St. Monica Parish He is RISEN! The tomb is empty. The resurrection of Christ changed the life of Mary Magdalen, Peter, John and all Christian witnesses of the Resurrection. For us Christian Catholics, If Christ had not risen our faith would be in vain, (1Cor 15.14) the resurrection is a fact of faith, but also historically verifiable by the sign of the empty tomb and the encounters of Jesus with His disciples (CIC 647). The first day of the week very early in the morning, Mary goes to the tomb and finds the empty tomb and runs to tell Peter and John. What happened in Mary? He5 confusion is understandable, it is early in the morning, low light and she didn't find the body of Jesus, did not know where he had been taken. Do we know everything that happened to Jesus and where He is? First, as He said, raised on high, on the cross, with His blood He paid for our salvation. He defeated death, resurrected and ascended into heaven and is seated at the right hand of the Father. And in the Eucharist He is our nourishment of eternal life. John, the young beloved disciple runs and arrives first, but does not enter. Why? If it was with Jesus at His crucifixion, he heard His last words on the cross and watched Him die. Through John, Mary gave us life at the foot of the cross. What was wrong with him? Is it difficult for a young man to confront the great challenges of life and faith? However he saw and believed. Peter, the Rock on which the Church would be built, denied Him and he could not be with Jesus in the moments of pain, passion and death, at the tomb he seems to be strong, brave, and acts. They are examples of the prototypical Christian. With which do we identify ourselves? The empty tomb invites us to not stay in the mark of death, but to come out of all that this means: leave our trauma, frustrations, depression, senseless life and live fully. Listen to Jesus who tells us by our name: "Lazaro =John, David, Theresa,..."come out, (Jn 11.43) because: " I am the resurrection and the life; whoever believes in me, even if he dies, will live. (Jn 11,25) Alleluia! Christ is risen and lives among us! We are blessed, ignited and in victory, not for what we are and do but rather because Christ has saved us. All shall rise; those who have done good deeds to the resurrection of life, but those who have done wicked deeds to the resurrection of condemnation. (Jn. 5: 29) It's hard to know this, but if we live the Word of God there is nothing to fear, then we will say as the psalmist: "I shall not die, but live (Ps 118, 17) to give testimony of what we profess: we believe in the resurrection of the body and life everlasting, (Apostles Creed) and we look for the resurrection of the dead and the life of the world to come (Nicene Creed). Through our baptism, we have participated in the Paschal mystery and every time we receive Him in Holy Communion we announce His death and proclaim His resurrection until He comes again. (1 Cor 11:26) Until we are definitely with in the new Jerusalem where there shall be no more death or mourning, wailing or pain, because Jesus makes all things new. (Rev. 21, 2-4). 3 April 5, 2015 Viviendo la Palabra HA RESUCITADO! La tumba está vacía. La resurrección de Cristo cambio la vida de María Magdalena, de Pedro, Juan y de todos los cristianos testigos de la resurrección. Para nosotros cristianos católicos si Cristo no hubiera resucitado vana sería nuestra fe (1Co 15,14) La resurrección es un hecho de fe, pero también histórico comprobable, por la señal del sepulcro vacío y los encuentros de Jesús con sus discípulos (CIC 647). El primer día de la semana muy de madrugada, María va al sepulcro y encuentra la tumba vacía y corre a anunciarlo a Pedro y Juan. Qué pasaba en María? Es comprensible su confusión, es de madrugada, hay poca luz y no encuentra el Cuerpo de Jesús, no sabía a dónde lo habían puesto. Nosotros, sí sabemos todo lo que le sucedió a Jesús y en donde lo han puesto? Primero, como él dijo, levantado en lo alto, en la cruz, con su sangre firmó el pago por nuestra salvación. Venció a la muerte, resucitó y subió al cielo y está sentado a la derecha del Padre. Y en la Eucaristía es nuestro alimento de vida eterna. Juan, el discípulo amado, joven, va, corre más, llega primero pero no entra. Por qué? Si fue el que estuvo con Jesús en su crucifixión, le escuchó sus últimas palabras en la cruz y le vio morir. Por El, María nos dio a luz en la cruz. Qué pasaba con él? Será que, es difícil para un joven enfrentarse a los grandes retos de la vida y de la fe? Sin embargo vio y creyó. Pedro, la piedra en la que sería edificada la iglesia, le negó y no pudo estar con Jesús en los momentos de dolor, de Pasión y muerte, ante la tumba, parece ser fuerte, valiente y actúa. Ellos son algunos ejemplos del prototipo del cristiano de siempre. Con cual nos identificamos? La tumba vacía nos invita a no permanecer en los signos de muerte sino salir de todo lo que ello significa: salir de nuestros traumas, frustraciones, depresión, sin sentido de la vida y vivir plenamente. Escuchemos a Jesús que nos dice por nuestro nombre: Lázaro=Juan, David, teresa, sal fuera y anda, vive (Jn 11,43) porque: Yo soy la resurrección el que cree en mí, aunque muera, vivirá (Jn 11,25). Aleluya! Cristo ha resucitado y vive entre nosotros! Estamos bendecidos, encendidos y en victoria, no por lo que somos y hacemos sino porque Cristo nos ha salvado. Todos resucitaremos, los que hicimos el bien para la salvación y los que hicimos el mal para la condenación (Jn 5, 29) Es duro saber esto. Pero si vivimos la Palabra de Dios no hay nada que temer, entonces diremos como el salmista: No he de morir, viviré (Sal 117, 17) para dar testimonio de lo que profesamos: creemos en la resurrección de la carne y en la vida eterna. (Credo de los apóstoles) y esperamos la resurrección de los muertos y la vida del mundo futuro (Credo de Nicea). Por nuestro bautismo, hemos participado del Misterio Pascual y cada vez que le recibimos en la Sagrada comunión anunciamos su muerte y proclamamos su resurrección hasta que el vuelva (Cfr. 1 Co 11,26). Hasta que nos encontremos definitivamente con El en la Nueva Jerusalén donde no habrá llanto, ni muerte, ni dolor porque Jesús hace nuevas todas las cosas (Ap 21,2-4). Es Pascua, celebremos con gran alegría el paso de Dios en nuestra vida. Hna.
