2) o Incorrect, Cannot Count Visible Items (0) 9. Briefly display 3 red counters then cover. Say, Here are three red counters. Briefly display 2 blue counters. Leave these uncovered. Say, Here are two blue counters. How many counters all together? Then ask, How did you solve it? o Correct, any strategy (2) o Incorrect (0) 10. Place out 2 red counters. Ask, How many counters? Place the two red counters under screen. Place two more red counters under the screen (4 in all). How many counters are there now? Place one more red counter under screen (5). How many now? Remove two counters (3). How many now? If not clear on how student is solving ask, How did you solve it? o All 3 tasks correct (2) o 2 out of 3 tasks correct (1)
