St. Monica Parish He called the Twelve, and began to send them out two by two Jesus in His mission of preaching the Kingdom prepared His disciples so that they were the followers of the mission and therefore sent them out: making them missionaries of the Gospel. The Mission of the disciple is an extension of what Jesus is fulfilling, He calls them, sends them out in His name, they went out to preach, inviting conversion, they expelled many demons and anointed many sick people with oil and healed them (vs ). He sent them two by two; it is a small sign that says to the community, to signify that those who accept the Gospel also form community, that is to say, Church, people of God. The simplicity and sobriety of life are fundamental characteristics in the life of the Apostle, it is total detachment that the Gospel demands, to carry light luggage, to put all their trust in the Lord, who sends them, and in the people who receive them; it is a sign that the Gospel makes more "credible". The richness of the Apostle is the Lord and He should be their strength. The missionary should be traveling, a laden disciple becomes sedentary, he becomes attached to a place and to a land. Welcoming and rejection are characteristic of the mission, the disciple, like Jesus, must proclaim and give the message, with rejection, the missionary has to understand that the Gospel is not a statement, it is a message that engages, which confronts life, which leads to division where there supposedly was peace, the mission is a constant fight against the forces of evil. The missionary is a witness, who is committed to the cause of the Gospel and proposes the conversion and change of life. The Gospel must be lived and must be transformed; the Lord tells us that, to be an apostle, we must give up many things that we hold for comfort. It asks us to face life with the Gospel so that we may be witnesses; as witnesses, we must follow Jesus, imitate in our lives the life of Christ; as Apostles, we must evangelize the world sharing with others the experience of God, proclaim the Gospel through a transparent Christian life and radiating of love, mercy, forgiveness and the spirit of service, especially to the most needy. 3 July 12, 2015 Llamó a los Doce y comenzó a enviarlos de dos en dos Jesús en su misión de predicar el Reino, preparó a sus discípulos para que fueran los continuadores de la misión y por eso los envió, constituyéndolos en misioneros del evangelio. La misión del discípulo es la prolongación de lo que Jesús está realizando, él los llama, en su nombre son enviados, ellos salieron a predicar, invitando a la conversión, expulsaban muchos demonios, ungían con aceite a muchos enfermos y los sanaban (vs ). Los envía de dos en dos, es el pequeño signo que manifiesta a la comunidad, para significar que los que aceptan el Evangelio también formen comunidad, es decir, Iglesia, pueblo de Dios. La sencillez y la sobriedad de vida son características fundamentales en la vida del apóstol, es el desprendimiento total que exige el evangelio, estar ligeros de equipaje, para poner toda su confianza en el Señor, que los envía, y en la gente que los recibe; es un signo que hace más creíble el Evangelio. La riqueza del apóstol es el Señor y él debe ser su fortaleza. El misionero tiene que ser itinerante, un discípulo cargado se hace sedentario, se sujeta a un lugar y a una tierra. La acogida y el rechazo son características de la misión, el discípulo, como Jesús, tiene que proclamar y brindar el mensaje, ante el rechazo, el misionero ha de comprender que el Evangelio no es una instrucción, es un mensaje que compromete, que confronta toda la vida, que lleva división allí donde supuestamente había paz, la misión es una lucha permanente contra las fuerzas del mal. El misionero es testigo, que se compromete con la causa del evangelio y que propone la conversión y el cambio de vida El Evangelio hay que vivirlo y debe transformar, el Señor nos dice que, para ser apóstol, debemos renunciar a muchas cosas que nos sujetan a la comodidad. Nos pide que confrontemos la vida con el evangelio para que podamos ser testigos; como testigos, tenemos que seguir a Jesús, imitar en nuestra vida la vida de Cristo; como apóstoles, tenemos que evangelizar al mundo compartiendo con otros la experiencia de Dios, el anuncio del Evangelio a través de una vida cristiana transparente e irradiando el amor, la misericordia, el perdón y el espíritu de servicio especialmente a los más necesitados P. Over 350 participants, including representatives from 14 religious traditions and 23 countries, united to uphold the value of marriage. (I recently interviewed Dr. Helen Alvaré about the gathering.) As part of the conference, organizers released six extraordinary videos on marriage and the family. Filmed around the world and containing interviews with people like Fr. Robert Barron, Dr. Peter Kreeft, and N.T. Wright, the short films display timeless truths in extraordinary ways. What Fr. Barron s CATHOLICISM series did for the Church s beauty, this series does for marriage and the family. The videos, which are freely available on YouTube, would serve as tremendous resources for catechists and teachers. If you serve in marriage preparation, youth and young ministry, or any ministry concerning the family, relationships, or parenting, you should definitely consider using them. BAUTISMOS: Los bautismos en español son el segundo sábado de cada mes a las 12pm y el cuarto domingo del mes a las 3pm. La platica pre-bautismal es el primer domingo del mes a las 3pm en el salón parroquial. No niños a la plática. Donación de $80 por la platica y el certificado de Bautismo. Los padrinos tienen que ser mayores de 16 años y tener sus Sacramentos, si son casados deben estar casados por la Iglesia. BODAS: Es necesario hacer cita con el padre. The godparents must be confirmed, 16 years of age, and if married, validly married in the Catholic Church. MARRIAGE: The couple needs to meet with a priest to begin their marriage preparation. Must make appointment at least 6 months prior to date desired. ANOINTING OF THE SICK: This sacrament is for those with a serious illness. It should be received at the beginning of an illness.
