If you have not met with your child s teacher since Winter Break, he/she will be in touch with you to set up a time to meet. This is a great time to discuss your child s progress and talk about strategies you can use to assist your child throughout the remainder of the school year. Father/Daughter Dance Dads mark your calendars for Thursday, February 9! We hope you will bring your daughters to school for our Father/Daughter dance. Girls, bring your father for an evening of fun. The event will be in the Multi-Purpose Room from 6:30 7:30. Pictures, snacks and flowers will be available for purchase. Entrance is FREE! 2 RED OUT Day for the American Heart Association Please help Guion help celebrate the American Heart Association s RED OUT Day on Friday, February 3 rd by wearing red. Heart Disease is the #1 cause of death among woman. This day is a way to remind folks to take care of their heart. Guion students are encouraged to wear red on Friday. If students would like to wear jeans that day, they may do so by donating $1 to the American Heart Association Spring Pictures Our students will have the opportunity to have Spring Pictures taken on Wednesday, February 15 th. Information will be sent home for anyone interested in having their child take Spring Pictures. Only students who have paid for pictures by 8:00am on Feb. 15 th will have their picture taken. Students may dress up for pictures on this day. PARENT INFORMATION MEETING FOR FAMILIES INTERESTED IN LEARNING MORE ABOUT THE HIGH ABILITY PROGRAM IN PIKE When: February 2nd ~ 6:00 7:00 PM Where: NEW AUGUSTA NORTH CAFETERIA On Thursday, February 2 nd, a meeting will be held in the New Augusta North Cafeteria to inform parents of current K-7 students about Pike s High Ability Program. The one hour meeting will begin at 6:00 p.m. and provide a brief overview of the K-12 program, criteria for testing consideration and staff will be present to answer questions. Valentine s Day As Valentine s Day approaches we want to make sure all parents and students know that we do not set aside instructional time to celebrate the holiday with classroom parties. Please do not bring in or send special holiday treats to school for Valentine s Day. Thanks, in advance, for helping us keep the focus on education and for following our District Wellness Policy.

4 RED OUT Day for the American Heart Association Por favor ayude a Guion a celebrar el día "RED OUT" de la Asociación Americana del Corazón el viernes 3 de febrero usando rojo. La enfermedad cardíaca es la causa # 1 de la muerte entre la mujer. Este día es una manera de recordar a la gente a cuidar de su corazón. Se anima a los estudiantes de Guion a vestirse de rojo el viernes. La reunión de una hora comenzará a las 6:00 p.m. y proporcionará una breve descripción del programa de kínder a grado 12, los criterios para considerar la evaluación y el personal escolar estará presente para contestar preguntas.
